Samir Sabry

[edit]

Feel free to create a new article at Samir Sabry (actor), but do not over-write an existing topic. GiantSnowman 17:27, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for the advice but your Samir Sabry is an impersonator. Online, you will see that most links related to the Samir Sabry (actor) lead the young footballer's wikipage. Am no expert but this is not great. Please help

cheers

No, there definitely is a footballer called Samir Sabry, see this and this. GiantSnowman 17:41, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

quite a new one then I guess, and definitely using the 'brandname' Samir Sabry (that belonging to the famous actor). In Arabic, his name should be Samir Abdou not Samir Sabry, as Sabry would be his father's name not his family name. I do not believe this is legal, but am no expert. Problem is, all current cinema pages - related to actors and cinema, especially on Wikipeadia, lead to the footballer not the true famous celeb actor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_College,_Alexandria http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Egyptians#Actors ............ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=Samir+Sabry+%28actor%29&go=Go+%28try+title%29

All pages are related to Samir Sabry -- the famous actor. Only one belongs to Samir Sabry (Should be Samir Abdou) the footballer. All pages, when clicked lead to the footballer when they should be leading to Samir Sabry (the real one-- actor, not Samir Abdou- footballer)

Firstly, we use the WP:COMMONNAME to name people on Wikipedia - the footballer is known as 'Samir Sabry', regardless of what his father's name is. Secondly, you are aware that there can be multiple articles on the same named people, right? Also most of the incoming links refer to the footballer as well. GiantSnowman 18:07, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

yes they wrongly refer to the footballer when they should be refering to the movie star. I am aware that several people can have the same name, some with notable history and others without. Out of practical reasons, can we change this to the Real Samir Sabry and make a page called Samir Sabry (footballer) for the young Sabry? Happy to cooperate. thanks

No, there is no 'real' or 'brand' or whatever. There are two people with the same name. If you attempt to over-write the footballer article again then you will be blocked from editing. GiantSnowman 18:30, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

no sir, there is a well-known samir sabry... and the new footballer. this is creating a bit of a mess online and it would be very much appreciated if you could cooperate in fixing this. I am doing my best here and am not a wiki expert at all. I hope we can combine our skills to cooperate on this. Thank you As I said, I am not an expert, so maybe you can help by creating a wiki page called samir sabry (actor) and then fix all the links to redirect to the actor as they are currently Wrongly directing internet uses to the Footballer. Many thanks and happy holidays A propos brandname, the 'real' one is a bradname amongst oriental societies like George Clooney etc, while the footballer is not your David Beckham. He's more of a John Doe. Hope this clarifies.

Request reason:

no need to block , let's work together on fixing this and create a samir sabry footballer page. Or help me do a samir sabry (actor) page and then you direct all the links that are wrongfully leading to the footballer back to the actor. A hassle but I am sure we can do it

Decline reason:

Battleground mentality evinced below does not augur for harmonious relations with other editors if unblocked early. — Daniel Case (talk) 19:53, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Note to the reviewing admin - this editor has now used 3 IPs to attempt to over-write the article. GiantSnowman 18:53, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Note to reviewing admin: The previous is not true. Please check online. GiantSnowman|Snowman] is insisting on posting a misleading article about a non notable footballer. Furthermore, GiantSnowman|Snowman] has made sure that all the links leading to the real Samir Sabry (the actor) lead to his page re the footballer. They are not the same person, and the footballer is not a notable person. As can be seen from our conversation above, I have done my best to cooperate and explain with no success. It is very disappointing not only that such behaviour is encouraged, but that also cooperation is met with abrupt disagreement. I am a great admirer of the wikipeadia project and this is a shame.

You are not helping yourself by lying. Firstly, the different IPs you have used - 41.235.175.102 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), 41.235.152.66 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and 41.235.148.251 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), per the article history. Secondly, the footballer is notable, and even arguably more notable than the actor - the footballer won the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, which is the top football competition in Africa. Thirdly, you have not co-operated - you continued to over-write the article even after I explained to you not to. GiantSnowman 19:06, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

NOTE TO ADMIN: Please note aggressive behaviour from GiantSnowman|Snowman]]. Please remove the current page. It is of a NOT NOTABLE person created by his/her friend. Best of luck, and I do regret trying to help. Dear Snowman, your insults and facon de langue are not constructive. I do wish you the best of luck. Now please remove this nonsensical page.

If you believe the article about the footballer is non-notable then I suggest you take it to a deletion discussion after you block has expired. Please also do not tamper with other editor's talk page posts. GiantSnowman 19:20, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
