What?

What are you talking about? Leave me alone! Canihaveacookie, 17:48:12 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Canihaveacookie (talkcontribs) 17:49, 8 August 2015

@Canihaveacookie: Well, I thought it was obvious what I was "talking about". Your username constitutes a question. My one and only comment to you ever [1] was a talk-page request to use edit summaries using a 'play' on your username:
"... yes, you can have a cookie if you start using edit summaries!"
and a suggestion to archive your talkpage rather than 'deleting' it. Yours is a rather unexpected reply from someone who has been editing Wikipedia (WP) since 2007 and has over 21,000 edits.
If you don't want anyone posting on your talk-page, why are you on Wikipedia? That is what your talk-page is for. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and editors talk together via talk-pages to achieve that. You may find Wikipedia:Assume good faith (WP:AGF) of help, if you haven't read it before.
I assumed good faith of you, have I made a mistake in doing so when a simple query is answered in such a way?
Have a cookie anyway. 220 of Borg 21:03, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Reply: When I'd first read your note to me earlier today, it made no sense; and, I thought you to be some tactless, trouble-causing clown. Anyway, from the beginning of my time on Wikipedia many people who fancy themselves as editors here have treated me like dog sh*t on their shoes. That's the trouble with a site that allows anyone to edit anybody else's work. Some "insecures" and some "control freaks" just lord over other potential editors these pages as God's gift only to them and to no one else - as if they're dogs whose food bowl is being taken from them. And, this nonsense has taken all the joy out of an exercise intended for fun and enjoyment and turned it into a pain in the *ss for me. So, for the most part I don't really care what people think of me, what people want of me, or what people expect of me on this site. I only try to mind my own business and wish others on this site would do the same. And, I find it disconcerting that you had the time and took the time to see when my start date was on this site and how many edits over that time I've made. Maybe you should take up a hobby so you don't have so much time to be in other people's business. Btw, I like my user name a lot. However, I can't stand when others try to be "cute" with it. No, you aren't the first, and very unfortunately, you won't be the last. Now, please leave me alone. User: Canihaveacookie, 1:34:12, 8/8/'15
@Canihaveacookie: Sorry for taking so long to reply. (I type slowly and started replying to your first post today, but got sidetracked with other issues). I certainly haven't treated you like "dog sh*t"! I think have been particularly polite. I know how it feels though, I almost left after about 500 edits when a 'certain editor', who should have known better, made a rude and unnecessary remark to me. It is indeed unfortunate that you feel you have been badly treated. This is a recognised problem. I think you can thank all the vandals, WP:Sockpuppets and editors trying to promote themselves and/or their businesses for that.
• If you have been treated badly by other editors then they could be in trouble. Wikipedia (WP) has a rule: WP:Please do not bite the newcomers (WP:BITE). Remember, everything we write on Wikipedia is there for the entire on-line 'world' to read. Any edit to Wikipedia (WP) is everybody's business. if it wasn't, Wikipedia would be useless as an on-line Encyclopedia. It would just be laudatory autobiographies, press releases, bus/train timetables and business advertisements!
• You can use this template {{admin help}} for help from an Administrator, or ask at the WP: Administrators' noticeboard. {{help}} is for more general help from any editor.
• As I said before "Wikipedia is a collaborative effort", it is almost impossible to edit in total isolation. If other editors are commenting on your talk-page, perhaps there is a reason. I often post 'template' messages (see WP:UTM) to talk-pages to welcome, and give advice to editors, mostly new ones. If you look back through my talk-page history you will see that some thank me for doing so.
• If you are not enjoying editing WP, then the main suggestion I can make after 8+ years is don't edit WP, or take a 'Wikibreak'. (Sometimes it gives me the sh*ts too! )
• "Disconcerting" information about your number of edits and when you started (and mine) is available almost instantly via a utility called wp:Popups, if you have it enabled in your preferences. All I have to do is place my mouse cursor over your username and, there it is! Or click on "Edit count" at the bottom of any registered editors contribution history. My count, and much more, is here.
• If you username is 'causing' problems you could change it, but can't you understand why people may find it amusing, or make light-hearted comments like I did about getting a cookie in return for edit summaries?
• If you want to be left alone I will, as far as WP policy allows me to. I might be able to help with those "control freaks", though.
Too long! I tried to cover all points, regards, 220 of Borg 04:03, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
@Canihaveacookie: OMG! The Martians have landed, and they're flying giant chocolate chip cookies! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
(Or start eating!) 220 of Borg 06:41, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Note: Above comment refers to a (now reverted) 2000x px sized choc chip cookie hovering over my talk page like an Alien UFO. 220 of Borg 04:37, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
Now that's funny! LOL! Some people here would be p*ssed off to see another person do this on their talk pages. Have a day. User: Canihaveacookie, 13:35:10, August 9, 2015
5 Indents added to above post. 220 of Borg 19:54, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
@Canihaveacookie: Well that's true. Changing another editors comments in any way, even 'correcting' their 'speeling' is very frowned upon (basically don't do it) and some editors will get very riled. (See WP:Talk page guidelines esp. WP:TPO).
I do expect you to revert your edit back by the way, making the cookie big is, for me today, no big deal, but actually adding "LOL" to my comment, per the talk-page guidelines, isn't a good idea. If you had caught me in a really bad mood after being stuffed around by another editor say (and little sleep), I may not have been so 'forgiving'. :-/ See prior discussion section, for example, User talk:220 of Borg#Stop.
• You can again, thank those who change peoples comments in a negative of deliberately deceptive way. I believe that one basic rule is "only if their edit makes a page difficult to read", like it messes up the formatting (all the text become really big/small, or the line is really long, making the 'page' really wide.) And you shouldn't change your own comments in a way that changes its meaning, after it has been answered. For example if you make a big error, like mis attributing an edit to the wrong editor, you should openly strike out the error and insert a correction with an edit summary and even a comment in the text. "I have indented your post for readability" or "Broken URL fixed ~~~~". 'Pop-ups' again reveal to me what you were up to, via the WP:Notifications system without even having to come back to my talk-page. PS.You are forgetting to use the 'four tildes' ~~~~ to sign. Thus, .
• Now it is 'UZT' time for me the "Z" indicating Zzzzzs or 'Universal Zleepy Time', as I have only had a few hours of 'keyboard' nap, and need a few more hours, after 5.50 in the morning! (not unusual for me) 220 of Borg 19:54, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Since the cookie pic was part of your comment to me, I never would've given it a second thought if you'd have reverted my shenanigans. User: Canihaveacookie, 2:13:37, 8/9/'15
But more .... instructive to have you undo your own "shenanigans". You should use ~~~~ to sign as that also provides a link to your account, which is actually required. (See WP:SIGLINK) Or is there something awry with your signature? No, it looks like you are signing manually. (see diff) A "standard 'sig' look something like Canihaveacookie (talk · contribs). Mine is 'customised.'
• Did you note my edits to Tali Lennox? Never edited there before, but then I got 'caught up' because I found out she had a kayak accident on Saturday morning in New York, and her '"long time" boyfriend was missing afterwards. - 220 of Borg 04:37, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello, 220 of Borg. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Bikram Samvat, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway. You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Nrwairport (talk) 06:41, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

