Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Portal:Current events, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Carter00000 (talk) 10:59, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • I took a closer look at the event and the guidelines. The event guidelines states that an event is likely notable if the event has enduring historical significance and meets the general notability guideline. (a lasting effect is not per se needed) (see point 1).
Such a crash would nowadays be just a news item and probably doesn’t meet GNG. But see it in the era of the 1920s. The crash was in the very early era of international passenger flights (that started in August 1919). With about the biggest passengers airplane of that era.
As it was so new (imagine it with space tourism nowadays) a passenger crash was main news. See for intstance reference [4] where 2.5 of the 4 columns is about the crash. Also stated in [4] is that the crash had the opportunity to decrease the total of airplane tickets. Not only for KLM but in general. That is nowadays not possible with such a crash and shows the impact.
The crash also caused a public discussion about airliner insurance, see reference [7].
The crash is one of the 6 important events in the history (from the 19th century till now) of the region Locquignol; with 2 of the other 6 being WW I and WW II. (See reference [6]).
There is still attention for the crash, even 100 years later an article is written about it (see reference [1]) 109.37.132.144 (talk) 12:10, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your comparison with "space tourism nowadays" is interesting, but my assessment is based only on what's in the draft itself, matched against the WP:EVENTCRITERIA—particularly the sub-sections of WP:EVENTCRITERIA that deal with local events and the creation of precedents: WP:GEOSCOPE and WP:EFFECT.--AntientNestor (talk) 14:38, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
