April Fools is coming

Just a heads up. The edits to Mark Hamill were joke edits for April Fool's Day. Particularly noticeable because the date of death given is April 1st (even though no part of the U.S. has reached April 1st yet). I expect to see a lot of these on bio pages over the next 36 hours or so. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 01:06, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I did wonder that :) --5 albert square (talk) 01:11, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Neighbours character infobox

Hi 5 and other Neighbours editors who I know are watching this page! Although the recent TDF closed as Keep, the closing admin did say we should consider merging. As another editor created {{infobox soap character 2}} and started updating the EastEnders pages, I've continued and am also doing the Neighbours ones. Just thought I'd let you (all) know. anemoneprojectors talk

Thanks! Oh and thanks also for the info about the parameters :) --5 albert square (talk) 21:44, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I did them all, but now there's a debate about the family members in the infobox. See template talk:Infobox soap character 2. anemoneprojectors talk 23:17, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi. What do you think about changing List of Neighbours characters to List of past Neighbours characters? We have Current cast of Neighbours for the current characters (obviously), so they don't need to be listed on that page. I was planning to go through the character profiles on Perfectblend and add any characters to the list that are missing. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 19:25, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
That would be ok --5 albert square (talk) 19:37, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Done! Btw, you might have noticed I had to undo/rollback an editors edits to some of the character pages. They were changing the birth years of some characters (there is no way Lyn, Susan and Karl are 60!) and changing Declan and Oliver's last names to Robinson, which was a bit weird. I think Declan and Olvier will always be Napier and Barnes, no matter who their mother marries. Unlike Ben, they aren't bothered about changing their last name. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 20:03, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Forgot to say I was going to replace the 'durations' column in the present characters section with a 'previous actor (s)' one. I know I mentioned it a while back, but I've finally got round to it. Now what other ideas can I steal from EastEnders? Lol. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:45, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Blimey, I've just finished sorting through Stuart Parker's article. I've managed to get it down to 11,106 bytes from 46,243. That was a lot of storylines to get through, plus look at how many tags the article had on it. [2]
lol! --5 albert square (talk) 00:47, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I'll just put this here. Have a look where Rachel Kinski went. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 14:53, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Wow, looks good. Nice to see that Caitlin Stasey has got some work --5 albert square (talk) 17:02, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I thought that too. I don't know when the film is released, but I'm interested to see it. Btw, List of Neighbours characters (2009) is live! - JuneGloom07 Talk? 17:19, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

(undent)I hope I get the chance to see it. I don't normally go for war films but that one looks good --5 albert square (talk) 17:34, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

EastEnders doesn't have a recurring characters list does it? I was wondering if it would be a good idea to merge Recurring characters of Neighbours into List of past Neighbours characters? I think it would be better to have all past characters in one place, that way we only have to worry about two lists (Past and Current). - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:29, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Off the top of my head I don't know if EastEnders has a recurring cast list or not. I don't know if I'd be in favour of the above two being merged. It might be kind of confusing for people that don't regularly watch Neighbours or don't watch at all to know who's recurring and who's left --5 albert square (talk) 23:35, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
EastEnders just has List of EastEnders characters#Recurring characters. If they no longer recur they're just treated as past characters. anemoneprojectors talk 23:40, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
We have a recurring characters section on the current cast list too. At the moment, Recurring characters of Neighbours has a mixture of past and current characters and some of them appear on more then one list. So, our characters are either past, current or recurring, but some of them are also past and recurring or current and recurring. That's confusing to me, I don't know about anyone else. I think it would be better if the past recurring characters were added to the past characters list like EE. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:21, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Simon Cowell protection

I am afraid, 5 albert square, the thing is Simon C. is such a prominent person, he just attracts vandalism, and it seems to be human nature to get involved in this, sigh!. Perhaps I should have made it permanent. Ah well, at least it will stop them for the next month. Well done, you were right. Dieter Simon (talk) 00:09, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Well, we'll just have to blame Mr Cowell for being so outspoken, he's nobody but himself to blame lol! :p
I've got the page permanently on my watchlist because of the vandalism it attracts so I'll keep an eye on it. I guess the editors will just have to find something else to do for a month :) --5 albert square (talk) 00:27, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, creating a bio about yourself is very strongly discouraged, it is generally thought that if you are important enough then a page will be created about you by someone else. Please read Wikipedia:Autobiography. However the page that you have created is considered for deletion because it does nothing but promote something and Wikipedia is not here for self promotion or advertising. You might also want to read WP:NOTSOAPBOX.