@Nrwairport: I think you may need to look at the criteria for deletion of Redirects (not articles). I created that redirect because the page it led to (Vikram Samvat) nominated "Bikram Samvat", in the first line, as an alternative spelling/ term for the page it went to, I originally went there because I edited some Nepal related pages that had dates nominated as "B.S.", with no indication what that meant. I workd out it was "Bikram Samvat", but that exact term was not linked to that page as several other variations are. (See them here). In other words, a perfectly valid re-direct. - 220 of Borg 07:14, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
@220 of Borg: I have removed the deletion proposal. Next time you propose a redirect, be sure to discuss it in the article's talk page. Nrwairport (talk) 07:21, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
• Note that I have added 2 indents to the above post for clarity of 'thread' & per normal WP practice. 220 of Borg 07:42, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
@Nrwairport: How kind of you! But I wasnt proposing a re-direct. I WP:boldly created one. Could you kindly direct me to the policy or guideline that says I have to discuss such a matter on the talk page?
I was writing a little note to you on your talkpage, but came back here to answer your message. I suggest you read it carefully when I finish it. Regards, 220 of Borg 07:42, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

Wow, that is amazing!

Wow, that is amazing!

i.e.

11 September 2001 aka 9/11 On the night of 11 September 2001 I 'nodded off' in front of my computer.

I woke up just in time to see the plane fly into the second World Trade Centre tower, at 9.03 EDT,

or 23:03 AEST in Sydney. Australia. 220 of Borg 14:13, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

so you've been permanently changed by this experience and it has remained with you to the extent to which your user-page shows only that particular moment as a representation of your existence #220?

