RE: Daniel Bedingfield

[edit]

Hey, thanks for the message! :) Taking a song, as compared to an album, to featured status, is not going to be easy. Especially if there's not enough information for the article. I recommend that you first try for a Good Article nomination before anything else. Sometimes there may not be enough information, especially for the writing, developing, and recording section of song article. I personally am not a fan of that article that you cited as your guideline for Bedingfield's single. In fact, there are some articles of good quality that look much better than that, like the article that recently failed a FAR, "Papa Don't Preach". As for finding information, I will search high and low for anything I can find. :) CarpetCrawlermessage me 23:51, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, I've been swamped with classwork, exams, and essays, since I am nearing the end of the semester, so my time on Wiki up until yesterday has not been as large. I will get to work on the research as soon as possible, and see what I can find. CarpetCrawlermessage me 21:41, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I found some stuff, but not as much as I'd like to admit. I'll check my other usual places later, but right now I DO have a little bit of info on his inspiration for the song, as well as the fact that he originally didn't even want to add it to the album. Other than that, I found some chart info and more reception info. Not as much as I'd like to admit though, sorry. I'll see what else I can find, and then add it to the article. CarpetCrawlermessage me 22:50, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just an update, at the end of this week I'll find some time to add what I found. This week will be hectic, due to exams and papers being due. After this week I'll pretty much be done with tests and such, and have more breathing room as the semester will be about a week from being over. Tennis articles

[edit]

The number of titles won combines both singles and doubles titles. It can be slightly difficult to calculate - particularly with pre-1990's ATP and WTA Tour chronology - but it provides the best overall impression of a player's career rather than segregating singles and doubles successes from each other. Football League Trophy finals

[edit]

Hi there, thanks for your message on my talk page. Unfortunately I haven't a clue where you'd find manager of the month nominees, that sort of award just isn't very well publicised. As for your other query, the standard format I've used is lead (naturally), then a short history overview (focussing specifically on the winners, given that it's a list of the winners rather than the competition's main article), then the table of winners/runners-up. Feel free to crib the table format from, for example, List of FA Trophy winners. I notice that the table currently in there is in reverse chronological order, this needs changing as the WP standard is to use forwards chronological order (ie earliest winner first). Also, the current "sponsorship" section needs to go, as it does not relate directly to the winners of the competition - it would be fine on the competition's main page but not here. At most you could start the article with "The Football League Trophy (known at different times under its sponsored names Freight Rover Trophy, Sherpa Van Trophy, etc)". Oh, and lastly I see no reason why specific finals shouldn't get their own articles. Hope all this waffle helps :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:47, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BTW Thanks to some *sneaky look round* connections I have, I could get you a photo of a 2002-03 LDV Vans Trophy winner's medal, which I imagine would fit well in the article, the only problem is I'm not 100% sure what the copyright issues might be. I'll see if I can find anyone who might know....... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 11:17, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Line-up graphics

[edit]

I use a free program called Inkscape. You can download a copy at http://www.inkscape.org/PeeJay 21:59, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey dude. Sorry, I totally forgot about your last msg. Anyway, I suggest downloading one of the pre-existing line-up images and modifying that. It's much easier than creating 22 new kit images, and also maintains the standard look of the images. As for the Battle of Old Trafford, I don't see why it shouldn't be two articles. Go ahead with that. – PeeJay 20:35, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh right, that's weird. Which image are you trying to modify? – PeeJay 20:45, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure about titles, btw. How about Battle of Old Trafford (2003) and Battle of Old Trafford (2004)? – PeeJay 20:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, well I dunno what's wrong with that file. Just download one of the line-up images I created and modify that... – PeeJay 21:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not really sure how to explain it, but to move things around you just click on them to select them and then move them around by dragging them to where you want them. I suggest selecting both the kit and the text for each player at the same time for the best effect. Also, why would you want to change the pitch colour? – PeeJay 14:16, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Kinda busy working on the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final right now, mate. I'm also trying to write an article about United's 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995, but I'll see if I can give the Battle of Old Trafford some attention soon. – PeeJay 00:20, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've posted several sources on the talk page for expansion of the article. I plan on working on the article based on the proposed structure in coming few days, hoping to promote the article at least to GA. I could use your help in the task. LeaveSleaves 14:38, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've finished at least the primary work on the article and have listed for PR here. Just go through the article and leave you comments on the PR. Or feel free to make improvements whichever and wherever you see fit. LeaveSleaves 19:09, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If we win it we get promoted to the Championship? Awesome!!  :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 20:23, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I'm planning on having a blast at getting the article to GA status, but my WP availability's a bit hit and miss at the moment. I will get to it, though.......... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 20:24, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, sorry, I seem to have got a bit carried away once I started on what was meant to be just a few bits and bobs :-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:34, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Finished!

