I reverted one of your edits, which put the tag for "needs more references" back on the article. In general, any article with only one reference needs more references, and qualifies for the tag. It is used to encourage others to find more references. The maintenance tag shouldn't be removed until the problem is fixed, or at least the topic is discussed on the articles talk page. I understand the confusion, but removing tags on any article is something to avoid unless you are confident of the removal, and have explained it in the summary and/or talk page. Sterling Bullet Image

[edit]

I wanted to answer your question, but that page is being deleted. The reason the picture you uploaded was deleted was that you didn't own it. You weren't the photographer, thus didn't have the right to redistribute the image. The owner of the photo didn't license it under a free license, thus obviously didn't want someone else using it without permission. All the images I see of the Dodge Ram appear to be made by the user's who uploaded them, except one made by the US Dept. of Trans. If I find one that isn't, I tag it for copyright violation. Since this is part of my real job, I'm pretty familiar with finding out if it is a violation. You might want to read WP:Copyright for a better explanation. By the same token, if you ever find a picture you believe is a copyright violation, please let me know. Just put the link to the actual image on my talk page and say you have a concern about it. I can do the rest.

Other photos, like ones published by the US Government, are always in the public domain, meaning anyone can use them for any reason. Many photos (but not ALL) on websites like Flickr are licensed under the Creative Commons license, so they are ok to copy here (like the other Sterling Bullet photo on that page, which I also checked out. If you find an image and you aren't sure if it is ok to use or not, again, put a note on my talk page and I will be happy to give you my opinion as to the status of it. There are others here that can do the same if you ask. Copyright status isn't simple, so confusion is understandable, and why it is good to ask.

Finally, I don't doubt you uploaded the image in good faith, but it still can't be here. We all make mistakes, this is how we learn. If there had not been another Sterling photo, I would have gone and tried to find one myself, as the article needed one. It just needs one that we can legally use. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, I will make the time to help as best I can. Dennis Brown (talk) 02:06, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
