Bluefish

[edit]

I have rewritten the culinary section of bluefish, and would appreciate your edits and comments.

In particular, your edit to the Bluefish article reads in part: "Their oily meat, quickness to go rancid, and concentration of PCBs make them unpopular among wealthy or inland consumers." This is footnoted to Fish Market[1]. But I don't see anything like that on p. 87 of the cited book. In contrast to the negative tone in your text, Hunt is very positive about bluefish. Were you depending on some other source for that material? I think it's important to include critiques like this when appropriate, but they need to be well sourced. --Macrakis (talk) 19:18, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a better source for the complaints at the time as it's hard to find any published media that complains about its own food. The negative views on the bluefish are ingrained in working-class coastal culture, but not exactly something written often. I am now fully aware that the source was inadequate, and will start looking for a better one. I just remembered I have a vintage book on reel-to-table seafood, and will look it over for bluefish information later today. Thank you for improving the article. --6DollarSuit (talk) 19:44, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