Whalestate (talk) 18:41, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

@Whalestate: No, I edit Wikipedia too, "I edit, therefore I am".
But seriously no. I must have been feeling a bit moody, and being the 14th anniversary of 9/11. I thought to mark it in some way. I was working on building sites (including 'high rise') at that time. Made you think. So I told that little (true) story, but it's only been on my User-page since 11 Sept. 2015. [3]
It didn't affect me directly (being in Australia). I thought that I may have spent the next ≈24 hours straight watching the aftermath, but on checking it was a Tuesday. I think I was on a building site the next day though. 220 of Borg 04:34, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Thank you for comment

Thank you for the message you left me regarding my response to someone that was on their user page instead of their user talk page. Could you please explain briefly how I should leave messages, comments and thanks? It would help refresh my memory about these thing. Thanks. Shimon Yanowitz (talk) 19:36, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Shimon Yanowitz, no time now for a detailed answer, but whatever you did this time worked for "leave messages". A standard 'sig' has "(talk)" as yours does. Mine is customised so you click on Borg. Clicking on that will bring you to the editors' talk page. At the top of their page you should see a little (heart) symbol, click on that for one way of 'thanking' others with a customised message. 220 of Borg 21:23, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Reply regarding your advice

Hi 220 of Borg,

Thanks for your advice.

Despite being a new editor on Wikipedia I do have some experience on the similar editing webpage wikia.com. I created this account on Wikipedia because for my studies and personal interests I would like to keep the List of Islamist terrorist attacks page up to date. I understand the controversy surrounding said page though and understand I should keep the notability in mind.

My apologies for one of my edits that wasn't too NPOV. Your advice regarding the neutral point of view has been duly noted and I shall do my best to avoid such mistakes in the future.

As for the the vulgar language used in one of my edit summaries, apologies for that aswell. As said before, I do have some experience on Wikia so I still have to get used to the formalities of WP. (Formalities the other website sometimes lacks.)

Last but not least, as mentioned I'd like to keep the List of Islamist terrorist attacks page up to date, and for my studies (and interests) I frequently follow various news sources. Would you consider the reports from amongst others Russia Today about the attack in Kabul 5th of October notable enough? Can I add attacks claimed by organisations known for Islamic terrorism such as the Taliban? Or should I avoid adding attacks in nations where such acts of terror take place on a frequent basis? (i.e. Afghanistan, Iraq)

Best regards,

Akhilinfotech I did not delete the page. Admins. can delete pages, I am not an admin.
You are very likely a sock puppet of banned user Gekay job solutions (talk · contribs). That means you are not allowed to edit Wikipedia (WP).
Akhil G Krishnan, Akhil .G. Krishnan, Akhil g krishnan or Akhil. G. Krishnan are not notable, and 'they' are trying to use WP to advertise themself, so I will not help you. 220 of Borg 12:34, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Please don't use the {{help me}} template, that is meant for you to use on your talk page.
No. Did you read what I said above, and on your talk page? What about what is said here Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Gekay job solutions? That biography has been deleted about ten times, under four different names. 220 of Borg 13:00, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @Akhilinfotech: Wikipedia is not a place for you to write about yourself. You can do that at sites like Facebook and Linkedin, but Wikipedia is different - see WP:Autobiography and WP:Conflict of interest. Also, you cannot simply create new accounts to evade a block. If you want to edit, you must request an unblock in order to change username at your original account, user Gekay job solutions (talk), but you will need to explain what sort of contributions you would make if unblocked, which would not be about yourself or your company. JohnCD (talk) 13:04, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

