Hello Abdalla Bayoumi. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Turkpidya, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Abdalla Bayoumi. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Abdalla Bayoumi|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:12, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DoubleGrazing,
Thank you for your message and for ensuring compliance with Wikipedia’s guidelines. I would like to clarify that I am not being paid by anyone, for my contributions to the Draft:Turkpidya or any other edits on Wikipedia.
I am committed to upholding the principles of neutrality and verifiability in all my contributions.
I appreciate the importance of transparency and the concerns about paid advocacy on Wikipedia. Please rest assured that my editing activities are in line with Wikipedia’s policies and the spirit of volunteer-based contribution.
Thank you for addressing this concern, and I hope this clarification is satisfactory.
Best regards,
User:Abdalla Bayoumi Mas12514 (talk) 17:23, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello DoubleGrazing,
I would like to clarify the use of my two Wikipedia accounts, Abdalla Bayoumi and Mas12514, and how they align with Wikipedia's guidelines for legitimate alternative accounts. Abdalla Bayoumi is my primary account for general editing and article contributions. Mas12514, on the other hand, is utilized mainly for administrative tasks such as monitoring changes and participating in community discussions. This account setup helps me manage and organize the high volume of email notifications and updates I receive from Wikipedia, allowing me to keep these communications separate from my primary email to avoid distractions in other areas of my life.
This approach is intended to maintain focus and efficiency in my contributions to Wikipedia. It is in no way an attempt to mislead or violate Wikipedia's policies regarding the use of multiple accounts.
To address any concerns about conflict of interest, I wish to clarify that as Abdalla Bayoumi, I am not receiving any form of payment for my contributions to Wikipedia, including the editing and creation of the Draft:Turkpidya page. My involvement is driven by a personal commitment to enriching the platform and adhering to its principles and guidelines.
Best regards, Abdalla Bayoumi (talk) 17:38, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The sources give this website's creator as Abdullah Habib. Source #2 (TRT World) states that Habib's real or full name is "Abdalla Khaled Ahmed Mohamed Bayoumi" (emphasis added). Your username is Abdalla Bayoumi. Given this rather obvious connection, would you like to elaborate on the matter? Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:19, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello DoubleGrazing,
I acknowledge the connection between my Wikipedia username and the individual mentioned in the TRT World article – I am Abdalla Khaled Ahmed Mohamed Bayoumi. My contributions to Draft:Turkpidya stem from personal interest and knowledge, not financial gain. I have not received any payment from Turkpidya.
While I recognize this may appear as a potential conflict of interest, I am not engaged in paid editing. Hence, using the
tag does not seem applicable. I am open to alternative ways of disclosing this connection to satisfy Wikipedia's guidelines and maintain transparency.
Your guidance on this matter would be appreciated.
Best regards, Abdalla Bayoumi (talk) 18:37, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there is anything "potential" about your COI, that much is pretty clear. Whether or not this comes under our paid-editing rules is perhaps debatable; per WP:PE, I would say it does:

An editor has a financial conflict of interest when they write about a topic with which they have a close financial relationship. This includes being an owner, employee, contractor, investor or other stakeholder.

In practical terms, whether you declare generic COI or the specific paid-editing COI, either way the outcome is the same, meaning that you cannot publish this article directly yourself but must instead put it through the AfC review process (which you're doing already anyway), and once it is published (assuming) you cannot make substantive edits to it but must make edit request via the talk page.
If it were me, I would declare paid, just to be on the safe side. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:47, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your guidance. I wasn't aware that it's possible to declare a conflict of interest (COI) without it necessarily being related to paid editing. Understanding this, I agree that declaring a COI aligns better with my situation and Wikipedia's policies.
Could you please guide me on the correct procedure for declaring a COI in this context? I want to ensure I follow the proper steps to maintain transparency and adhere to Wikipedia's guidelines.
Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Best regards, Abdalla Bayoumi (talk) 18:51, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will post a new message below with instructions for disclosing general COI. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:54, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, for your guidance, I have declared a COI in the talk page. Abdalla Bayoumi (talk) 19:05, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Abdalla Bayoumi. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Turkpidya, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:55, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