Help concerning my account on en.Wikipedia

Hi,
I am the user who edited Numb3rs form the IP address 77.28.5.246. I am administrator at Macedonian Wikipedia. My user name is Wikimk. On EN.Wikipedia it looks that some one has already opened an account using Wikimk as user name (here: [3]), so I cannot use it to edit. Since that person does not have any edits (the account was opened on 10 May 2007) I would like to ask you for an assistance in order for me to able to edit here using my current user name. Is it possible to delete that account? Or maybe there is other solution to this?! Thank you for the answer.
Regards, Wikimk —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.28.5.246 (talk) 21:35, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, welcome to English Wikipedia!
With regards to your username, I don't know if English Wikipedia would be able to delete the account. I wouldn't have thought that they could, but I'm not an admin so I can't guarantee that. I will ask some people that might know and post my response back here so please add my talk page to your watchlist if you haven't already :) --5 albert square (talk) 21:43, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
OK I've asked User:AnemoneProjectors who's one of the admins on English Wikipedia, he's going to look into this and find out. You'll either get a reply here or on Macedonian Wikipedia. Hope this helps :) --5 albert square (talk) 21:53, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I already got the reply. Kind regards, Wikimk --77.28.14.234 (talk) 22:02, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

The answer is at m:Help:Unified login if you need it for future reference. anemoneprojectors talk 22:06, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

By the way, I would recommend unifying your account if you haven't already done so. 5 albert square, I notice you haven't but have accounts on commons and wikinews. So it's a good idea :) anemoneprojectors talk 22:08, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Ah thanks Anemone, I honestly didn't have a clue where the answer would be and I didn't know that you could unify accounts before. Yeah I'm still kinda new to Wikimedia, for some reason pictures that I've uploaded to Wikipedia using it don't appear on Wikimedia for some reason, used Wikimedia Commons to upload screenshots for the new image of The Bill and get a better picture for Neighbours yet they don't seem to show on the account! Never mind :) I will unify it at some point soon --5 albert square (talk) 22:14, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
They probably got deleted because Commons doesn't allow copyrighted content :) anemoneprojectors talk 23:29, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
No? I thought it allowed screenshots as long as fair use rationale was applied? Never mind, The Bill's highly unlikely to change it's image again now it's being axed and the Neighbours one is stored on my pc, just in case Wikipedia should ever lose it for whatever reason! --5 albert square (talk) 23:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Nope Wikipedia allows copyrighted content under fair use but Commons is only for freely licenced images, videos and sound files. See WP:COMMONS. anemoneprojectors talk 00:57, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
Ah that would actually make sense lol :) --5 albert square (talk) 01:05, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
  • After creating your SUL, you can visit WP:CHU/SUL to usurp the en.Wiki Wikimk. Since it was never used, and you hold the claim to the global login, the bureaucrats will very likely swiftly grant you the name here. –xenotalk 01:07, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi guys. Now I have the Wikimk user name. Of course, with your help. So, thank you very much. Kind regards, --Wikimk (talk) 11:49, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi Wikimik, glad you managed to get that sorted out. If you need any further help then please don't hesitate to ask :) --5 albert square (talk) 19:26, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

can i ask why you removed the references of taxi driver ? if its because it seems i'm advertising shouldn't the other three references be removed —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.22.13 (talk) 15:07, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, it wasn't anything to do with advertising, the link that you tried to add is Youtube and Youtube links are not allowed on Wikipedia. Please read external links guideline for links that are allowed. Any questions please ask User: XLinkBot (the bot responsible for removing such links) or myself. Reverting my edits? Not vandalism

You've started reverting a number of my edits. And you've put a note on my talk page about vandalism. Let me explain. I've been looking at some categories for genus names for various plants. They commonly list a number of species by scientific, binomial name, i.e. [Genus Name] [species name]. The genus name is capitalized; the species name is not.