G4 - sorry, you can't use it when the article was speedied, and this one was. However, I've speedied it A7 and added 'Probable hoax too' as I can find not a single thing (in the three pages of ghits for "ceco of google". What a 'ceco' is, I'm not sure, but Google doesn't seem to have one. Peridon (talk) 16:19, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Ceco perhaps? ThanksPeridon, and its already recreated! (and deleted again!) Must be almost 15 times now, under various page names. 220 of Borg 16:28, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for that. That makes it a blatant hoax as he appears to be 15. Admins here can be 15, but that job looks like even in daddy's own company it wouldn't go to a teen. Peridon (talk) 16:52, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
Indeed Peridon, I have noticed a (ahem, cough) slight tendency to 'self aggrandisement' among editors from the subcontinent.
Instead of "I am 'Prakash Mirchandani', I attend school in Mumbai. I like Teletubbies and Superman." they are like:
"I am an inventor, entrepreneur, actor, producer, playback singer, author, poet, web designer and Indias'/Pakistans'/Bangaldeshs' youngest CEO".
And notable enough for my own Wikipedia page with my first ever edit to it. Add the selfie with them dressed up like a Bollywood star ... Facepalm Facepalm. 220 of Borg 00:28, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
Oh no! He does (try to) sing! https://wwwDOTyoutubeDOTcom/watch?v=fQFBKoFyu9U. 220 of Borg 00:51, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
You didn't mention the frequent seen 'philanthropist'... Peridon (talk) 18:31, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
How did I forget that! What about "social worker"?! What other silly things do they say?
Our 'friend' had another sock, Freakinghaasan jain (talk · contribs), put in the drawer today. 220 of Borg 18:42, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

I JethroBT (WMF) suggested that I consult with fellow Wikipedians to get feedback and help to improve my idea about "As an unparalleled way to raise awareness of the Wikimedia projects, I propose to create a tremendous media opportunity presented by launching Wikipedia via space travel."

Please see the idea at meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Wikipedia_likes_Galactic_Exploration_for_Posterity_2015. Please post your suggestions on the talk page and please feel free to edit the idea and join the project.

Andrew Scipione

Thanks for alerting me to the deletion you made. I can't see what the problem is. Scipione did attend the funeral of the pederastic old fraud, Frank Houston. It's in the public domain. Scipione was fully aware of Houston's errr... indiscretions as they were also in the public domain. Scipione should be called out on that and the fact that no action was taken by the NSW police (on his watch) against the proprietors of Hillsong despite their obligation under NSW laws to report any information on such matters to the authorities. I am prepared to concede that "In 2004 Scipione attended the funeral of the Hillsong sexual predator, Frank Houston." could be reworded. What do you suggest? Silent Billy (talk) 10:58, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for not getting back to you Silent Billy about your Andrew Scipione edit. [4] Apart from the wording "sexual predator", paedophile would have been more accurate (assuming Houston Sr. was convicted-apparently not- and described by a RS as such, ). The whole point really is, is it encyclopaedic, i.e. significant and notable, especially over 10 years later? Why did Scipione go? If he turned out to be 'one of those' then it might be notable. Otherwise, the info might be usable on a page about Houston Sr. himself (or the Church) or if there were other 'notable' people that attended. I'm not an expert in BLPs, but that is my feeling. 220 of Borg 16:39, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Sermo -> SERMO

Hi there, thanks so much for your advice and clarity. I am clearly new to Wikipedia from an editing stand point and although I had read all of that about the 4-10 day period, I had hoped a simple redirect would help. I do wish to respect the rules of this wonderful community, so I was hoping you or another admin could help me MOVE the page as you described in your note. The article was badly outdated and didn't capitalize the name of the community like they do.

Also, I noticed it read like a press release and tried to split up the About and History portions while fixing some broken links without removing any information, just moving it around and more efficiently. By starting with cleaning it up, I am confident others will be able to add to the page. I appreciate your guidance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vanderdoc (talkcontribs) 15:50, 29 October 2015‎

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Well the story is shared that Wikiclaus was visiting a house where, unknown to him the youngsters were allowed to stay up past midnight to edit Wikipedia. He scolded them for being up so late and they captured him, made sure he was no longer suitable for the public, and then tied him down with Christmas lights so they could get back to editing. Why shouldn't his middle name be used in the article title? See also Wikipedia:Article titles.
In fact the correct place to discuss this is at Talk:Arsh Shah Dilbagi, that's what that page is for. 220 of Borg 12:22, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your message 220, yes I saw that but wasn't quite sure what was the best course of action :) However, @SteveDorf: then reverted all my editing. The edit summaries say he was trying to put the middle name back? I've reverted to the version that no longer has all the formatting errors and excessive references etc, assuming the rest of the undoing was a mistake (taking the edit summary in good faith) so not sure if the name now needs to be made consistent again? Thanks, Melcous (talk) 21:38, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

