PEnnsylvania 6-5000

[edit]

Thank you for your edit to 867-5309 (Jenny). However, please note that "PEnnsylvania 6-5000" (with the capital "e") is indeed the correct capitalization. As explained in Telephone number#Alphanumeric telephone numbers, under the old exchange-name system before the switchover to all-digit dialing, the first two letters of the exchange name were both capitalized, because those two letters were dialed as part of the phone number. (In other words, PEnnsylvania 6-5000 was the same as 736-5000: the "P" is 7, the "E" is 3, and then the rest of the number.) Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 21:54, 29 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops; didn't realise that. I'm sorry for my unintentional vandalism of the page. Please forgive me and allow me to become a helpful contributor to Wikipedia. Everyone needs a little Bad Weather. (talk) 10:52, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A good-faith edit is never vandalism. Happy editing. Hope to see you around the wiki. Newyorkbrad (talk) 18:47, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Donte Tate

[edit]

I'm not a regular editor of Wikipedia, but when I see obvious vandalism, poor grammar, etc, I like to try to do something about it.

I was reading the "Dwyane Wade" article yesterday. The three paragraph introduction ends normally enough, except there's a link to "Donte Tate" after the last sentence. It's totally out of context and confusing, so I followed the link to find a mostly empty page.

A quick googling tells me that there is no Donte Tate on the Miami Heat roster (see also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_NBA_Finals#Rosters since he claims to have been on the team for the 2012 championship). This is not a noteworthy person who deserves an article, this is somebody messing around for their own reasons.

I would have just removed the link from the "Dwyane Wade" article, but it's protected from troublemakers and anonymous users like me. Instead, I blanked the "Donte Tate" article to hopefully get some regular Wikipedia contributor's attention to this problem.

Sorry that I'm not more regularly involved in Wikipedia, especially considering how much I use it. I'm not at all familiar with what usually happens behind the scenes like this. Can you please help with this situation? Thank you. 71.34.24.245 (talk) 08:25, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good day,

While I recognise your edit as having been in good faith after reading your post here, please note that instead of simply blanking the page, which could be misconstrued as a test edit or vandalism, it is advised to post a message to the article's talk page regarding your suspicions that said article is inaccurate or a hoax.

Hope this helps!

"Minor" edits

[edit]

Please review WP:MINOR for the guidelines on marking an edit as being a minor edit. I notice you are misusing this tag. Air.light (talk) 07:13, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

So it's not acceptable to mark rephrasing of content so that it's objective as "minor"? I was under the impression from my reading that article previously that an edit was allowed to be deemed "minor" if there was no significant change to the meaning of the text. Could you please clarify what exactly the "minor" guidelines are?
Thank you,
Bad Weather 2014 My workWhat's wrong? 10:41, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As for the guidelines themselves, if that's what you mean, they're explained well in WP:MINOR, and are also at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Minor_edit. What I was specifically noticing was your changing of possible non-NPOV climate statements. Most of your changes with that are great actually, but they're not considered minor as they're more than just a simple typo fix. For instance, I was under the impression that when a place is considered to as having "warm summers" or "mild winters" that these terms are actually classified within the climate typology systems, although I could be wrong about this. You see, it's not just a simple typo fix or reverting obvious vandalism, it's something that all editors should have the opportunity to review. When you mark it as minor, some editors won't see it because they don't want to see all the minor edits and they set Wikipedia to not show them the minor edits.
Again, review the WP:MINOR and it explains it very clearly. Air.light (talk) 18:52, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for explaining, and I apologise for misusing the tag. -- Bad Weather 2014 My workWhat's wrong? 14:36, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your note Bad Weather, sorry! Also sorry for posting to your user page instead of talk page, my turn... Clare. (talk) 23:44, 20 November 2015 (UTC) Of course not! 00:10, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Help!

[edit]

Could someone please semi-protect my user page? It has been vandalised by three different user names in the last week and I'm getting sick of it.

Thank you,

Done By the way, WP:RFPP or the {{adminhelp}} template are better venues when you need help with page protection (or from an admin in general) than {{help me}}, which mostly summons regular editors who can't help with that. Huon (talk) 21:41, 17 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for both the tip and the protection. -- Bad Weather 2014 My workWhat's wrong? 21:44, 17 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
