Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, such as the one you made to Lviv. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but I highly recommend that you create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits such as the ability to create articles. For a full outline and explanation of the benefits that come with creating an account, please see this page. If you edit without a username, your IP address (62.57.50.138) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on this page. Again, welcome! re: Spell-checking

[edit]

Hi Perry, thank you for your message. I also occasionally do some spell-checking. The tool I use is AutoWikiBrowser, or AWB for short. You can find out more info and instructions on it here. With AWB you can do manual, semi-automated and fully automated bot edits. You can import a list of Wikipedia pages in a text file and then run a 'RegExTypoFix' spell check on them. It may well fit into your system of spell checking.

Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 23:23, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome 62.57.50.138 to Wikipedia

Hi 62.57.50.138 and welcome to Wikipedia!

Be bold in editing pages and don't let others scare you off! To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use ~~~~ (four tildes). This will insert your name and timestamp.

Here are some links that you might find useful:

Wikipedia:How to edit a page
Tutorial
the sandbox, the place where you can experiment
Wikipedia:Where to ask a question
Wikipedia:Five pillars
our Manual of Style

You can contribute in many ways:

write an article
fight vandalism
be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
Improve illustrations and upload new images
perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you

I hope you stick around and keep contributing to Wikipedia. Should you need help, you can drop a note on my talk page or use the Wikipedia:New contributors' help page. You can also type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. If you want to learn from fellow wikipedians, consider getting adopted. Once again, welcome and I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia!

Wikipedia currently doesn't have a complete editing guide...instead it has a number of wiki articles. I believe the articles you seek are at Wikipedia:Help. The following two links are probably what you are looking for:

If you have any other questions, please leave a note at my talk page or here. Also, if you do consider doing a bit of editing on wikipedia, consider getting an account...its absolutely free.Smallman12q (talk) 13:22, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've made a simple "wikipedia for starters" pdf for you at wikipedia for starters.Smallman12q (talk) 13:38, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please see User:Smallman12q/Books/Wikipedia_For_Starters. From there, just click pdf and it should download as a pdf. It appears the earlier link expired. It's simple a pdf version of Wikipedia:Tutorial. If you need any further help, please leave a note either here or on my talk page. Welcome to wikipedia, I hope you enjoy your stay=D.Smallman12q (talk) 22:56, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
