Apologies if explanation for removal was added to the wrong place or not clear. Removed text was in line with professional legal advice - specifically Article 8 of the Human Rights Act / European Convention on Human Rights and the Rehabilitation of Offenders act 1974. Please remove all reference to the spent conviction. Publishing of the same was highly problematic under law as is reference to it here. 5.64.200.38 (talk) 21:29, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon Your recent edits could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 21:33, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be an unnecessarily complex way of resolving a simple matter. Please act in the best interest of all parties and revert back to my original edits. Best regards 5.64.200.38 (talk) 21:42, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would add that Wikipedia is governed by Florida law, not UK or European law. There may be a legitimate debate about whether we should refrain from mentioning spent convictions, but this could be a big step, needs discussion. I would add that a number of British newspapers have mentioned his conviction without facing legal action. PatGallacher (talk) 12:15, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
