I understand why this check was appropriate. I usually use a public wifi hotspot. I only respond or contribute in very rare cases, such as very minor typos, so I never think it's important enough to make an account and I have no clue what IP would have been associated with my history of rare minor edits. (I could probably dig a few up from memory but clearly not worth it) Just wanted to clarify for future reference. Thanks

This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address.
