License tagging for File:M.A.M.Ramaswamy.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:M.A.M.Ramaswamy.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:05, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:M.A.M.Ramaswamy.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:M.A.M.Ramaswamy.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 16:14, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

GA nomination of Chennai[edit]

12asfer12, I have reverted your nomination of Chennai because the nomination did not follow the GA nomination instructions. In particular, you seem to have missed the following: Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article on the article talk page prior to a nomination. This would need to be done before you do another nomination, and the consultation should last at least the standard seven days. (I've checked, and you have a single edit from earlier this year, and then two edits from 2010. This is not significant.)

Before you do, however, you will want to update the article, since there are many instances of "as of 2012", which is a long time for such facts and figures. There is also a "better source needed" template that needs to be dealt with, and at least four bare URLs that will have to be properly filled in. Also, as nominator, it will be your responsibility to work on the article to address any issues that the reviewer might raise in the course of their review. I hope you are prepared to do this, because if you aren't, there's no point in nominating it.

When Chennai was last reviewed for GA status two years ago (see Talk:Chennai/GA1), the reviewer found a very large number of issues and had to fail the nomination. It is important that you check to be sure they have been addressed since then, and take care of any that haven't been. Otherwise, it will just be failed again.

I hope you aren't discouraged by this. Chennai is a vital article on Wikipedia, and it's great that someone wants to see it recognized. I wish you the best of luck going forward. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:34, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on L&T Edutech, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I appreciate your message and understand the concerns raised regarding the speedy deletion tag on the L&T Edutech page. I would like to express that the information added to the page is based on verifiable references from reputable sources such as official press releases and news articles. These sources aim to provide factual and unbiased information about L&T Edutech.
I believe the content adheres to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and I am more than willing to work collaboratively to address any issues raised. I will contest the speedy deletion nomination to provide a detailed explanation of the sources and the relevance of the content.
If there are specific aspects that need improvement or if you have any suggestions to ensure compliance, please let me know. I am committed to contributing constructively to Wikipedia and maintaining the platform's standards.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

January 2024[edit]

Information icon

Hello 12afser12. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:12afser12. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=12afser12|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Seraphimblade Talk to me 15:29, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your diligence in ensuring compliance with Wikipedia's policies. I want to clarify that I am not involved in any paid advocacy or edits for financial gain. My contributions are driven by a genuine interest in contributing to the platform and sharing accurate information.
If there are concerns about my edits, I am more than willing to address them and adhere to Wikipedia's guidelines. I understand the importance of transparency, and I assure you that I will not proceed with any further edits until this matter is resolved.
Additionally, I have included references with verifiable proof from L&T Edutech, supporting the information added to the articles. These references are:

I'm not quite sure I buy that. Regardless, the issue was not (at least not immediately) lack of sources. Rather, the issue is promotion. As some examples: a renowned conglomerate ("renowned" is an inappropriate puff adjective), extensive reservoir of knowledge and expertise acquired through the successful execution of intricate and challenging projects ("extensive", "successful", "intricate", "challenging", etc., are all inappropriate editorializing), Its primary goal (don't care about their "goal" or "mission" or "vision" or any of that fluff; we care about what reliable and independent sources confirm they have actually done), and the rest goes on and on like that. Marketese, puffery, and the like are not appropriate in articles. They should be written in plain, formal language, which sticks to neutrally describing facts verified by reliable sources. Leave the reader to determine if they think an approach is "innovative" or experience is "extensive"; just give them the facts and let them draw their own conclusions. Seraphimblade Talk to me 16:35, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I acknowledge your concerns about the use of inappropriate puff adjectives and editorializing language. I will carefully review the content and make the necessary revisions to ensure that the article adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines. Your emphasis on providing factual information supported by reliable sources without unnecessary promotional language is duly noted. Afser Ali 05:19, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Custom signature fix needed[edit]

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