I've found that in some lists, some of these names are alphabetized by the Genus Name (seemingly logical, since it comes first). Others are alphabetized by species name (i.e., the second part), beginning with a lower case letter.

It seems that the second way is the usual practice. It makes sense. Typically, most or all of the entries in the list begin with the same Genus Name. Alphabetize it that way, and you get everything under one long letter of the alphabet.

In any case, it seems to me that it is good to do all of the entries in a list one way--whichever way that is.

That's what I've been doing. If it's wrong, I beg your pardon. But by definition, it's not vandalism since I'm doing it in good faith, looking to improve things. 140.147.236.194 (talk) 22:07, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza

Hi, I'll apologise if I got it wrong. I don't know what you're trying to do to the pages though because it's not changing the categories? That's why I reverted it, it looked like you were trying to add random information? Let me know if you need any help --5 albert square (talk) 22:15, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
I wasn't looking to change the categories; I was looking to change the order of the entries in the categories. Take a look at the page for Category:Astragalus (which I finished ordering). See how logically it all falls together. Now take a look at Category:Pinus (which I hope to do). See how the entries seem to be alphabetized by at least 3 (as far as I can make out) different systems, resulting in a hodge podge. Now compare versions for the one I'd just finished when you began reverting.
On the edit page, at a Category name, when you add that vertical line followed by a word, it alphabetized that entry BY THAT WORD on the Category list. And it matters whether it's upper or lower case.
I did the same thing a while ago for categories beginning "House of ..." On the category lists, half were alphabetized by the name of the Royal or Noble House. The other half were under a very long list at H, for "House." 140.147.236.194 (talk) 22:27, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
By the way, what I was doing WAS accomplishing what I hoped for.
Ah ok, in that case I apologise, I've misunderstood your edits. Give me one sec and I will remove my warnings from your page :) --5 albert square (talk) 22:30, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Reverting my changes and blames of vandalism

Hi, I just edited the page on Demi Moore. It said her birth name was Demi, which was in fact a shortened version of her name Demetria. When I changed it to Demetria and added a reference (which wasn't there in the first place as the sentence also says where she was born, NOT written by me, but still not referenced). I don't get what was wrong and I don't like being accused of vandalism. I was trying to update the encyclopedia, y'know...the point of Wikipedia?? Why was I accused of vandalism? Tiwi1890 (talk) 22:55, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

5asq, I hope you don't mind me butting in. Tiwi1890 if you take a look at the talk page for Demi, you'll see that this has already been dicussed. Plus, the IMdb reference you are using probably wouldn't be considered reliable. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:07, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi June, no I don't mind you butting in, you stalk my talk page anyways :)
Tiwi1890 if you look at Talk: Demi Moore you will see that the consensus is that the name should not be changed as there is not a reliable source stating that is her name. IMDB is not counted as a reliable source, for example Laurie Brett's date of birth on there is wrong. If you look at it, you will see that it is the exact same as Jane Beale, the character that she plays in EastEnders.
I'll apologise though if the template came across as sounding heavy handed.
If you have any questions about reliable sources then please don't hesitate to ask me or User: XLinkBot - the bot responsible for removing such links --5 albert square (talk) 23:31, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
I've just apologized to Tiwi1890, as my message sounds a little BITEy. It also appears I've forgotten how to type (dicussed, IMdb), I should probably go to bed. :) - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:35, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
You definitely need bed June. So do I, I'm working tomorrow :( --5 albert square (talk) 23:37, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

lol, "I call the big one Bitey" - sorry, you just made me think of that :) anemoneprojectors talk 00:11, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I remember that line! I feel really terrible now though, I think I've made that editor quit Wiki. I didn't mean for my reply to sound BITEy, it was late and I didn't think to check their history to see how new they were. I hope they come back. :( - JuneGloom07 Talk? 10:56, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

My User page...

