Blindfold

Thanks for your work on blindfold. The sort of changes you made were about exactly what I had in mind when I suggested the merger. Good work! Hogtied 07:31, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks and you're welcome. I agree that multiple articles about the same thing aren't always necessary. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 07:44, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Spidey 3 Cast

Maybe we should use the forward slash, that is the way the other Spider-Man pages distinguish characters. It could be assumed that it would be the best way to go about things, to follow how the previous pages note them. Bignole 21:06, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Right. Maybe we should start saying "Pwn" instead of "own", too. I want to pwn a car, et cetera. Give them an inch...you know the rest. Direct me to articles I can fix. This is bad grammar no better than not spacing after using commas or caps abuse. I'm really surprised you'd cave like this after all you went through to keep spec out. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 21:10, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

It's hardly caving, I've just never put the effort into fighting to keep the forward slash with the aliases. That is the way they appear in the credits, and the way the other two Spider-Man pages distinguish between character aliases. It's just fair to keep all the associated pages together. If you have 5 Batman pages, you don't call him by a different name on each page, do you? I think in this case it may be best to go with the "pwn" crowd (even though it pains me to even say pwn..cause I want to smack people for actually saying that). Bignole 21:37, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey, i'm tucking this in this section so it's not so obivous... take a deep breath on the Spider-Man 3 page. Most of the editors who actually use the talk page there really want to help... some are dumb, but they mostly mean well there. (unlike other parts and pages of wiki) ThuranX 18:41, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks. I'm trying, believe me. I'll get a handle on it and be the ace edior I usually am in no time. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 18:52, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

The Dark Knight

Hey, just to let you know, there is no page called the burden of proof. However, seeing it makes me wonder if it wouldn't do a lot of good for those of us who pay attention to the future comic-themed films to pursue a 'Wikipedia:Burden of Proof' page, or find somethign with the same purpose and create a linking header template for adding to such films, instead of what was previously done at the The Dark Knight page by Erikster and myself, putting a comment warning of the need for citations. Thoughts? ThuranX 17:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Hmm. Well, clear policy about citations and such would certainly help. I'm game. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 17:36, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Alright, give me a little time to look around wiki, and if I find nothing, I'll try to comp up some text for the template box, post it here, and after agreement, create a subpage off my userpage for staging, and we'll work from there.ThuranX 17:45, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Ok, so comping seemed easier to jsut do IN the webpage. Please look hereUser talk:ThuranX/CitationTemplate, and give me feedback. I've tried to phrase it confidently and politely.ThuranX 17:57, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Excellent. Color's nice, too. Couldn't have done it better myself. ACS (Wikipedian);
Thanks, I'm going to post it at Template: Citation now.ThuranX 18:07, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Or not. I've got to find a place for it, because the citation templates are for creating citations, not for asking for such citations. I'll ask over there, find a place for it.ThuranX 18:09, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

I'd recommend fixing it first, and try not to ignore your talk page, man. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 23:26, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Regarding that last GIPU edit, I believe the punchline you wee looking for was 'alllll we arrre saaayyying, is give Heath a Chaaaance'. ThuranX 23:45, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Ha ha. That would have been classic. Damn. Why didn't I think of that?
(cause I'm cool like dat)

I intended the template to be on the Talk page, not the main page. I'm not sure if putting it on the article itself is confrontational or not. On a page like the Dark Knight, I understand the up-front placement, but I do wonder if that won't be taken wrong by other editors.ThuranX 04:08, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, you worded it very nicely. It doubt anyone would take offense or want to remove it—for non-vandalous reasons—any time soon. Honestly, though, I also sometimes wonder what good templates do on talk pages. Look {{controversial}}. Someone can just, like, look up any "controversial article" and edit it at their leisure. No sign of a problem. No thought to facts, tension or disputes. With something like this, especially, I'd think that it's critical we place it on the top front page. Even a simple change to the cast would need some sort of source. Plus, it's not so much a "matter of fact" or "this needs to stay (out of sight)" thing like..."this got a grade A! lol". The template would be largely useless after all the facts have been gathered. However, right now we can't even prove Holmes is in or out. That's...bad. Then there's this between stuff and the Harvey Dent casting. It's not Spider-Man 3, but if the casting of the Joker is any example, this is an article which needs a majority of it's edits to include citations. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 04:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

