Edit summary[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! July 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Harrison County, West Virginia, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Stone House West VA[edit]

Hey there

Saw your edits on Stonehouse WV. VERY similiar to what happened to Gad WV.The only reason I reverted what you posted was that you did not provide a source or reference. Do you have one, I would be delighted to help you with any formatting help if required..Coal town guy (talk) 19:52, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

See "talk" Talk:Stone House, West Virginia 2601:142:100:2C:D1A2:2639:81EF:9AC5 (talk) 20:44, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have again reverted your edit to Grafton, West Virginia. A paragraph of your edit was unsourced, and the parts that were sourced used "Brinkman (1939-42), Op. cit., pg 162-163." Could you explain what this means? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:55, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

January 2018[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Tygart Dam. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:00, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, as you did at Talk:Stone House, West Virginia, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:04, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, you can take a Xanax & climb down from off your high horse right now. No one is attacking anyone. You are in no position of higher authority or status as policewoman than anyone else. You are just another ordinary editor, like me & everyone else. You should stop the demands and stop the threats.
Now, to your (rudely put) request: I have added more detail to the Brinkman reference on the Grafton, West Virginia article while restoring my previous, legitimate edits. No one should object to them. As to your question "Could you explain what this means?", I will be patient with you. Op. cit., as the linked article indicates, means that the "work cited" is the one under the author indicated, already cited. This is conventional scholarly practice as well as being commonly used in Wikipedia. Again, no one should object. 2601:142:100:2C:D1A2:2639:81EF:9AC5 (talk) 15:33, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
IP, you need to calm down, now. The beginning of the above is another personal attack, and you're even tripping the filter log. Cool it. Home Lander (talk) 15:36, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am calm, but I am still waiting for a rational, thoughtful response directed at this (unnecessary) "dispute", as opposed to remarks intended to merely escalate emotions. Do you have something helpful to contribute? 2601:142:100:2C:D1A2:2639:81EF:9AC5 (talk)

I ask you again, stop making threats which misrepresent my edits. You have no authority to block & it is becoming harassment. If you have a problem with the sources (which are there), say so rather than implying that they don't exist. I have restored the line on the five inundated villages. Each of these has its own Wikipedia article which includes a reliable source indicating that they were lost to the lake. There is no need, therefore, to add a citation for each one which is unsightly & ridiculous looking at best. (If you want a numbered citation after each, do it yourself. As I recall, you have a thing about this don't you?) 2601:142:100:2C:D1A2:2639:81EF:9AC5 (talk) 13:31, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

February 2018[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Abilene, Texas, you may be blocked from editing. John from Idegon (talk) 01:13, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editing? Huh? I placed a standard heading which is a distinct, albeit minor, improvement. Ya need to find a different tree to bark up, dahg! ;-) 2601:142:100:2C:D1A2:2639:81EF:9AC5 (talk) 14:29, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Abilene, Texas. Again, this is an encyclopedia. There are style guides. I'm not threatening you, I'm informing you of the possible consequences of your style of editing. If you wish to deviate from the standard heading, start a discussion on the article's talk page. It isn't your role to unilaterally decide to change a style. Per WP:USCITY, it should be "Notable people". John from Idegon (talk) 15:40, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