...has been protected due to vandalism. I have no idea where they came from. I had just finished editing an article, checked my watchlist and saw that Neighbours and my User page had been vandalized by the same IP. I'm guessing they saw my name in the Neighbours history or something and then decided to come and play. Is there nothing good on TV tonight? Lol. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:28, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was reverting with Huggle when Neighbours flashed up right to the top of my list in bright red which isn't good! I looked and reverted the name-calling of Ms Bower right away. My user page is also protected permanently. I could request for it to be unprotected but at the moment I prefer it being protected --5 albert square (talk) 21:35, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't blame you for keeping your user page protected! I think I might have to get my talk page protected too. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:46, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
The Userpage Shield
Thank you, for reverting the vandalism on my talk page! - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:46, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome :). I gave them a final warning because of all the harassment that they've given other editors and I notice they've now been blocked for 2 weeks :) --5 albert square (talk) 21:49, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm just going to add this here. Have you seen that {{infobox soap character 2}} has been nominated for deletion? I'm going to respond a bit later when I've thought about what I want to say. Also, did you hear about Neighbours looking for an actress from England? I'd apply if I thought I had any acting talent, lol. Do you think we should wait until the actress has been cast and we know when she's going to appear before adding her to the cast list? I've already removed her once and Malcolm, who I haven't read about coming back. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 19:48, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Ha, I guess there's just no satisfying some people sometimes! As for Neighbours looking for a British actress, yes I did hear about that. Susan Bower gave an indication it was something she was considering when she was interviewed by Five, though she didn't actually say it word for word, it was the what I interpreted from what she said. Ha, maybe I could take that up as my job as I'm getting made redundant in June! Yes we should wait until the actress has been cast before mentioning anything --5 albert square (talk) 20:12, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Go for it! You could get all the news and spoilers for the show and pass them on to Wiki then, lol. I'm sorry to hear that you're being made redundant though. I might add a hidden note asking people not to add the new character until an actress has been cast. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 20:19, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Personally I would add the character and just put TBA for the actor. We've done it at EastEnders before when an uncast character has been announced. anemoneprojectors talk 21:07, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
We don't have an arrival/debut date for the character either though. So, there would only be the name of the character in the table. Hmm, not sure what to do now. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:21, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
I've reconsidered, it might actually be worth it now --5 albert square (talk) 21:48, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay. 5, do you want to remove the hidden notes and add Poppy to the table and I'll create her a section on the 2010 characters list? - JuneGloom07 Talk? 21:51, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
I've just found this article that says Poppy will make her debut in the UK in November, so we just need to work out when she'll appear in Australia and we can add her debut date to the table too. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 22:02, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Done I just put late 2010 as being the date until we get something more specific. By the way, do we have any update on how Caroline Lloyd is? I know she wasn't actually named in the incident that happened, but I managed to work out that it was likely to be her from the news reports saying the person slashing her wrists on set had been there over 10 years. When you look at that list, she's the only one, the others have been there nearer 10 minutes than 10 years lol. I hope she's ok and returns to Neighbours soon, if that's possible --5 albert square (talk) 22:08, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
I haven't read anything more about the incident, but I hope she's okay now. She hasn't been on-screen for a little, but I was thinking she might return since Steph is pregnant and she delivered Charlie. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:40, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

By the way, I see that Lothian Buses is finally tag-free! Woohoo!! Now just to get it 'tidied up' a bit before I consider whether or not it has good article potential :). One thing I might do for it is take my camera into town one day and see if I can't get a snap of one of the new Airlink buses that hit the roads last month so I can upload that image to Wikipedia and update it. For some reason the company recently seem to be changing the design of their buses as often as I have hot dinners, it's hard work trying to keep up with them! It's going to be a nightmare of a page to handle when the company merge with Edinburgh Trams, and in effect, cease to exist --5 albert square (talk) 22:20, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I saw. I don't know about GA just yet, but it's certainly looking better. If the company does cease to exist, it might prove beneficial for the article because you'd be able to chuck some stuff into the other article and use that one to discuss it as a historical company. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out- you might get some good sources out of the local news coverage. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:35, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Confused