@Melcous: I'm starting to see wp:Famous young Indian of the week (WP:FYIOTW) syndrome. (Which term I just made up). The page was created by a new SPA editor, then another new SPA editor insists on changing the name by cut and paste? I have seen similar strange carry ons about twice before. BLP articles created about teenage Indian tech 'wizards', which IIRC in one case was finally deleted as non notable, or became an attack page, can't remember exactly.
I got involved when I saw the 'new' page on Special:NewPagesFeed wasn't new but a cut and paste move. So revert, redirect, rinse repeat. They reverted me first saying:
"The page already exists - in this page middle name of the user is mentioned which is not to be done!"
which is a new page naming rule to me, and I had a look at that, though I have made many more new re-directs than new articles so no expert on the area. (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people) seems the correct policy, esp WP:Middle names) which does not say anything about "... middle name ... should not be included in the page title"
The editors insistence on this issue makes me suspect they have a COI of some sort. At least they are using edit summaries, but that makes me think they aren't as newbish as they seem.
59.145.190.94 (talk · contribs) was also involved, but a week ago, making some silly redirects of existing redirects, like here and the ARH dab page here.
After me waffling on, apart from not really caring too much (crap overload), and maybe 'MOS Nazis' will have conniptions, so long as the page is internally consistent and readers can find the page, I'm not too fussed about what Arsh Shah Dilbagi is called. On a quick look at the diffs here, it seems OK as is. 220 of Borg 00:37, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
Here's one of the WP:FYIOTW I was thinking of, Shubham Banerjee (13-years-old!) at the pages largest size. It now redirects to Braigo, which is what he is notable for. 220 of Borg 01:04, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Happy New Year 220 of Borg!

Oh thanks Poepkop. I sort of missed it actually. I was trying to comfort a dog (not mine even!) that was freaking out from very loud fireworks. Then the dog got loose and zoooom gone. Fortunately it was found again. 220 of Borg 14:29, 31 December 2015 (UTC).
Ah, I am still waiting for it ;-) Yeah some animals go completely berzerk from fireworks, not nice for them. Hope he/she calmed down now. Are you sure we would want to assimilate such a nervous type of dog ;-) Poepkop (talk) 14:39, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
Maybe not, after all she's a bitch. But yes, first time I've seen firework freak-out first hand. They were very close and very loud. These shit-heads let them off in the middle of the road, and then left them there. Like a cube almost a foot square! When I went to have look, a car ran over it just as I got there! 220 of Borg 14:47, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Your Message

Thanks for your message. Why would I take a deletion of a page personally? It wasn't ready and so deserved to be taken down. As for minor edits, thanks for your advice, will take it on board :) Wendygreen11 (talk) 06:12, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

@Wendygreen11: unfortunately quite a few new editors do get upset, especially when it is their (non-notable) autobiography that is deleted! Then there are those who are being paid to edit, or trying to advertise their company, garage band, private theories etc, they get really ... annoyed! 220 of Borg 06:25, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
@220 of Borg: Well I thought creating a page to which I was unaffiliated would be a great way to be objective. When I do fix it and put it back up, I will have great editors like you and Watson have a look at it :) Wendygreen11 (talk) 06:37, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
@Wendygreen11: you could also consider WP:Draft, or WP:AFC, though that's a bit backlogged. You can also create a WP: Subpage of your userpage to work on it, until you think it's ready. Special:NewPagesFeed may also be of interest, you can see what happens to other new pages, and the various deletion processes. 220 of Borg 11:06, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

About an edit

Hi. I noticed that you have said something to me about an edit in Chris Gayle page. But, I really don't know what is that stupidity I did. If you can clearly say it, then I can understand. I must say that I never ever did edits to harm anyone. Thanks. Gihan Jayaweera (talk) 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi back Gihan Jayaweera (and Happy New Year!).
• I only asked you to please use edit summaries more often.
• I also tweaked your user page a little, and
• gave a warning to an IP editor who made a rude comment about you in their edit summary (click here to see it) at the Chris Gayle page.
PS. When talking about a page it is always a good idea to provide a link to that page. 220 of Borg 06:05, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
Hi. and Happy New Year to you as well. Yep, I got the point. I will edit the summaries in every occasion from this point. Thanks for informing me. Space Oddity by David Bowie 1969

