Red dog

[edit]

You may not be aware of this but Wikipedia is not (WP:NOT) a collection of random links. From your username which is very similar to the name of the creator of the website you are linking too there also seems to be a conflict of interest. Have a look at WP:NOTADVERTISING, your current edits are in violation of this. Thanks, Calistemon (talk) 21:32, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunatly, the way it looks adding your website would probably be in violation of WP:SPAM. Something you could do would be to provide a better image of the statue, the current one isn't all that good. A version of the one on your website but without the Christmas decoration would be quite good. Just keep copyright in mind, it has to be your own picture or somebodies that gave you permision to use it. Calistemon (talk) 01:07, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Calistemon how do I provide the picture do I sent it to you and you put it up or do I enter it into references and how do I tag it can it say its from the website what latitude do I have ?

If I was able to enter the photo what about the other areas that have Red Dog linksbacks or should require Red Dog presence eg Karratha, Port Hedland, Paraburdoo, Australian Kelpie etc can that photo be added and referenced back. I also have anthony@reddogwa.com would this be a conflict using this email address when posting

regards anthony

Hi Anthony, you can upload the photo or photos yourself by using the Upload file function on the left hand side. You can credit yourself as the owner and state your website as the source. In this case it isn't spam as no link to the website as such will appear in the article, only the picture. But you have to be the owner of the picture for it to be useable on Wikipedia. Generally its best to upload it to Wikimedia Commons and release it as a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license as this allows the use of the photo on other language Wikipedias. Red dog

[edit]

Actually the articles says "Red is buried in an unmarked grave somewhere between Dampier and Karratha", not that he died there. I had a look at the source this statement uses and it says "He is supposedly buried in an unmarked grave between Karratha and Roebourne". That doesn't quite line up and doesn't sound very certain either. What I suggest is you change the article to what you believe is correct and state your book sources for the information.
