Hi 4u1e, just wanted to discuss the Canadian/French-Canadian thing. I think, in general, on Wikipedia French-Canadians are referred to as simply "Canadian" in the intro, with their ancestry expanded later on if neccessary. See, for example - Celine Dion, Hubert Reeves, Jack Kerouac, etc. I think Jacques' article should follow the rule; it was only changed to "French-Canadian" in December, anyway, presumably by a French-Canadian editor. Your GA nomination of Saruman

[edit]

The article Saruman you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Saruman for things which need to be addressed. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:42, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for the late delivery of this month's newsletter; the automated delivery system appears not to be working at present.--Midgrid(talk) 20:12, 16 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Main page appearance

[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on May 2, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/May 2, 2011. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Great news this. I suppose more than four years after its promotion you would almost have given up hope it would make the main page? It will be good to see it on there. Apterygial talk 22:37, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Let me know if you need a hand with it. Apterygial talk 07:09, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If I didn't have time I wouldn't have offered. :) I should be able to get there tomorrow (which is hopefully not too late). Apterygial talk 04:15, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had a run-through, and made a few very minor changes. The prose seems quite solid (or is at least out of my abilities to improve) so it mostly consisted of punctuation and linking points, and some clarity fixes. I did, however, leave some points I picked up on on the talk page. I'm watching the article, and I'll try to keep an eye on it while it's on the main page, but the topic is slightly out of my field of expertise (I'm better with pre-WW2), so anything which isn't obvious vandalism I'll leave. 24.3k hits. Very respectable. Apterygial talk 07:08, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
