Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia. Jeppiz (talk) 23:41, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How am I engaging in disruption? Both of my talk page comments have been directly related to the content of the page and the rhetoric being presented. What is the point of a collaborative encyclopedia where you get all mention of the conflicts present in an article reverted? 208.180.58.74 (talk) 23:42, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Please see WP:NOTFORUM. We do not generally debate politics or current events in either articles or talk pages. In this situation obviously emotions are running high on all sides and it's especially important to try and remain dispassionate in our reporting. We confine ourselves to what is being reported in reliable secondary sources. I will append some links to help you understand how we operate here. Best regards... -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:06, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did not feel as if i was debating politics, I was just being pragmatic about the nature of the article. That being said, if it's not my place, maybe I will sit it out and read more of the policies. 208.180.58.74 (talk) 00:18, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well this comment is pretty clearly not neutral and not only takes sides but seems to advocate that Wikipedia do so also. I do understand heat of the moment comments. You'd have to have the heart of a stone not to be moved by the events of the last ten days. But again, this is when we need to be as objective as possible and confine ourselves to what is being reported in reliable sources. A huge part of the world looks to us for comprehensive and unbiased information on often highly contentious topics. -Ad Orientem (talk) 00:25, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia![edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia!
Hello IP user. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Ad Orientem, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge. Although you're free to perform most tasks on Wikipedia without registering, it's highly recommended you create an account as there are many added benefits. It's private and secure and it's also free, simple, and quick to do.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{Help me}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you could put a link to it on your user page.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this IP's talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, Ad Orientem (talk(Leave me a message) 00:06, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

April 2024[edit]

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this IP address or network has been used to disrupt Wikipedia. It has been blocked from editing to prevent further abuse.
If you are not the intended target of this block, please read the information below in order to receive assistance.
Wikipedia tries to be open, but we sometimes must block IP addresses to prevent editing by abusers, vandals, or block evaders. These blocks can affect users who have done nothing wrong. If you are a legitimate user, follow the instructions below to edit despite the block. Users who are the intended target of a range block may still appeal the block.

IP users (without an account): If you do not have an account and wish to bypass this block, an account can be created to allow you to edit. In general, these blocks only prevent users who are not logged in from editing; once you are logged in, the block will no longer affect you in any way. To request an account, simply click here and follow the directions provided on the page. It is important that you use an e-mail address issued to you by your ISP, school, or organisation, so we may verify that you are a legitimate user. When filling out the account request form, please refer to this block in the "comments" input field. If you've been instructed to request an account via email, please refer to this block in your message.

Registered users (with an account): Please make sure you are logged in to your account. If you are unable to edit while logged in, you may request IP block exemption to bypass blocks unconnected with you that affect your editing. Post an unblock request to your user talk page.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