5 albert square, I am confused why you flagged my actions as vandalism and disruptive. I removed the dated prod as the article does not fail notability. It does fail to cite external sources, which I will be adding later, but I am confused by your generic explanation added to the flag. Can you please explain? I refute the addition of the dated prod. How else am I to prevent deletion of the article without removing the prod? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hpiranha (talkcontribs) 13:02, 21 April 2010 (UTC) Hpiranha (talk) 13:06, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

additionally, there is no commentary in the article discussion, just a warning that I am about to be kicked out if I remove the prod again. Ah ok, I actually reverted it because there was nothing in the edit summary to state why it was removed. I have no idea though why Huggle went straight to a final warning though, give me a sec I'll remove that from your page :) --5 albert square (talk) 13:10, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
thanks! just started to add pages and I guess I added my comments to page discussion rather than page edit commentary. will learn quickly from my mistakes i hope!Hpiranha (talk) 13:15, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

As it's not a speedy deletion template you could remove it yourself, but you would need to state your reasons why you think the article shouldn't be deleted either in the edit summary or on the articles talk page --5 albert square (talk) 13:31, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Emmerdale

Hello 5, me again... I don't suppose you know much about Emmerdale? The need I have at the moment is a WP:RELIABLE birth date for Andy Devine (English actor), since there are IP editors (possibly all the same person) who keep adding "D.O.B 17 March 1949(age 61)" (or similar) to the Shadrach Dingle page, which I have been reverting as unsourced, and contradictory to the year 1942 given on the actor's article. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:25, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi there, I just spotted your message (because I stalk 5asq's talk page). I just found a 2010 interview with Andy Devine that says he is 67, which means he would have been born around 1942 - 1943. If you can't find a reliable source for his birth date, then I wouldn't include it in the article. Hi June, I'm glad you found that as I don't watch Emmerdale so don't have a clue about any of it's cast. The only suggestion I would have that you historyorb.com, On this day in history and UKTV. I used them all to reference Lorna Fitzgerald's date of birth when it was in dispute :) --5 albert square (talk) 19:16, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, you asked me the same question on my talk, but I'll reply here. Soooooo.. I remember reading he was in his sixties a few years ago and being shocked because he didn't look old enough IMO, so now it's a long time gone, I wouldn't of thought he's stayed 61... The sun article is reliable too, it all played out like they said it would. I'd stick with it until something better comes up, there isn't that much out there for him in terms of solid sources... unreferenced BLP vs. refimprove BLP

Hey, i notice you adding {{BLP unreferenced}} in this edit to Owen Brenman article. Could you please take care to only apply that tag to articles that have NO sources? The article had IMDB external link and perhaps something else. External links are accepted as general sources for articles, so this article was not unreferenced. IMDB also is regarded as not very reliable by some, but that is also a different issue; it is nonetheless a source.

The problem is that it inflates the high-profile issue for Wikipedia of completely unsourced BLPs. So, could you please use {{BLP refimprove}} and/or {{nofootnotes}} on similar articles in the future? Also, if you've tagged others similarly i would be very grateful if you would return and change those tags. Thanks! --doncram (talk) 23:50, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

OK, I actually tagged it because it has no references but thanks for pointing it out. It won't have happened to any other articles as I rarely find the need to tag articles nowadays --5 albert square (talk) 23:54, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay, you mean you tagged it because it has no footnotes / no in-line references, right? I retagged it with BLP refimprove and Nofootnotes. Thanks! --doncram (talk) 23:59, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for vandalism patrol on my userpage