How can listening to material from 1969 (48 years ago) be "original research? Dickie birdie (talk) 12:06, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Answered at Dickie birdies' talk page. [5] 220 of Borg 12:41, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
BTW, there's material by Donna Summer, Grateful Dead, etc - not to mention recordings by Frankie Laine (78s) and Bing Crosby (sheet music) where information cannot be gleaned from books because it has not been written down and the only way it can be written about is from being listened to. Dickie birdie (talk) 12:09, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
It's not "reliably sourced" in print that "Space Oddity" of 1969 exists in two different versions. If you can find a written source for that anywhere, let me know, Dickie birdie (talk) 12:37, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Donna Summer - Love to Love You Baby - Mistake on Wikipedia

Here [[6]] there is a mistake linking the song "Love To Love You Baby" the album version to the single version. The album version and the single version of the song are two completely different versions. The album version of the song was longer and slower. The album version was never released as a single. The original 1975 single version was not released on the Donna Summer 1993 compilation album probably because of copyright reasons - several of her singles were re-recorded for that 1993 compilation album that included "Love To Love You Baby". The original 1975 single version was only just recently included on Donna Summer's latest compilation album, many decades after it was first released in 1975. In any case, the album track version of "Love to Love You Baby" is completely different to the single version and the two should not be confused. That link on Wikipedia is wrong. And the same applies to other songs by other groups and artists. Dickie birdie (talk) 12:45, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Dickie birdie telling me isn't very useful, posting on the talk-page of the related song is a much better idea. You can be WP:BOLD and fix any errors you believe you have found. Or discuss them on the relevant talk pages. Unless something is glaringly obvious, and easily confirmed by anyone like "The sun comes up in the east", it should be reliably sourced. 220 of Borg 13:01, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
But isn't information gleaned from listening to songs that cannot be obtained from written text "original research"? Madonna's 1986 single version of "True Blue" was not included on the album of the same name. The album version of "True Blue" is slower and longer. The 1986 single version of Madonna's "True Blue" has never been included on any of her compilation albums or Video/DVD compilations either. It was one of the earliest singles to be released on both vinyl and CD and it is worth a small fortune for that reason alone. An early example of a single release that was not the same version on album was "Ripple" by the Grateful Dead. It was only recently released on CD as a bonus track on the "American Beauty" album, where at last, the single version and the album version of the song became available, together. Today's generation of Wikipedia editors cannot be expected to be aware of such information. Such information may have been given in music magazines of the relevant periods. But in which language, in which country. It's important to have this information, because single releases are considered "primary and definitive versions" of the songs. Dickie birdie (talk) 16:38, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
@Dickie birdie: Technically yes, it is OR. It's a problem isn't it? You may be surprised though how many newspapers and magazines, for example, are available as online scans. With artists such as Donna Sumner and Madonna I would have though that every facet of their music would have been discussed in print and can thus be sourced.
You might also consider whether what you want to add as content is notable and encyclopaedic.
As for how far WP:OR can be 'pushed,' I don't know. Try WP:Original research noticeboard probably the WP:OR talk page actually, for advice, or the WP:Village pump (policy). I am not an expert on this area.
• PS. When an editor places a query on your talk-page, it is probably easier to answer it there, rather than their talk-page. You can use {{ping}} to get their attention. Regards, 220 of Borg 01:31, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, 200 of Borg. I'm glad you visited me so I want to ask you something. I'm currently creating new pages for Grimm and Gotham episodes and I would be happy if you and other people help me add information or something like that to make my pages work as I'm the only one editing them. I'm planning on creating more pages in the days to come, so please send me a message back with your answer. Thank you. Universe1609 (talk) 12:32, 26 March 2016 (PTD)

@220 of Borg: Well, if you don't have knowledge, maybe you could find someone to help me in the pages. Or if not, they can contact someone else so they can help me. Please, do this favor and see if others would like to do this as I'm too shy to ask. Thanks for the advise!Universe1609 of Universe1609 01:22, 26 March 2016 (PTD)

Sorry for the late reply and I know you posted on my talk page back in 2013. I have recently learned to use the edit summaries and they are rather helpful. IceBrotherhood 17:28, 30 April 2016 (UTC) By the way is Borg a reference to Star Trek? If you click on IceBrotherhood you'll be sent to my talk page.