[edit]

OK, I have added all of the information I could find. I apologize, I'm a little dissappointed in myself, as I feel I didn't find as much information as I was hoping I would, but I did find a lot for the Writing and background section. Thank you for asking me for help, and I apologize that I couldn't find as much information as I had hoped I would. I also did find some reception information, as well as some chart performance information. CarpetCrawlermessage me 19:57, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Men's tennis templates

[edit]

Hi ! I would have liked to help you with the templates, but unfortunately I'm not sure I have the time to do it. I've been pretty active recently but I'm going to be quite busy from mid-June to, well, probably the end of the year. So I might be able to edit small stuff here and there but I can't commit to do huge research work like the one you're asking. Sorry, I hope you'll find someone to help you. --Don Lope (talk) 15:49, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did you try asking at Wikipedia:WikiProject tennis? --Teratornis (talk) 20:55, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if that did not work, the next step would be to look at the histories of the articles relating to the templates, make a list of the heavy contributors, and ask them one by one on their talk pages if they could help, or if not, where you should ask next. Wait for one to reply before you ask the next one, to avoid the WP:CANVASS appearance. Maybe not all of the heavy tennis editors are watching the project talk page. I don't know anything about tennis so I'm no help here. Good luck. --Teratornis (talk) 22:52, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't look at all your user subpages so I don't know what you have done yet, but if you have not already done so, I suggest making a user subpage specifically about your templates, where you list everything you have done, and everything you need help with. The more specific and detailed you can be with a help request, the more likely you are to get help. --Teratornis (talk) 22:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A polite reminder to choose a country, city, state or other place to represent. Your last choice was not one of these and has been removed (sorry, we altered the rules since then). Thanks! weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 20:02, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of number-one singles from the 1980s

[edit]

Yeah, that's a tricky one, and the main reason why I didn't attempt the 80s list, given the high level of charity number ones in that decade. I guess one approach would be to have a three-column table, showing number ones in the artist's own right, "uncredited" number ones and then the total - what do you reckon..........? -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:56, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MJ rep

[edit]

Replied here. Thanks. — Please comment R2 14:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see no point in having this, it can easily be covered in the death article. If loads of info develops then maybe it warrants it's own article, but currently, I don't think so. — Please comment R2 00:50, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good stuff sourcing those games! Keep it up. We've got about 100 to go...! Then we'll illustrate it, expand the lead and then co-nom it at FLC. Sound good to you? The Rambling Man (talk) 19:42, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, good stuff. One thing, when I cite the Guardian, Telegraph, Times, I don't usually add publisher, and when I use the BBC, I just use BBC Sport as a publisher. And generally, I don't link any of them as they're quite well known. We need to make sure citations are consistent. As for league managers list, I suddenly got the feeling that it was a content fork. I'll probably come back to it after this list. Presumably you've seen the other project, the hat-tricks for England list? The one thing that stands out for me is WP:RS which would mean we should use the FA website rather than englandstats.com. So anyway, keep up the good work - home teams should be bold (in the Premier league hat-trick list), and I'm hoping we can cite every single one from the Indy, Times, Telegraph and BBC, decent secondary sources. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:03, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Next up...

