April 2016

You edited the Linq, it was opened in 1979 not 2014

It re-opened as The Linq in 2014, just like how it re-opened as the Imperial Palace in 1979. If you want to use the original opening date, use 1959. That's when it initially opened as the Flamingo Capri (did you read the article?). As I already specified in my edit summary (something you failed to do), it just doesn't make sense to use an opening date (1979) that came between the original opening date (1959) and the latest opening date (2014). In addition to using the casino's latest opening date, I also specified the years of operation under the hotel's previous names. I felt that this was reasonable. If you disagree, perhaps you would like to discuss it on the casino's talk page.

As for your demanding request ("Also go fix the other casinos then. Change the opening dates on their infoboxes to make it accurate."), I don't take kindly to being told what to do. And I'm fine with using either the original opening date or the latest opening date, both of which should qualify as "accurate." From what I've seen so far, all of the pages for casinos that have re-opened are using their original opening dates, which is fine with me. In fact, the only problem I see is The Linq using an inaccurate opening date of 1979, which is 20 years after the place actually opened. AJFU (talk) 16:57, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Broker vs investor

I noticed one of the changes you made on a page justified by the fact that it seemed to promotion. I undid your revision because part of the changes included you switching investor to broker, which is quite the change in profession. You also excluded part of a description which I thought was too discretionary. Thank you always for your service in cleaning up the web. A little hard to understand, but I think I get what you're saying. You're referring to this edit, right?

Actually, no, I did not change the words around. You seem to have me confused with someone else. Bgwhite is the one who removed your additions, thus resulting in the changes which switched "investor" with "broker". This edit and the one I mentioned above are two separate edits made by two different people.

Bgwhite is the one whose edit you reverted. I saw in your edit summary that you referred to Bgwhite (whom you believe to be me) as a "troll". I didn't know people actually believed in them, but I can assure you that I am no troll. The problem with your edits was that the references were changed to link back to previous versions of the page, rather than to the sources themselves. I'm not sure I understand what you were trying to accomplish with that.

"Discretionary." That was a big word for me. I actually had to look it up on the Internets, and I'm still not sure I understand, as it has multiple definitions. "You also excluded part of a description" has me confused as well, as it is rather vague, considering the edit removed a ton of information. Hello. I suggest looking at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Novels.

• In the "Finding sources" section, it states: Because of Wikipedia's notability and verifiability requirements, it's important to make sure that there is substantial research to support your work on the Wikipedia article. General notability requirements for Wikipedia require significant coverage in reliable secondary sources with a reputation for editorial control. Novels need this in particular: most readers of a novel can write a plot summary about the work, but without discussion by outside experts, there is little opportunity to discuss issues like Themes, Style and Reception – which are the substantive real-world issues for these works. (For advice on writing these sections, see the discussion below).
• In the "Major themes" section, it states: In order to write a comprehensive "Themes" section, you must do research. You cannot present your own opinion of what the novel's themes are (WP:OR). You must present the consensus of literary scholars and historians.
• In the "Style" section, it states: Like the "Themes" section, this section should be based on as much research as you can do and should rely on the same sorts of sources – literary critics and historians, if possible, and book reviews and other writers' comments if not.

Also, I felt that the "Setting" section got a little off topic with the second paragraph that praised Costa Rica.  AJFU  16:27, 2 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi I appreciate your feedback however it was not appropriate to remove all of my work. I agree it could be edited to better reflect the aforementioned policies. Deleting it entirely is not assuming good faith Assume good faith (WP:AGF). I agree that the setting section needs some editing. All of the information regarding Costa Rica was right from the Wikipedia page and is common knowledge. Much of the analysis is preliminary and according to Wikipedia policy would not need a citation . I can edit it and add citations. However deleting it entirely is not appropriate.

I'm not sure what good faith has to do with this, as I never assumed any bad faith on your behalf. I know you only intended to improve the page. If I remove information that does not comply with the guidelines, it does not mean that I am assuming bad faith. Wikipedia:Common knowledge states: Wikipedia editors are strongly encouraged to find reliable sources to support their edits, and to cite them. Citing sources when your edit is challenged by another editor is Wikipedia policy, and any unsourced edits may be removed. For more information, see Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

You say that the information about Costa Rica is common knowledge, but that would not be true for someone who knows little about the country, such as myself. I'm not even sure that it is relevant to the novel, since it is only a work of fiction and not meant to be totally accurate. But if you could find a source that mentions the differences between the real Costa Rica and Crichton's version of the country, then that would be a great addition.

