Article of Choice

[edit]

Maui Jim

After doing some more research on finding independent sources, I decided to explore the ones previously listed in the stub article. By looking at these sources, I am now confident that I can add meaningful information to the stub article. To make my contribution academic in nature, I plan on writing about the seven layers of polarization that Maui Jim lenses provide in addition to how these layers affect one's eyes. This will go under a technology section within my article. I will also include a history portion to my article. This will include the story of how Maui Jim went from a resort sunglass loaning program to an international corporation. I am excited to do more research and build upon a page that I am passionate about.

Articles for Consideration

[edit]
  • Cold Spring Harbor Jr./Sr. High School
    • Reason: I attended this high school and after looking at the current page, some of the statistics are outdated and I feel that I can add helpful information.
    • Out of my options, I feel this one is the most academic in nature and I can use sources outside of the school's website (US News & World Report).
  • Maui Jim
    • Reason: Over this past summer I worked as a Sunglass Hut employee. During my time there, my managers stressed to me the impressive quality of Maui Jim sunglasses. This is now something that greatly interests me and after looking at the current page, I feel that there is so much more to the company that is being left out.
    • I feel that I can't write an unbiased article on the history and technology of Maui Jim sunglasses.
    • My biggest concern will be finding independent sources written about Maui Jim and being able to incorporate them into my article.
    • I plan on looking at the resources that have already been used on the page.
  • Cold Spring Harbor State Park
    • Reason: I live in Cold Spring Harbor and I frequently hiked trails in Cold Spring Harbor State Park. I feel that this article is definitely lack pictures as well as some history.
    • I feel that this article may be a little bit more difficult to write about because after further research, there are not many academic articles written about Cold Spring Harbor State Park.

Nice work!
