Request for new, relatively simple operation[edit]

@John of Reading:Hey, John. Could you scan this page for every listed image with a single bullet in front of it and replace its filename with the filename listed under it with two bullets across the usual User:Abyssal/Articles to caption articles plus User:Abyssal/Image captions to use? Then remove the source code from this page for each pair that was successfully copy-replaced. Abyssal (talk) 16:52, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just to check: for the second one, I'm searching for [[File:Anomoepus and Grallator.jpg| <anything here> ]]<!-- [[Anomoepus]]: Ichnobox/short --> and replacing the whole thing with the new version on the following line, thus updating both the image name and, in this case, the caption. That looks doable. -- John of Reading (talk) 17:09, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@John of Reading:I mean just replace the file name. Abyssal (talk) 21:41, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've set up my regular expressions; I think I'm ready to start these edits, if that's OK with you. It looks as if I don't have to worry about image names within {{multiple image}} because you've taken them all out? -- John of Reading (talk) 09:25, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Some other editors disliked the multiple image template so they've been removed. A smaller quantity might get re-added some time in the future, though. Abyssal (talk) 13:48, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done, I hope. Ping me when there are more to do; it should be fairly easy for me to run this again. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:25, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@John of Reading: Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully this will be finished by then. Could you run this again, please? Abyssal (talk) 02:13, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@John of Reading: Once again, maestro! Oh, quick question: can that tool you use access and make use of the image dimension information that can be found in a picture's filespace page? Abyssal (talk) 02:48, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done. No, my regular expressions only work with the text on the page being edited. In theory, AWB can be configured to call out to arbitrary chunks of C++ code, but that's way beyond me. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:18, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
