Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Casas de Monleón.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Image[edit]

You're correct, if the image is on Commons with the same filename, then just deleting the version that's saved directly on en: is the correct process. I've deleted the local version of File:Method_of_same-sex_marriage_legalization.svg per your request — if you click on it now, you'll see that the first template under the image now says "This is a file from the Wikimedia Commons. Information from its description page there is shown below." Bearcat (talk) 03:55, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for taking care of this!! 0nlyth3truth (talk) 20:58, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's not that it was "inappropriate", so much as that I really don't know what to make of the situation. I've looked at it, but as a Canadian I don't have nearly enough expertise in the nuances of American law to really sort out what's right and what's wrong. Comments and input on maps[edit]

Viewing the history, I see that you're primarily responsible for the Method of SSM Legalization map (File:Method_of_same-sex_marriage_legalization.svg). I'd like to thank you for the map and for your effort, and to offer one change: Although Same-sex marriage in Connecticut was at first legalized through a state court decision in 2008, the state legislature passed a bill (Public Act 09-13) to make marriage gender-neutral in the state's statutes a year later. Thus, in keeping with your scheme, the state (currently light blue  ) should be striped medium blue  . MarkGT (talk) 18:46, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@MarkGT: There's actually a rather ridiculous fight between Prcc27 and me documented on that map's talk page about this issue, which also includes CA since it passed a statute as well that goes into effect next year. I have argued strongly against including this information on the map, mainly because 1) a statute passed years after a court order isn't "legalizing" anything because it's already legal, 2) including this information would involve updating the map decades hence when various states finally decide to turn court decisions into statutes (which would also make almost the entire map striped eventually) and 3) there is precedent on a similar map to not include this information. I was previously also fighting over putting this info in the legend. I was a bit hot-headed on that point so I'm no longer opposed, and I think with your comment I'll go ahead and update the legend thus. 0nlyth3truth (talk) 19:15, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I was not aware of that argument. I saw the stripes already on there and just assumed that's how it was going. I don't want to get in the middle; so I leave it to you to decide - my goal was merely to make sure you had the info. MarkGT (talk)

Date of same-sex legalization in the United States map[edit]

Hey, was getting back in touch concerning the topic of making Obergefell changes to your map from the discussion we had about the new legend. I haven't heard any insight from others beyond your support and Pcc27's support as well, so was wondering...should it wait until after Kansas recognizes licenses or not? If the change can be made, all I ask is if you would be able to do it. I guess the only thing I could contribute was the idea, as I don't have the ability to edit .svg files. I apologize for overreaching I guess :/ Ghal416 (talk) 02:05, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