IceBrotherhood, yes Star Trek. The '220' is what I was often called when I was IP editing from 2009 to 2011. Wikipedia is a 'collective', so it seemed appropriate, though thought of rather quickly. I was trying for "account created" [7] at 11:11 on November (11th month) in 2011, I was 12 minutes late. :-/ 220 of Borg 17:55, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

Do not create pages that attack, threaten, or disparage their subject. Attack pages and files are not tolerated by Wikipedia, and users who create or add such material may be blocked from editing. WWGB (talk) 09:48, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

@WWGB: Huh? What page? 220 of Borg 10:40, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
Seems strange! I nominated the attack page Selim Mehajer for deletion. Seems that you were wrongly tagged as the offending editor. Looks like an admin has fixed it. Regards, WWGB (talk) 10:49, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
Indeed. I thought you may have had 'finger trouble' on a tablet. I did create 2 redirects, Selim Mehajer (mis-spelled) and Salim Mehajer when I moved the 'Selim' page. However, I am not credited with creating 'Selim Mehajer', though the edit history of 'Salim' does say I created it, and then moved it. I presume someone took the 'Selim' re-direct, made it an attack page and that has now been 'expunged'? (Yep, it seems so: deletion log)
Not the first time I have been credited with 'creating' a page, when all I did was create a re-direct that another editor has then expanded. First 'negative' blaming though.
• Mind you, about all you hear about the subject person is not entirely positive is all I can say! 220 of Borg 11:42, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

Hey, this article is significantly different than the version deleted at AFD. It should be sent to another AFD. Something tastes of paid advocacy, though, so I'd like to see it gone. I just can't do it under CSD. Sorry. Pilots USS Voyager out of Borg space'--v/r - TP 23:17, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Aloks895 I will not approve because it was WP:Unsourced and was written in an extremely un-encyclopaedic manner, as per the example I gave. Mangalayatan University is an encyclopaedia page, not an advertisement. What do you mean by 'our' content? 220 of Borg 08:10, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Srabonti Narmin Ali

Hello. Since Srabonti Narmin Ali is the older article, shouldn't Srabonti Narmeen Ali be redirected there? And shouldn't the AFD at Srabonti Narmin Ali be allowed to run its course? I know, WP:AGF, but this looks a lot like an attempted end-run around the AFD. Thanks, OnionRing (talk) 15:29, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

I also notice that the AFD on Srabonti Narmin Ali was proposed by the article's creator. Then an hour and a half later, same editor recreated it at the new spelling. OnionRing (talk) 15:29, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
(edit conflict) :OnionRing I presumed that the original article name was mis-spelled, hence the newby editor then created another page under the 'correct' name? Note that both pages, and the Afd were created by the same editor. (As I now see you do know!) - 220 of Borg 15:36, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
But it's not really a G7, since the author simply wants to move a BLP-prodded article. I suggest we A10 the new one, ask creator to withdraw the AFD, then move the original to the new spelling. OnionRing (talk) 15:38, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Hey You

There are tons and tons of rebooted and remixed pop songs that are not cited in any books and in any pop magazines and the only way of knowing this information is by having the relevant tracks in possession. How old are you ??? Dickie birdie (talk) 14:04, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

One example - "Love to Love You" by Donna Summer. The original single release from 1975 was completely different to the album track that is slower and twice the length without the orgasmic moaning. When Donna Summer released her Greatest Hits compilation during the 1990s most of the tracks were re-recordings because of (at that time) violation of copyright. Stll the 1975 original single version of "Love To Love You Baby" was not available on CD or MP3. That compilation album was only fit for the incinerator. It was only recently, a few years ago, that the original 1975 version of "Love To Love You Baby" was converted to and released on CD. You cannot find this information out from any published source. You can only know about it by listening first-hand to the tracks. And there are dozens and dozens of similar examples to which there are absolutely no published citations. You really are naïve to presume that such published citations exist. Dickie birdie (talk) 14:11, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
Please acquaint yourself with information first before discussing. Dickie birdie (talk) 14:12, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
Hey you Dickie birdie, what is this about? A link to the article/edit in question would be useful The last time we had any 'conversation' was AFAIK five months ago, back in January. 220 of Borg 14:24, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Ritesh Chandra Sahu you mainly need to work on you English and English grammar. There was far more wrong than just your signature.
  • Above you say: "...so that I can neglect my mistakes", (See wikt:neglect)
  • I am quite sure that you meant to say "...so that I can correct my mistakes".
  • Please do not create any more unreferenced pages like Nokia Talkman 320F (right now, the external link, the only source, is not working)
Don't ever add or write text like:
"Due to its ancient discoveries and unavailability, nothing more can be said about this phone."
This sentence is nearly incomprehensible, and un-encyclopaedic. It also amounts to personal commentary which is not permitted.
- 220 of Borg 15:42, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi, one of your drafts that you haven't edited in a while may be mainspaceable, he seems to meet the notability guidelines and the references are fine. There is currently no article on this person in the mainspace so it'd be benifical to move it. I'd like your opinion. Anarchyte (work | talk) 10:11, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Bondi beast