"hoaxing"? I don't know the meaning of the word, but I assume you mean to say that I am attempting to deceive you with false information. If so, then you are the one doing the hoaxing. I see nothing "Mean" or "disrespectful" about my removal of your falsified additions, which were not mentioned in the inline citation you provided. If you are so sure that Reliance and RatPac-Dune are involved with Ready Player One (film), then all you have to do is provide a reliable source (one that actually supports your claim). But instead, I assume that you'll probably just keep wasting your time by repeatedly adding the unsourced companies to the article, just like the other anonymous editors (or maybe it's the same person). Anyway, I hope that you'll prove me wrong about you by either:

• leaving the article alone
• or by providing a reliable source

That's not quite how I would describe myself, but it's a free country and you're entitled to your opinion, with which I respectfully disagree. Your contributions have been less than helpful; I and others will continue to revert them unless you start editing constructively. Look, before I made that edit it was already in the cancelled N64 and PlayStation games. I thought ok maybe they forgot to inform that ps1 and n64 releases were planned. Hello. I considered that this might have been the situation, but the sentence you added was still unsourced and had to be removed. After undoing your edit, I went ahead and removed those unsourced categories from the page as well. If you come upon pages like that in which a game is listed in an unsourced category such as "Cancelled Nintendo 64 games", it would probably be better to just remove those categories rather than to add unsourced statements that support such categories. However, if you do choose to write that a particular game was cancelled for a certain console, then you need to provide a reliable source for that claim.

I had left the warning on your talk page because you had previously been adding false information in regards to cancelled versions of video games. For example:

• At SpongeBob's Truth or Square (video game), you had reverted an edit I made without explanation and thus restored a false category (cancelled PlayStation 3 games) along with an unsourced sentence: "PS3 and PS2 versions was originally planned for release." You never provided evidence for these cancelled versions.
• A month later, you made this edit at SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge which added an unsourced claim about a cancelled Nintendo 64 port. Also, at that time, there was no category listed on that page for cancelled Nintendo 64 games.

These edits had kinda given me the impression that maybe you weren't exactly here to constructively contribute to the Wikipedia. Hopefully, I was wrong and maybe those past edits were somehow mistakes.

Hello. The page appears to be an anthroponymy page. Here are the guidelines for such pages. Initially, those two entries seemed okay, but since Daniel Maiorana redirects to a different page where he is only mentioned once, I'm not sure if he should be listed on the main Maiorana page. I skimmed through the guidelines but I didn't see anything relating to redirects. You might have better luck getting an answer by asking the question at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anthroponymy. Or you could ask one of the active participants listed along the right side of the page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy. I'm sure they probably know more about this than I do.

As for Jules Maiorana: that page redirects to Giuliano Maiorana. "Jules" is apparently just a nickname. You can probably just go ahead and update that to avoid the redirect.  AJFU  (talk) 16:06, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

Yes, "Giuliano Maiorana" should be correct. As for Daniel Maiorana, the Swedish version of Wikipedia has a page for him (here is a translation), which describes him as being Swedish. Perhaps you could write something like:

Landmark Hotel & Casino

Hi! I am Marc Wagner, Executive Director for the Landmark Hotel & Casino Memorial. First, I want to thank you for your work on the Wiki page for the Landmark. You've unearthed a LOT of information that we did not have on the construction of the tower. We have a website (at a temporary address) at http://nowheregaming.wixsite.com/landmark. ALL of the information on the site is verified through various sources (we have a link to our sources in the footer) including interviews with Landmark employees (still in progress). Thank you! I will do that. I do want you to know that finding those articles was a MAJOR find in Landmark history that we did not already know. All of the people involved with the construction have passed on and the companies went out of business long ago so it is hard to track down early information. Your efforts are much appreciated at the Memorial. I have logos that I can't get up on here becasue of copyright citations. The business folded years ago and with it went the copyright claims. We're against them. Is that your explanation for this edit? Because if not, then I don't understand why you posted this. Assuming this is the case, your personal beliefs are not valid reasons to delete information. Mary Anne MacLeod Trump did give birth to Donald Trump, and he did get elected as president. Therefore, Mary Trump was, in fact, the mother of a U.S. president. Erasing that information will not change anything in the real world, and it only makes more work for other people who have to change it back to the way it was.

• They committed stealing the election and committing obstruction of justice. Nobody trust and didn't won't Trump and Pence. We're against them. There is an ongoing investigation. I'll wait until that concludes, because I believe that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Regarding trust: you don't speak for everyone. I don't know what "didn't wont" means, so I can't comment on that. Who is "We"?

While the link does prove that she said it, it doesn't mention the Civil or Voting Rights acts, and it doesn't support the claim that this was a controversial statement that has received criticism from people. Baskin-Robbins article

Hi AJFU,

Nice to see there is some life on the Baskin Robbins page!

