Information icon Hello, I'm Parksfan1955. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the main body of Iqbal Survé. Generally, any relevant external links should be listed in an "External links" section at the end of the article and meet the external links guidelines. Links within the body of an article should be internal Wikilinks. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, 41.10.107.18. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Iqbal Survé, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Hello
I do not have a conflict of interest. I watched an interview with the person where the Wikipedia page was mentioned and thought to be incomplete/inconclusive hence I decided to take initiative and research relevant topics. Some of the information and links you have removed are from reputable sources and relevant which i believe belong on this page. 41.10.107.18 (talk) 01:15, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I saw you wrote that on another talk page, but your edits make me question that. You can propose edits on the article talk page. Drmies (talk) 01:16, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why don't you make the edits if you think they don't sound neutral instead of just removing paragraphs? In my view they are neutral. 41.10.107.18 (talk) 01:17, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That does not surprise me. Drmies (talk) 01:21, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please revert your edits because I put a lot of work into this research and you removed a whole bunch of relevant information from reputable sources. This is abusive. 41.10.107.18 (talk) 01:30, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore some of your removals indicate that you have no knowledge of South Africa, South African institutions, individuals and publications, hence you ought to refrain from making such edits. 41.10.107.18 (talk) 01:34, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Long video of interview with Iqbal Surve[edit]

You said above that you watched an interview. I assume it was this one - EPISODE 484| Dr Survé on Nelson Mandela, Mainstream Media, Banks, Cyril Ramaphosa, BRICS , Money, which you've used as a reference in the article. If so, it's 1 hour 44 minutes long and most people aren't going to watch it all, so could you please provide the time in the video where Surve mentions his relationship with Mandela>? You also mentioned above that the interview mentions Surve's views on his Wikipedia article. Please could you provide that timestamp as well? Zaian (talk) 06:27, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Zaian, I appreciate your effort, but the question for me is what this interview is supposed to verify. It can't be claims that need secondary sourcing. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 14:28, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Drmies Oh I agree, a quote in a (very lengthy) video is not a proper secondary source. Thanks for stepping in. It's clear that Surve takes an interest in the Wikipedia article about him, and I am interested to know what he said publicly about it, but not it if means I have to watch the whole video to find out.
