I’m editing from mobile so can’t create a section well (thanks WMF for making this hard to do), but I saw your post regarding Bbb23 and wanted to say thanks for speaking out as an anonymous user. I’d shied away from commenting on two of the desysops from arbcom this year and the warning re: checkuser because I felt nobody would take me seriously, but you had the guts to stand up and I appreciate that. As someone who considered coming back to the project during the current times, I thank you for expressing the reasons I’m not coming back re: arbcom abuse. I'm glad you found the comment useful. It's perfectly ok to speak up at such things. The secret heart of Wikipedia is WP:CLUE, which means if you say sensible things, you will have influence no matter who you are. That’s certainly the heart I based my contribution on when I used my old account, but I left when it became clear some users were against that. There’s some users that clearly are either hat collectors or simply want to be seen as better than everyone else, and unfortunately the current arbcom is comprised of them. Hopefully they realize they’re losing who would’ve been a good COVID editor because they turned me off the idea of coming back with their gross mishandling of users. Certainly if you find editing to be stressful or frustrating, it's better to walk away until you regain your equanimity, which might be never. Just join AGFWWRUP and stay logged out forever, it's the most sensible way to edit. Go away as long as you want to, and then come back whenever you feel like and no one will bother you in between. For the record, I also found the analysis perfectly fine, I may not agree on every point, but I have no idea why it was called trolling other than the usual irrational bias/prejudice against unregistered users. Certainly you could argue that the benefit in terms of building an encyclopedia is not proportionate to the amount of time editors spent on that thread, but that's true of everyone who posted there and another matter entirely.