You added Rancid to the list of articles to be fixed from the July 17, 2006 database dump; however, this article was not in that database dump, and adding new articles to the list upsets the maintenance of the progress counter. You are, of course, welcome to work on Rancid or any other article, just please don't alter the original list on the project page. And thanks for contributing to the project! --Russ Blau (talk) 11:40, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Symbiotes

Hi, I've noticed you working on the symbiote articles as well and you seem to know your stuff also. Do you know about this Venom combining with Thor 'What If' story that someone keeps adding to the list of Venom hosts in the Venom article? I've never heard of it and can't find any reference to it so I can't tell if its real or not.Darkwarriorblake 18:50, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Superheroines

Well, it looks like I just screwed it up, plain and simple. I'm not a big comics fan and we've been having quite a day in vandalism patrol, so I see an IP editor add 'Barb Wire' and I think of the stuff that's strung out on our farm to keep the cattle in, not a superheroine. *slaps herself as punishment* Sorry about that - revert me to your heart's content! Thanks for letting me know - Baseball,Baby! ballsstrikes 01:01, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Heh. I had nearly the same reaction when I first saw it added. Thanks for clarifying...with a self-slap, no less. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 01:24, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but no thanks

Thank you for disambiguating in this edit, but I didn't want it for my userpage. I'd rather just leave them ambiguated (is that a word?) Anyway, - Bagel7 19:54, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

No problem. Feel free to change it back, if you like. It's funny, I thought about avoiding userpages altogether, but a lot like yours seem so clearly marked, I thought it'd be lazy not to get to everything. Sorry if it caused any problems. Griffin Grey

What about moving it to Griffin (DC Comics)? That would make more sense as a redirect. I made Griffin (Comics) a disambig page. (forgot to sign) -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 21:49, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Nah. Now that I know about the marvel guy, i'll leave it be. Grey might just retire. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 21:59, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Seeing that you are a fellow editor that watches The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3, I was wondering about your opinion as how to approach the Transformers article. I have no knowledge of the Transformers universe, but the article is incredibly disreputable at the moment. I'd like to work on improving it (as The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3 have been shaping up), but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions? --Erik 16:06, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Ah. Well, I'm mostly about maintainance with upgrades. Don't necessarily known how to fix it, but I suppose the place to start would be the "internet leaks" section. It's probably the most blatent issue. There and other places in the article, most of the external links could stand be transformed—forgive the pun—into proper references. Statements about "fan reaction" or "controversy" should probably be removed or changed. As mentioned on the talk page, there probably shouldn't be too many instances of nicknames being used over real names. Other than that, I'm not sure. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 17:15, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

The Class

I reason I deleted the reference to Lisa de Moraes in the class is because I felt you did not identify who she is and it was a matter of opinion and not fact. I also felt it distracted too much from the entry. I'm sorry if you felt this was vandalism. After all this is Wikipedia. Just my opinion.

Symbiote reflections

(here's as good a place as any...) I like the split reflection image you made and added to the SM3 page... I wonder though, is there an 'original' comics page image available? That would probably be even better if available, and eliminate the 'middle step' of the cartoon. We've seen other covers and such built into the films as shots, (like the trash can costume shot, peter's back to the viewer walking away in #2). Just a thought... On another note, I added you to a list on my user page. ThuranX 21:10, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
A new section would have been fine. It's easy to archive my usertalk if I feel the need. Oh and thanks for adding me. I really dig that what I'm doing is really appreciated. Now then, the comic image in question is far less relavent, I'm afraid. For starters, the SG cover is not the originator. The bonding, history, character, time of day, positions, etc are all different. Still, I'll let you see your yourself. click here. I do see a similarity in how the symbiote is coating/immitating the costumes of SG and Movie-Spidey, but with the differences outweighing the similarities, I'd rather not complicate things by trying to show all three images. I think i'll change the text in the trivia section and mention this on the article talk page. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 21:42, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
NOt what I meant. What I was getting at was that I suspect that there's a panel or cover from the late 80's, right when the whole 'suit is teh ebil' story started, that that scene is meant to evoke, like the aforementioned trashcan suit shot. I may be wrong, but clearly, the cartoon predates the spidergirl cover, and I wonder if there isn't an actual spiderman comic cover which predates the cartoon. It is that original shot which i'm interested in. ThuranX 23:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Coronis isn't a Sockpuupet