Seriously. I don't know what kind of ultra-high-speed connection you have, but I know there's not much room to get any faster - and of course the best way to stop such pointless edits is to make them even more pointless than they would be otherwise. Do try to leave some work for ClueBot to do, though, okay? Gavia immer (talk) 22:36, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. Huggle is not normally that fast for me, I'm quite impressed with it tonight! As for ClueBot, I will always leave work for my friend to do. Even though one day ClueBot will probably turn around and say that he's more efficient than the rest of us lol! That said I also have ClueBot's pages on my watchlist, normally end up reverting vandalism on them too! --5 albert square (talk) 22:42, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Hah yeah, I was in the middle of reverting when you reverted and I couldn't stop my edit going through! Regarding this addition of the {{pov-check}} template to Shel Silverstein, can you explain the problem(s) you feel the article has with POV, on its talk page? Thanks!  Frank  |  talk  12:32, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I've now removed it, I think the text that I thought was not neutral has now been taken out as I can't see it there --5 albert square (talk) 05:38, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Great, thanks. (I looked on the talk page of the article for details on the tag and couldn't find any discussion of it.)  Frank  |  talk  11:20, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Grawp

See WP:LTA/Grawp for more info; not every page move vandal is Grawp but he has a distinctive style targeting various administrators and other long time contributors with obscene threats like that. Of course if the name Grawp appears in the summary it's definitely him, or at least an imitator, and those can generally be reported to AIV without any further warnings. If youre not confident then it may be best to use the normal warnings, because it;s likely that someone else has come upon the same vandalism and if theyre sure it's him they will report (or block if they happen to be an administrator). Yeah, you'll get to know which nutters are which. You spend enough time on the recent changes! If you get a page-move vandal, it's usually safe to report them straight away but if you're not sure, give 'em an "only warning". Btw, I blocked one of your vandals earlier! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:48, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm familiar with quite a few socks, the top two being Ln of x and Trueman31. Yes I noticed that you were busy at WP:AIV before, just as I was when it was backlogged! Thought I'd help out by offering my two pennies on vandalism reports. How are you enjoying your newly-found admin role? --5 albert square (talk) 22:09, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
I love it! Nothing like a bit of vandal whacking! I haven't updated ITN yet- the reason I wanted the bit- but I'm happy enough with the gleeful "ooh, what does that button do" for the minute! FYI, Simon Cowell has now joined the ranks of Category:Wikipedia indefinitely semi-protected biographies of living people. I'm surprised he wasn't in there already! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:29, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Haha he used to be but someone decided to let him loose again! I remember him getting unblocked, I came across the request by accident at WP:RFPP, saw the name and added it to my watchlist as I knew he's the sort of page that will always attract vandalism. It was out of protection 10 days before I got fed up of reverting and requested protection again. He was in protection for 6 months and was out of protection for about a day before I had to request it again, then in protection for a month and now out of protection for not even 2 hours! So hey, he's broken a record this time! I hate to think what the level of vandalism would be like if his page was ever unprotected whilst the X Factor was on! Thanks for locking him again :) --5 albert square (talk) 00:42, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Dear oh dear. You'll have to keep an eye on him, though- that's the kind of article that gets attacked by sleepers and autoconfirmed vandals. If you get any of them just bring 'em straight to me or AIV- we can't be doing with autoconfirmed vandals or this is the result! Now, back to playing with my new buttons :D HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:48, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi

This is to let you know that you can actually blank your own talk page. When editors remove comments off their talk page it is normally seen that that is their way of acknowledging the warning. Please see WP:BLANK, any questions feel free to ask me on my talk page :) --5 albert square (talk) 11:19, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi
Well, let me apologize for this little matter. However I created my home account here on English Wikipedia, normally I was caring for Turkish Wikipedia. Because of some matters I started to continue my contributions here. So I know about all Wikipedia rules, just don't know some different ones between all language projects. And I guess this is just a specific one in en.wikipedia project. I guess users (registered or anonymous) should not remove the content of their talk pages. (If there is no vandalism content) But of course they are free to archive their talk pages. Otherwise how will we (all user groups, especially patrollers) able to check which level of warning template has been sent to them or their behaviours. You know such warning templates are really important to be able to watch a user. Just an example; A is keeping a vandal behaviour, so B has warned A on his/her talk page. So the used template is {{uw-vandal1}}. Then A removed the content of his/her talk page but also kept behaving as vandal. Then C warned A this time. So it would probably be the same level of warning. Noone checkes the talkpage history during their anti-vandal war. Thank you :)--CnkALTDSmessage 20:28, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my userpage. I'm surprised though that a user with 9 edits could edit my userpage even though it is indefinitely semi-protected. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:20, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome. Maybe new editors can edit your page? I know that my page is permanently semi protected because it had meatpuppetry on it once, yet last month someone managed to vandalise it and they weren't a confirmed editor, they only had 80 edits. Month before that it was again an unconfirmed editor this time with only 27 edits. --5 albert square (talk) 22:26, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
The user wasn't new. He started editing in 2008. WP:AUTOCONFIRMED says that a user is autoconfirmed if they have at least 10 edits and the account is more than 4 days old. This editor had 8 when they went to edit my page. Strange. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:30, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