The article Bondi beast has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

'Buy ink on yane', I didn't notice that. :-/ It is a bit odd for a 'new' editor to suddenly create so many pages, so quickly, with so many embedded external links, in my experience. Their use of the talk pages as sandboxes then moving them (rinse, repeat) is novel in my experience too. Seems the pages haven't been deleted before though, which would be a red flag to me.
Interesting, see https://buyinkonyane.wordpress.com/, nothing to do with the BLP subjects though, as far as I can see on a quick glance. --220 of Borg 14:41, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
Just an odd coincidence, see http://www.up.ac.za/en/communication-marketing/article/262446/photography-photo-library :-) Cotton2 (talk) 15:04, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
(i)nkonyane might be the "Smith' of South Africa? "buyisiwe.nkonyane" isnt far "buyisiwe.nkonyane" from "buyi.nkonyane" though. Or am missing something? Are we getting cloe to WP:outing here? 0:-/ 220 of Borg 15:22, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Juanvb pages

Hi Borg, sorry for the late reply! thanks for writing and thanks for supporting Wikipedia, I love all you guys who keep pushing, because Wikipedia is our best source of info! I tried to write the article as good as possible, reading and following the guidelines and adding references for everything. Please, I would appreciate if you could help me improve them instead of deleting them. Would that be possible? There's more people working on this articles so that's why we would like at least to save all these work we've done til now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperloop_Makers_UPV

thanks in advance and kind regards, Juanvb (talk) 21:28, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi Borg, just fixed what you told me, trying to learn ASAP :D Fixed references in Hyperloop UPV page and deleted peacocking style in Makers UPV description of HCube. I don't really understand what is the problem with wiki links, could you explain it with more detail please?? thank you very much for your help! Juanvb (talk) 11:11, 18 August 2016 (UTC)

Juanvb 'Wiki links' is not a problem, but 'neater' linking. You can link to my userpage like this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/user:220_of_Borg (like your link to Hyperloop Makers UPV above) or:
• [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/user:220 of Borg], looking like: [8] or:
• [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/user:220_of_Borg User:220 of Borg] (WP:Piping), looking like: User:220 of Borg or:
• [[User:220 of Borg]], looking like User:220 of Borg, which is the easiest (and usual) way to link to a WP page.

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Terrorism in Europe. Since you had some involvement with the Terrorism in Europe redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Pppery (talk) 20:21, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 25

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited City of Auburn, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dole. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

331dot I presume this is an automated message via Twinkle? Perhaps my page moved caused it to think I was the page creator?220 of Borg 11:54, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Yes, that's what happened. I think I tagged it at the same time or shortly after you had moved the page. My apologies 331dot (talk) 11:59, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Meh! No worries! Not the first time it's happened like that to me IIRC. ;-) 220 of Borg 12:03, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your message.
I must admit I don't remember doing that edit - it was over 5 years ago!

The Royal Australian Mint FAQ actually says -

Who is on the $2 coin?

The image is a representation of an Aboriginal tribal elder, based on the original artwork of Ainslie Roberts and designed by Horst Hahne. It is not intended to depict any person in particular.

However, check out "The story of One Pound Jimmy" on this website operated by Ainslie Roberts' son, where he confirms that the image on the $2 coin is based on Roberts' drawing of Gwoya Jungarai.

Doris Blackburn

You had given Doris Blackburn another 45 years of life with the BLP refimprove tag. Just thought I'd let you know! MelbourneStartalk 06:58, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

Self trouted

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.
@MelbourneStar: Trout slap, Facepalm Facepalm, errr, ummm, aaah, whoops? . 21 months for that to be spotted, good eyes. I hope nobody has copied the page too closely! 220 of Borg 09:38, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
Oh it's alright! you were only 45 years off — not a full half-century ;) —MelbourneStartalk 09:42, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
