There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

May 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Theroadislong. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Shobha Gurtu, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 17:11, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Menggie Cobarrubias. Your edits could be interpreted as vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 17:11, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your thread has been archived[edit]

Teahouse logo

Hi AbhinavA1694! The thread you created at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, Editing Wikipedia pages, has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days. You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please feel free to create a new thread.

The archival was done by Lowercase sigmabot III, and this notification was delivered by Muninnbot, both automated accounts. You can opt out of future notifications by placing {{bots|deny=Muninnbot}} here on your user talk page. Muninnbot (talk) 19:02, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

June 2020[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... ‎, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 03:41, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Christoph Sydow, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not add date/place of birth without a reliable source. Scraper websites which you've used in the prior edits are NOT reliable sources - stick with high quality newspapers and websites. You will end up blocked if you keep making unsourced edits like this. Ravensfire (talk) 13:11, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Jeanson James Ancheta. Seriously, if you change the date of birth again without a source, you will be reported for repeated unsourced edits to articles about a living person. Ravensfire (talk) 16:43, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Ameesha Patel. Do NOT add date or place of birth again without also adding a reliable source that supports the date. Ravensfire (talk) 22:14, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Ameesha Patel. You need to read the reliable source page. You CANNOT just use any site that comes up on a google search, it has to be a good source. thefamousbirthdays.com is not a good source - it's a blog / scraper site that pulls from lots of places, including Wikipedia. Same thing with onenov.in, it's not a good source. Stick to newspapers and HIGHLY regarded sites. Ravensfire (talk) 02:57, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for June 18[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kabhi Na Kabhi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tamil (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:07, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Personal plea - PLEASE READ THIS[edit]

AbhinavA1694, I'm hoping you read this and understand that while your edits are being made in good faith, you need to also include sources/references that support your changes. I've left you quite a few warning messages about this and having seen you respond to any of them or start using sources. I'm not the only person that's left warnings either. You NEED to use sources on your edits. If you don't do so after this message, I will take this to the admin noticeboard and ask that you be blocked until you start talking with other editors and show that you understand the issues and how to use sources. Ignoring all of these warnings message isn't an option, you'll just end up blocked.

If you don't know what sources are, or how to use them, Help:Referencing for beginners is a great page to help you understand why sources are needed, what are good sources (blogs, scraper sites, other wikis are bad, stick with major news sites!) and how to include those sources in your edits. I'd really prefer not to ask for you to be blocked, but if you continue as you are, that's the only option. Thanks. Ravensfire (talk) 00:14, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reported to AIV after [1] this sequence of edits where the month and day of the birth date is not in the source. Ravensfire (talk) 20:00, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

July 2020[edit]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for repeated addition of unsourced content, in spite of excessive warnings, pleas, and a previous block, as well as a complete refusal to communicate.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~Swarm~ {sting} 00:38, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • You may be easily unblocked without delay. However, you need to start communicating, and acknowledging and rectifying the sourcing issues that have been repeatedly brought to your attention. Thanks, ~Swarm~ {sting} 00:38, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Some stuff I put into the Wikipedia pages may be useful. AbhinavA1694 (talk) 17:44, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:52, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia and the block is no longer necessary because I understand what I have been blocked for, I will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and will make useful contributions.

Decline reason:

Giving us the verbatim unblock instructions ain't gonna work. We read them everyday. You gotta elaborate, and give details about why you know it was wrong and what will change going forward. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 18:33, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am now having to review hundreds of edits made by you to undo BLP violations wherein you added unsourced personal information across myriad articles. So yes, the block is very much necessary to prevent damage and disruption.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:14, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

The block is no longer necessary because I understand what I have been blocked for and I will not continue to introduce incorrect or unsourced information to articles. I know it was wrong because the information I added was not correct, or even if it was correct, it was still unsourced. I will only edit a Wikipedia page if the information is useful and sourced.

Decline reason:

I do not feel an unblock right now would be in the best interest of Wikipedia. The violations were completely too many to count, and this led to a great deal of cleanup. I would wait for six months or so to get a better understanding of how Wikipedia works, then request a new unblock. RickinBaltimore (talk) 16:52, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
