July 2021[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:05, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

My clients pay me to represent them for publicity that includes a possible placement in Wikipedia if they are credible enough. I understand the reason that I was blocked was for my username and I changed it. I do not and I will not use my account for any advertising and promotion. I will continue to only add credible people to Wikipedia

Decline reason:

No thanks. See WP:COI, WP:PAID, and WP:PROMO. We aren't interested in you writing about your clients for publicity. Yamla (talk) 17:13, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My clients are credible, have coverage and have reliable sources for proof that they belong in Wikipedia. Although my clients pay me for services, this would not fall under paid promotion. Writing about their selves is highly discouraged on Wikipedia. Thus, my clients use me as a vehicle to add their articles to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. An encyclopedia is a work that contains information on all branches of knowledge or treats comprehensively a particular branch of knowledge usually in articles arranged alphabetically often by subject. I believe that my clients meet the very definition of having an article in an encyclopedia based on their contributions to society. If for some some reason, my reasons are not good enough, can someone explain as to why and what the next step would be instead of "we aren't interested in you writing about your clients."

Decline reason:

This is the very definition of paid promotion. Wikipedia is not here to publicize your clients. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 18:59, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have been accused of "paid promotion" when I don't offer promotion. I am a publicist. I work for a public-relations firm. I offer publicity. I get paid (which I took all of the correct steps to disclose) by my clients for services including creating and editing their Wikipedia pages. Wikipedia recognizes clients as stated in WP:PAID "Client: the person or organization on whose behalf the edits are made; the client is often the subject of the article." I only create and edit articles for clients who are have the required notability. It states "If you have been hired by a public-relations firm to edit Wikipedia, you must disclose both the firm and the firm's client." I did all of that. Can someone explain to me where to go from here so I that I can continue to create and edit?

Decline reason:

Again, this is the very definition of paid promotion. Wikipedia is not here to promote your clients. You may not use Wikipedia to write about your clients. I suggest you tell them that the service you are selling is actually not allowed on Wikipedia. There are many other websites out there, but this project is a neutrally written encyclopedia and we don't want our articles written by someone who has such a strong conflict of interest.
