February 2022[edit]

Information icon Thank you for making a report about 60.53.132.106 (talk · contribs · block log) at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If the user continues to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. Thank you. ―sportzpikachu my talkcontribs 05:41, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Sportzpikachu: I don't understand why you're telling this user this if the IP they reported has been blocked. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 05:43, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: Multiple reasons, firstly I made this warning before the IP was blocked, second it was a misuse of AIV as there was no sign of warning and only two reverted edits. ―sportzpikachu my talkcontribs 05:45, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sportzpikachu: Alright. Although a user doesn't always have to be warned to be reported to AIV (although usually those are cases where the user is clearly only here to vandalize so a warning wouldn't do much good). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 05:47, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: Usually apart from gross vandalism (where even a 4im would be issued) vandals should have vandalized past their final warning before going to AIV: Except for egregious cases, the user must have been given enough warning(s) to stop their disruptive behavior. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
