Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

[edit]

Why is so difficult to understand? The drivers and teams are due to be the same as the pre-season entry list with the only exception being Romain Grosjean... it means Hamilton will drive for Mercedes and Russell for Williams, unless new announcements are made for the next replacements whether necessary. If Hamilton will miss the next race and Russell will replace him I will re-write it in The drivers and teams were the same as the pre-season entry list with three exceptions being Grosjean Hamilton and Russell who were replaced by Fittipaldi Russell and Aitken respectively.--Island92 (talk) 02:05, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I could ask you the same question. Drivers are objectively not due to be the same as the season entry list since no announcement has been made on whether or not drivers will return to their original seats, and this remains in doubt (see last paragraph of the Mercedes announcement). You can't say the list will revert to the season list if official sources say that they might not happen, because not only is that an assumption but it is also factually incorrect with the information we currently have.
5225C (talkcontributions) 02:12, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but we have the information Fittipaldi replaced Grosjean for one race and yesterday we knew even for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Instead nobody has been able to prove so far Russell will race in place of Hamilton also for the next race for sure, unless a news is released about this replacement. Remember Hamilton is the official driver, so is implied he will drive next Sunday (pre-season entry list), except for a Mercedes announcement.--Island92 (talk) 02:20, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I just linked you to a Mercedes announcement that says they have not yet decided on their Abu Dhabi entry. How does that not cast Hamilton's entry into doubt?
5225C (talkcontributions) 02:28, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree with 5225C here. Nothing at this point is planned between Hamilton, Aitken, Russell, and Fittipaldi. Can you wait at least a couple days before inputting information? The article's still a draft. Admanny (talk) 02:33, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can wait. Nothing is planned but you have to remember we have a pre-season entry list which was filled by FIA at the beginnig of the season that reports Hamilton in force for Mercedes and Russell for Williams at every Grand Prix, unless announcement about their replacements are made, such as these occurences. This is worth as the Background of each race. As soon as Mercedes decide their Abu Dhabi Grand Prix entry list we will change the phrose in accordance to what they have decided to do.--Island92 (talk) 02:42, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But the prose as I have it now doesn't say the season every list won't be used, it just doesn't say it will be used. That's the distinction I'm trying to make, and it is, objectively, the state of the entry list based on the sources we have available.
5225C (talkcontributions) 02:45, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The source available we at the moment have are clear, but we need to look into:
  • Russell replaced Hamilton. Will Russell replace him again? We don't know so far, so the pre-season entry list says Hamilton will drive at Abu Dhabi for Mercedes, unless Totò Wolff says Russell will replace him. (No announcement yet).
  • Fittipaldi replaced Grosjean. The phrose here is ok because we already know Fittipaldi will race in place of Grosjean also at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. News released yesterday by Grosjean (pre-seasonentry list doesn't count here).
  • Aitken replaced Russell. Will Aitken replace him again? We don't know so far, so the pre-season entry list says Russell will drive at Abu Dhabi for Williams, unless Toto Wolff says Russell will replace Hamilton in Mercedes, forcing Williams to call again Aitken. (No announcement yet).
According to these thing the best phrose at the moment suits most as the one being written for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix. I don't insist anymore. Thank you and enjoy editing.--Island92 (talk) 03:00, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Last event

[edit]

Hello. Regarding this revert, sorry I guess I was not aware of McLaren's situation.

You mentioned "see WikiProject update list" and I assume you mean Wikipedia:WikiProject Formula One/Updates#At the end of a season. It says, concerning hard coding last event, "not done at the end of the 2020 season but now doesn't need to be done". What the heck does that supposed to mean? Are none of the cars' last event to be hard coded now? --DB1729 (talk) 15:46, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I assumed you were following the list. Not sure who added that note, but I'm 99.9% sure that's what it means because the 2020 cars have to be re-used in 2021 and we'll likely as not re-use the articles. It's ultimately not that big of a deal because we'll have the whole off season to sort it out.

I see. I don't follow the project (or F1 news in general) as closely as the regular F! editors do. Thanks for the explanation. --DB1729 (talk) 15:57, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
All good, thanks for the follow up.

Cite Unseen update

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for using Cite Unseen. The script recently received a significant update, detailed below.

  • You can now toggle which icons you do or don't want to see. See the configuration section for details. All icons are enabled by default except for the new Green checkmark generally reliable icon (described below).
  • New categorizations/icons:
    • Megaphone Advocacy: Organizations that are engaged in advocacy (anything from political to civil rights to lobbying). Note that an advocacy group can be reliable; this indicator simply serves to note when a source's primary purpose is to advocate for certain positions or policies, which is important to keep in mind when consuming a source.
    • Hand writing Editable: Sites that are editable by the public, such as wikis (Wikipedia, Fandom) or some databases (IMDb, Discogs).
    • Red journal with an X Predatory journals: These sites charge publication fees to authors without checking articles for quality and legitimacy.
    • Perennial source categories: Cite Unseen will mark sources as Green checkmark generally reliable, Exlamation mark in orange triangle marginally reliable, No symbol generally unreliable, Stop hand deprecated, and Black X blacklisted. This is based on Wikipedia's perennial sources list, which reflects community consensus on frequently discussed sources. Sources that have multiple categorizations are marked as Blue question mark varied reliability. Note that Green checkmark generally reliable icons are disabled by default to reduce clutter, but you can enable them through your custom config. A special thanks to Newslinger, whose new Sourceror API provides the perennial sources list in a clean, structured format.
  • With the addition of the new categorizations, the biased source icon has been removed. This category was very broad, and repetitive to the new advocacy and perennial sources categorizations that are more informative.

If you have any feedback, requested features, or domains to add/remove, don't hesitate to bring it up on the script's talk page. Thank you! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 23:24, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