The problem with those edits is that none of those claims have been supported by any kind of a good source whatsoever. Sources have been requested for years on the talk page, and all those superlatives... "the world's largest", "America's largest"... have remained as unsourced as ever. There used to be at least the company website to go by (which is not a good source anyway), but now there is not even that: the company website is as dead as a doornail.

If you have any sources for those claims or at least some evidence that Baskin-Robbins still exists, maybe you could help out. --Anna (talk) 21:46, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Thanks! Now that is very strange. I can access the page you linked to, but I still cannot access their home page, no matter if I try http or https.

I have been a bit mistrustful of those claims because in the past, there have been a lot of claims in the article that were simply not true, or at least not up to date. Like for a long time, the website and/ or the article still claimed they had locations in Greece and in Germany, which hadn't been true for years.

So, the sources you name seem to be perfectly good sources to cite, but I must admit I can't help feeling that they too only echo Baskin-Robbins' own claims about themselves. We have yet to see any kind of serious proof for "the world's largest" (and, btw, what does that mean? In terms of stores? In terms of sales figures?).

I have also been a bit mistrustful because of my own private original research. :-) During our more recent trips to the United States, we haven't been able to find a single BR store. Well, sure, as I said, these are perfectly good sources to cite in WP, and they definitely are better than the unsourced company claim that had been sitting in the article for years.

Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Style guidelines/Copy-editing essentials#Don't lose the plot mentions "Provide only what is necessary to set the rest of the article in its appropriate context. For example, if the Changeling article were to later discuss production information about the Reverend's radio addresses, it may be appropriate to place that detail in the plot section to avoid confusing the reader ["what radio address?"]. Alternatively, if discussion of such is limited to one part of the article, mention it there to keep the plot section short." As the scene is mentioned in the "Writing", "Filming" and "Critical response" sections, it seems like it would be worth describing (at least somewhere in the article) what the actual scene is like. All due respect, that advice at WP:FILM does not trump the general advice given at WP:FILMPLOT (and by extension, MOS:PLOT), which describes plot summaries as concise overviews of a work's "main events". I understand Zara receives coverage elsewhere in the article, but that coverage of the character is based on reasons unrelated to the plot. I think the previous consensus to exclude Zara from the plot summary got it right. Now if you want to expand upon Zara's death elsewhere in the article, it might be acceptable as long as the addition is properly referenced (secondary sources should be discussing the death in detail to demonstrate why it's significant). Not everything that is verifiable needs to be in the article, so it's a careful balance between WP:DUE and WP:V that we have to take into consideration. --GoneIn60 (talk) 05:22, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

How on Earth are you gonna just rely on one single source for the List of Courage the Cowardly Dog episodes articles, as well as other episode list-related articles of the older Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon cartoons from back in the day anyway? I've seen a couple of Cartoon Network's Powerhouse Era-related videos on YouTube that proves otherwise. Same with The Powerpuff Girls. You are correct that multiple sources should be looked at. These and Zap2It are reliable sources according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Television/FAQ.

• Courage the Cowardly Dog at Rotten Tomatoes

It looks like TV Guide and Rotten Tomatoes mostly have the same air dates that are listed at Zap2It, but some of Zap2It's air dates for season 2 don't match the other two websites. Since TV Guide and Rotten Tomatoes appear to support the same air dates for season 2, these two websites are perhaps more accurate and might be better sources to use for the Courage the Cowardly Dog episode list. The U.S. copyright website also has at least some episodes listed along with air dates. As with this case, multiple sources should be looked at to determine if other cartoons have the correct air dates.  AJFU  (talk) 21:32, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

Okay fine. I just hope I can someday find some more sources for the Courage the Cowardly Dog and the Ed, Edd n Eddy episode list articles. I took a good look at the listing for the latter's seasons 3, 4, and 5 and quickly realized they are in the wrong order in terms of airing and production. I'll try to look over at Wikia too and see what sources they have that I can also include here, but knowing Wikia, they probably don't have much either. Bizaardvark's "Halloweenvark Part 3: Mali-Boo!" could probably be fleshed out a bit. Another editor got it, but could probably have just a bit more detail and such.

In any case, and I'm late on this, but thank you so much for cleaning up the summaries and writing summaries for the episodes whose summaries were removed for COPYVIO, as well as rewriting "Space Colony," for Lab Rats and Lab Rats: Elite Force. I don't know if you have plans on rewriting the other double-length specials in the fourth season, but I'm sure you saw how Space Colony's was rather messy. People were just writing too much, I guess. lol Now, because they are double-length episodes, it's of course fine to write longer summaries for them and double the 100–200 to 200–400. The problem is, whether 30 minutes or 60 minutes, you don't want to go too crazy, and it's what a lot of people do, something that I'm also guilty of myself.