So far I've had to tell someone off for some name calling with Ryan Seacrest, same for Lee Byung-hun (whoever he is!), and I've had to point out that the legal age for buying cigarettes is still 18 and not 2 years of age! instead of letting a machine edit, can u make constructive changes to the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.224.5.28 (talk) 00:37, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia.

Firstly, I am a person that's editing not a machine.

Secondly, as far as I was aware I was contributing constructively to the article. You replaced the entire contents of the page with "please delete or fix this article see link". I reverted the edit because as one of Wikipedia's rollbackers that's what I do, I revert unconstructive edits.

I know nothing about this person so cannot contribute any further to the article. However, if you believe that the article can be improved then please be bold and improve the article yourself.

Take care --5 albert square (talk) 00:58, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

People don't stop being notable after they die. AnemoneProjectors 12:57, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
No, I'm not going to nominate it for deletion as the person is completely notable for a Wikipedia article. As Anemone says, just because a person is dead doesn't mean to say that they stop being notable. That said, if you can find some sources to back up his death can you please update the article to reflect this? I've had a look on Google but so far I can only find Facebook and blogs and they're not reliable enough --5 albert square (talk) 20:31, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Friday's EastEnders

Hi 5, just wanted to say I haven't yet seen Friday's EastEnders so I'm glad you've reverted plot that wasn't in the episode - I can't do it because I didn't know what happened yet. I'm assuming the additions to Syed and Amira's pages are ok :) anemoneprojectors talk 19:41, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Why do people do that? You'd think they'd find something better to do than add misinformation on last night's telly! Ah well. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:46, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Haha I just noticed edits to Syed and Amira's page. Amira's page looks ok but Syeds had the spoilers on it so that got reverted. Lucy Beale got the same spoiler earlier and I think it was Christian Clarke's turn earlier this week! From what I saw on the front page of a soap mag earlier I think Amira finds out that her husband is gay the next couple of weeks. I don't understand why people are so anxious to update pages with the news, it's taken Syed nearly a year to admit that he's gay and to own up to having an affair with Christian, waiting a couple of more weeks to add the reveal to Wikipedia isn't going to hurt! One thing though, I would not want to be in Christians shoes shortly! --5 albert square (talk) 20:23, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that before! I was looking at the diffs for Kat Moon and noticed someone had added a link on her page to it and given it it's own wee introduction in her page! I reverted it on Kat Moon's page because it's not worth going into in so much detail. Why someone thinks that particular 30 second scene is notable of it's own page in Wikipedia I don't know. I mean we've had Dirty Den murdered, Dennis Rickman murdered, an armed robbery in The Vic, Jack Branning shot etc etc, none of them get their own article, yet Kat screaming across the Square does! HJ it's not worth any article trying to link to it, the article lacks notability, it's not like Who Shot Phil?
HJ, I forgot to say before I've also added my comments to your discussion and I've told ClueBot about the discussion, hopefully Cobi will read their bots talk page and post a few thoughts --5 albert square (talk) 20:56, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Well thank you :). It's a week or two earlier than I'd planned, but it's all good. Seems to be going well at the minute- 50/1/0- but it's only been up for a day. No disrespect, but I doubt you'd get checkuser access without already being an admin- there wouldn't be much point having a CU who couldn't block socks. I don;t know why you'd want it anyway- I'd be bored to death of I had to do CU work. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:34, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

