Information icon Hello, I'm NASCARfan0548. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Talk:Main Page have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Thanks. NASCARfan0548  15:47, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I could not say that it is not constructive. In my opinion, keep pages up to date is important, if some information is outdated it has to be updated. So, we have your opinion and mine: the fact is that number of Ukrainian articles increased and now this number is bigger than Portuguese. Definitely there is a constructive suggestion about the update. Unless you are trying to judge that Ukrainian opinion could not be constructive). Максим Т17 (talk) 15:57, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Максим Т17:, it has to be related to the Main Page, and when I looked at the page, the topic didn't seem to relate to the English Wikipedia's main page, so that's why I reverted your edits. NASCARfan0548  16:02, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Максим Т17: According to meta:Project portals, the ten central languages on www.wikipedia.org are selected by average number of page views, rather than by number of articles. So I imagine Portuguese is still ahead on that measure.
@NASCARfan0548: It may not have been the best location for the question, but in fairness there isn't an obvious place to ask questions about the www.wikipedia.org portal. Using rollback on the question and leaving a templated "unconstructive" warning isn't very friendly. the wub "?!" 16:10, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The wub, I'm always friendly to new users, sorry if it wasn't friendly. NASCARfan0548  16:31, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The place to discuss landing page of Wikipedia is Phabricator. See "Wikipedia landing page" discussion on Meta (permalink). —andrybak (talk) 16:46, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@NASCARfan0548 and Andrybak:

Ok, I agree with that, I hope my post here wasn't offensive for anybody. About views/articles count: I am checking the number and as I see it is about articles count not about views, please check, it seems that I was correct. I will leave some comments on the Landing page. Maybe some specific approval required for my request, I'm not very familiar with the hierarchy here.Максим Т17 (talk) 20:45, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicts of interest?

[edit]

Максим, do you have any association with Vulkan API? Your edits give the impression that you may have a connection to them. signed, Rosguill talk 16:55, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rosguill, No, I haven`t, I work in the IT industry, but I have no relations or associations with Vulkan API or Chronos group at all. In this article, I shared only common principles for batching in the scope of the rendering pipeline, because some time ago I was interested in similar topics, while I had been working within an Android platform. Also, I considered giving some examples with Unity (game engine) because there is also a place for batching, but I'm not very familiar with this Engine for the moment. I could extend the article with other examples if it would be useful.

I didn't share any details related to commercial usage or some secrets(I had NDA agreement), only information based on public sources. I don't know why you have a feeling about conflict of interest, but it is up to you to keep this article or not.

Why I'm here: because I received an invitation to make a contribution to the English wiki, but now I have a feeling that it was a bad idea)Максим Т17 (talk) 17:26, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your emphasis on mentioning Vulkan API and relying on it for sourcing seemed a bit puzzling, but this explanation is sufficient. signed, Rosguill talk 17:36, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, it's worth noting that trying to write a new article from scratch is just about one of the hardest things you can do on Wikipedia, especially if English isn't your first language. I would suggest that you focus on expanding or otherwise improving articles. If you're not sure how to help, you can find a list of things to do at WP:TASKS signed, Rosguill talk 17:49, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rosguill, I just worked abroad for about 2 years, where the main language was English for communication. After that period of time, in some cases for me, it is easier to explain something in English, because some words have a more precise or comprehensive definition. And maybe you know, that the newest documentation or specification for Software are coming usually in English, that also makes an impact. Only one thing: some mistakes or typos could appear from my side, sorry, if such already exists. Perhaps, I will double-check my edits. Максим Т17 (talk) 18:04, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