[edit]

...List of England national football team hat-tricks - I think we'll use the actual FA website for links, not the englandstats one. Should be able to dig up some old copyright-expired images too... The Rambling Man (talk) 11:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, work on the early stuff, before the split, and yes, I think perhaps we should add a column which states home, away or neutral... The Rambling Man (talk) 19:25, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've done some work on the bottom end of the list - suggest you copy the concept and fill it in? What do you reckon? The Rambling Man (talk) 21:54, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure about images yet. I'll have a look around later. Can you change the date format of your half of the table so it uses the standard {{dts}} template? Good work! The Rambling Man (talk) 12:02, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, feel free to add a couple more images to the Prem Lge list. But make sure they're half decent! The Rambling Man (talk) 14:10, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We could work on those, but I'd prefer to stick to the lists for the time being. I've linked the latter hat-trick friendlies to exhibition match, we should be consistent so either we link the others (including the red links) to that or we unlink exhibition match and make a fair few other red links. What do you think? The Rambling Man (talk) 10:26, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with linking to "exhibition match". 03md 10:28, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ATP No. 1s list

[edit]

I'm a tad busy answering all the requests on the Wimbly list for the moment but I'll give you some of my issues with your list soon. I think it's alright, but I feel the lead could be improved, the tables could be more simple – we can definitely spare the "Complete calendar year-number ones" section just by adding symbols in the "Year-end Number 1", and we should probably highlight the reigning ATP World Tour Champion since it's a term now used regularly by the ATP:

Number of times at top of rankings (1)
Complete calendar year-end No. 1s ∞
Reigning ATP World Tour Champion +
Year Player
1993 United States Pete Sampras (1)
1994 United States Pete Sampras (2)
1995 United States Pete Sampras (3)
1996 United States Pete Sampras (4)
1997 United States Pete Sampras (5)
1998 United States Pete Sampras (6)
1999 United States Andre Agassi (1)
2000 Brazil Gustavo Kuerten (1)
2001 Australia Lleyton Hewitt (1)
2002 Australia Lleyton Hewitt (2)
2003 United States Andy Roddick (1)
2004 Switzerland Roger Federer (1)
2005 Switzerland Roger Federer (2)
2006 Switzerland Roger Federer (3)
2007 Switzerland Roger Federer (4)
2008 Spain Rafael Nadal (1) +

I also think the page should use plenty of pictures, using "thumb|upright|right", the way it's done on my Grand Slam lists, or on the golf majors lists. May I suggest the use of these pictures: commons:Jimmy Connors cropped.jpg, commons:Bjornborg.jpg, commons:John McEnroe demonstrating his swing.jpg, commons:ILendl.jpg, commons:Agassi serve US open 05 (crop).jpg, and then perhaps pics of Hewitt, Courier, Nadal (I know we've got an Edberg pic but it's not good enough to be used, I believe). Anyway, I'll let know about the rest of my issues later. Good luck with the list. Cheers ! --Don Lope (talk) 12:45, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looks better. I would perhaps have done things differently, with pictures in chronological order (like the Wimbly list), but we'll see what other users think. You should see Wikipedia:How to fix bunched-up edit links and try to avoid that problem. --Don Lope (talk) 14:25, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Next work

[edit]

Well, you've got me stumped right now. I'll have a look round. I had no idea we'd get those two knocked off so quickly. I've kind of stalled on List of Premier League stadia for lack of good sources which have the opening/demolition years. Fancy taking a look at that one? Besides the references, it's in nice shape (if you ask me).. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:22, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What about something like your ATP list, like List of Davis Cup champions? The Rambling Man (talk) 19:03, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well we'd need to talk to ChrisTheDude about that, he did 99% of the work on List of Premier League seasons . But yes, sounds good. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:44, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
When you like. I'd like to get the stadia list finished - can you help with those references? The Rambling Man (talk) 13:10, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Heh. So, two projects, I want to ge the stadium list done, and the Rose Bowl cricket list too. Nice to see you editing there, don't forget to login! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:31, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, yes, will get back onto Rosebowl. Been busy in reality... The Rambling Man (talk) 16:07, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I had a few things to work out on the Rose Bowl list, but that one we can hopefully finish off pretty quickly. The Rambling Man (talk) 14:55, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I hope to be back on form tomorrow. I've had issues in real life, issues on en wiki and issues on Simple en wiki which have prevented me doing my best. I'd like to finish the Rosebowl list, then perhaps head onto the Test cricket stadia, then EP seasons. Sound ok? The Rambling Man (talk) 17:33, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FL Concerns