A disaster! Stacey and Jean both leaving! Wonder if they're regretting axing 6 yet... AnemoneProjectors 23:14, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Archie's*. She shouldn't go down for it anyway, even if they say they never want her back. Hopefully they'll keep on Mo and Kat so there's a reason for Stacey to return in the future. Otherwise it would be like bringing back... Vicki Fowler! And thanks for fixing the typo. Hey Anemone! I wasn't too disappointed, I did kind of expect it as I'm not admin and I THINK you would have to be that before you get checkuser rights. I don't think there's anything I can do to improve the edits that I make so I might consider putting myself forward for adminship at some stage.
HJ, thanks for the template, I think I've added it correctly :) --5 albert square (talk) 23:12, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Looks fine to me, though do you really want it to archive everything with no replies in just 3 days? I normally have mine set to 5, but my talk page is absurdly bust atm. As for adminship, RfA is hell (trust me, I've done it twice ;) ) but you ought to create User:5 albert square/EditCounterOptIn.js (just add anything you like as long as it turns the link blue) so I can stalk you.Oh, and if you ever want to pass RfA, start using edit summaries. Everywhere. There's a gadget in your preferences that won't let you save the page without an edit summary. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:25, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Ha, no, I've changed it to 5 days now :). I use edit summaries about 99.99999% of the time anyway, infact I usually tell people off for not using them, specially if I get confused by the edits! --5 albert square (talk) 23:32, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey HJ, thanks for the email, I'll reply to that within the next few days :). Anemone, I know! I'd been meaning to ask Cluebot's owner how to get a bot to do such tasks, just never got around to it! Just read on Madeline Duggan's page that she's leaving EastEnders - am disappointed in that as I've always really liked Lauren as a character. I'm starting to wonder if Kirkwood is going to leave anyone! --5 albert square (talk) 21:08, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Ben Mitchell is going too. Madeline's already filmed her exit scenes, and Jo Joyner is coming back for one episode before she comes back permanently - that's Lauren's exit. I'm disappointed that they're both going, they should stay because their families are on the Square. But people think that Ben will go to some kind of youth offenders institute and come back in a few years with a new head. I wanted to see him grow up - and hear his voice break! But Jodie Gold has just been announced as a new character - a love interest for Darren. AnemoneProjectors 00:22, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah me too. Apparently Charlie had to be consoled when he was told the news. I've noticed though that poor Charlie always seems to get compared to Jamie Borthwick, people saying that Jamie sounds and acts a lot more grown-up than Charlie does. It's a shame because it's not the actors fault his voice hasn't broken yet! I got a shock the other day though when I saw Jamie on-screen for the first time in what seems like years. He seems to have grown and matured so much! I wonder how Ben and Lauren will leave though? --5 albert square (talk) 05:40, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Oh My God I've been rushed off my feet tonight! First Kim Fox returning, then Mercy's gran joining, with a first name and a new face, then Zsa Zsa and Leon axed! Phew!!! :) AnemoneProjectors 00:15, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Seriously? Zsa Zsa and Leon are both off now as well? Kirkwood is having some clear out! I've updated Max Branning by the way :) --5 albert square (talk) 00:25, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah! I thought Zsa Zsa would stay on at least. I'm glad Fatboy is staying, and it looks like Mercy will be a long-termer with her gran joining now. I've just finished reading the Kirkwood interviews on DS and I am SO EXCITED! His first episode is on 7 June :) Thanks for updating Max. I wasn't sure that the recent stuff was very important to Max, but since you've put it in, it can stay (but might be ousted in a later cleanup!) AnemoneProjectors 00:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
God, I'm starting to wonder if he will leave anyone! I did wonder whether or not that update was important enough for Max, but I'm starting to think that he might get more involved especially as he's an ex-insurance salesman --5 albert square (talk) 20:01, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