[edit]

Not really, I've never experienced this problem. How about just stacking them on top of each other? Or I think there is a code which can manually align columns, but I'm not entirely sure of how to do it. I think if I recall Help:Table had something on it, I think.--Truco 503 20:02, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's no problem, I dislike failing articles when they're so close to passing. :) Ecellent. I'll take a final look now, and leave wny further comments on the review page. Thanks once again for taking care of the points raised. ♥NiciVampireHeart15:12, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I've left a few more comments on the review page. Once they're fixed, I'll pass the article. ♥NiciVampireHeart15:40, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ATP No. 1s

[edit]

Hello 03md ! I was coming back today with more comments for the ATP No. 1s list but apparently it was closed. If you don't mind, I'd like to try out a few things with the article before a new candidacy is started. Do you plan on nominating it back soon ? Cheers, --Don Lope (talk) 14:11, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Matthewedwards left a reason for the closing at Wikipedia talk:Featured list candidates. Again, if you don't mind, I'll make a few modifications to the list (nothing big) today or tomorrow. Also, I have contacted a user on Flickr who might release some excellent, excellent tennis pics from the mid and late eighties, among which photos of young McEnroe, young(er) Connors, young Edberg, long-haired Agassi, very young Courier and Sampras, etc... Some of these pics could find their way to the Grand Slam champions lists, and most probably to the ATP No. 1 list too. --Don Lope (talk) 16:10, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I hope neither of you have been put off with the continual open proxy edits. I would encourage you both to carry on with the good work and keep improving these tennis lists as well as you have been so far! Best wishes to you both. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:57, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rosebowl

[edit]

Okay, so the stats are now all done. Can you look at expanding the lead a load, adding some stats on tournaments, maybe find a lead image? Also, since it's non-sortable, we need to unlink things that have already been linked. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:43, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Simpsons

[edit]

If you take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject The Simpsons/Featured topic Drive/season 3, you can see that "Saturdays of Thunder" and "The Otto Show" still haven't been worked on. Maybe we should do one of those? I have links to some reviews here that might be useful for reception sections. I can do the production section since I have the DVD. Let me know which one you wanna work on. :) Theleftorium 21:17, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, you can start working on it now (or whenever you have time) and add some sources. I have to go soon so I can't help out until tomorrow, though. Theleftorium 21:26, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I was actually about to start right now. :) I'll clean up Saturdays of Thunder a bit. Theleftorium 19:43, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll work more on the article tomorrow and on Friday (I'll try to add the production info on Friday). Can you see if you can find some more reviews for the reception section? Theleftorium 20:37, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I was actually planning on finishing Saturdays of Thunder today, but I had a terrible headache this morning. :P I'll get it done tomorrow. By the way, can you expand the reception section for The Otto Show? Theleftorium 21:23, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated the article now. Theleftorium 16:24, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been lazy busy so I haven't had time to work on any articles yet. If you could expand the reception section for The Otto Show, that would be good. Theleftorium 16:08, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2009 Twenty20 Cup matches

[edit]

I don't see why it wouldn't be reasonable to create separate articles. I would do it myself, but I'm rather swamped with other things just now. – PeeJay 10:02, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2009 Twenty20 Cup

[edit]

Just thought I'd drop a quick message here as well as at WT:CRIC.

I've made a start on your request at 2009 Twenty20 Cup South Division, rather than stick all three groups in the same article (say for example at 2009 Twenty20 Cup group stage). Main reason being, the half-finished article I've quickly created for now already comes in at 21kb, I dread to think how big it would get if all three groups were there (for comparison: 2008 Twenty20 Cup group stage weighs in at a hefty 97kb)! Plus I reckon if we have the three groups seperate it becomes easier to navigate.

Feel free to dive in and finish it off if you like – it is, unfortunately, one of the most tedious exercises going, as I've discovered over the last couple of hours...! — AMBerry (talk) 23:09, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Collapsible footballboxes

[edit]

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of collapsible footballboxes. I think that just the result and attendance is enough for the early rounds, especially since there is a link to the BBC match report on each line. – PeeJay 12:15, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm already on it, mate. Doing the line-ups and stuff as we speak. – PeeJay 17:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tennis articles

[edit]

I have gone through the 1996 WTA Tour article and everything is in order now. I will come back to the 1996 ATP Tour soon but having noticed the lack of depth of information about women's tennis will be continuing to write articles about 1996 and 1997 for the time being. I will try to come back to the 1996 ATP Tour soon though. Totalinarian (talk) 17:20, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have gone through the 1996 ATP Tour template and everything should now be in order. Keep up the great work. Totalinarian (talk) 19:02, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of music releases by...

[edit]

Hi, I think you've done a brilliant job with the three articles List of music releases from Popstars contestants, List of music releases from Pop Idol contestants and List of music releases from Fame Academy contestants and I wondered if you were planning to do one for The X Factor. It would be really appreciated, if you have time. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 23:51, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure of other sites but I think chartstats is generally the one that's accepted on Wikipedia. It's the only one listed at WP:GOODCHARTS, so I don't think there would be any problem sourcing all chart positions using it (unless you want to use news articles for some of them). I think 13 contestants have released singles (plus one from multiple contestants) and 15 appear to have released albums, going by what the X Factor article says, but overall there aren't that many singles between them. There is a section there for releases but your lists are much better formatted. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:17, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If Chartstats was unreliable, editors wouldn't have listed it on WP:GOODCHARTS. By the way when I searched on there quickly just now I saw that "The Impossible Dream" did chart in the top 100, but that was probably only from download sales. A lot of Leona Lewis's album tracks charted in the top 100 due to download sales, so I don't know if they should be mentioned, though only official singles should be put in the actual singles table. I look forward to seeing the article and will help out where I can! AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:32, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
By the way I've just had a look at the FLC for the Fame Academy article and it seems if Chartstats isn't going to be considered reliable then offline sources will have to be used, but I say just use chartstats and if they won't accept it then tell them to go to hell. Why should you go out and buy a book or subscribe to an INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE magazine just so you can add references to Wikipedia? AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:38, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I realised I replied on my own talk page, so in case you didn't spot my reply, that's where it is! AnemoneProjectors (talk) 13:02, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New GA

[edit]

Thanks for helping out in the Australia 31-0 American Samoa GA nomination, I've been away and I don't have regular internet access, therefore I was unable to see the review. Anyway, thanks for helping out and I don't mind to share the credit with you or any other users that have improve the article. All I do was just cleaning up the article and nominating it. — Martin tamb (talk) 09:11, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Simpsons GAs

[edit]

Don't worry about it. I won't be able to work on any articles for at least a few weeks. I'm just too busy right now. :/ Theleftorium 14:41, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help with Bart's Friend Falls in Love. Hopefully I'll be able to do the production section for The Otto Show sometime soon so we can take it to GAN. Theleftorium 15:26, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Football in England season templates

[edit]

Mate, what you're doing seems fine to me, but you don't need my permission. I'll see what I can do about looking at the templates, but my watchlist is extremely large at the minute, so a lot of my non-real life time is taken up with monitoring those pages. Apologies for not replying to you straight away. I hope you understand. – PeeJay 23:32, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, similar story to PeeJay - I'm afraid I don't have time to help you out on any big project at the minute, am snowed under at work! GiantSnowman 18:04, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I seem like a dunce, but what do you want me to add to the templates? GiantSnowman 18:26, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, don't worry, everything looks fine! Well done on all the hard work btw. GiantSnowman 19:01, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Simpsons

[edit]

Sorry, I'm in the middle of the WikiCup so I can't collaborate on any articles right now. Can you wait a few days? I'll take a look then. Theleftorium 20:05, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you keeping track of this? Dabomb87 (talk) 23:24, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Answers 1996 WTA Tour

[edit]

Hi. Apologies for the silence. You did a great job. Currently I have several different projects that I'm busy on the ears. As for the question, I think the labor expended in the compilation of tables should not return. My opinion - no need

Re:Football qualifying tournament articles

[edit]

Thanks for your message. I noticed that the qualifying tournaments for the EURO Championships were quite often incomplete or totally missing. I'm planning on filling in the missing bits and then probably try to standardise the articles as they don't all match! --Markh991 (talk) 11:26, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