Hi ACS, I haven't checked my old talk poage in a while. MrSteveee

I still don't understand who made you the grand aribitor of such things. Your response just says that you justify your actions because you choose to do so. That smacks of pompass behavior. In my world, groups of people come to a concencus on such things, not just arbitrarily revert someones contrinution to an idea because they don't like it. Irrelevant, I guess you're king of your little pond, so enjoy it. It's a dirty, smelly pond anyway.

I'm not going to read the above, but I do want to ask: You have a pond, ACS? Do you also have ducks? I've always thought it would be nice to have a pond in my backyard. Some people I know who have a pond, their daughter died, and I think of it whenever I drive past their pond. When you think of it, ponds are kind of sad. I still want one. Now. GIPU

You used this term in your comments after editing Deadpool (comics) "Correcting stereotypical GIPU spelling". And you used it after one of my edits here Titans East "Revert and change. There. Nah. I see where you're coming from, Basi-Boy, but it's a perfectly fine term. No worse than "BTW" or "NPOV". I use it to quickly point out the difference between GIPUs and...say...registered Wikipedians. I'm not saying GIPUs shouldn't be allowed to edit, just know their accountless place. I mean...if you have an account, use it. Don't hide behind an IP address. Also, I've found that there are certain generalities relating to unregistered users. They do tend to make moire mistakes and be less aware of Wikipedia's policies. Also, they don't seem to respect registered users. I mean, if I didn't have the courage, integrity and/or dedication to register, I'd respect those who did. And you. You, yourself, seem to change (for the worse) when you're in that GIPU guise. What's up with that
I'll admit, though, that I might take it too far sometimes. I'll try to tone it down a notch...at least for today. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 18:56, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Geeze, Ace... I keep your talk on my watchlist for bot hthe common pages watches we have, AND the comedy value, but... really, dude. Don't ask him his race like that. No one can tell yours, so no one can tell if you use brother as a sign of camaraderie, or derision, or out of ignorance, or what. Finally, I agree that those who have accounts should use them and not hide behind passive-agressive GIPU/acc't behaviors. However, if it becomes an issue, remember we already have sockpuppet remedies for that. I don't think Bas counts for that though... ThuranX 20:50, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Really? Well...>.> I'm black. I know I act like a crazy white boy, but I digress. I don't usually say "brother", but I thought he'd react better to it. I can't say I understand him, but I if he is black, it would at least explain a bit. He might take "boy" to be condescending or something statement of his inferiority/immaturity. Prod Tags

The {{subst:prod|REASON}} tag automatically creates a specific format for timestamps that is used by parsing scripts. When you generate it by hand or edit it, you break those scripts. Please tag prod's using only the {{subst:prod|REASON}} template and don't manually edit the parameters. One extra day on Feedback (movie) isn't going to hurt anything and some would argue the clock should only start from when it is properly categorized (which your original tagging didn't do). Let me know if you have any question. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 19:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

DCAU Cat

Category:DC_Animated_Universe_characters is empty and a dupe of Category:DC_animated_characters. Which is why it got deleted, I think. well maybe u should look around the internet and u would find that i have evidence that can certify what i say/write. Do not impugn my honor by saying i have commited vandalism just because you do not keep up to date with info.

well...

my intention was to provide information....wether it meets wikipedia standards or not isnt up to me....i just put the info there and u can fix it if u want im pretty new at this im sorry i dont know how to use wikipedia properly. i dont really care what it looks like cuz i kno someone...this case you....would either try to contradict me or try to help me....usually its the 1st and then it leads to the second...but anyways yea im done.

I speak my mind. I know it's a rare trait around here, but I do. Forgive me if I don't thank vandals for "experimenting" and such. Admittedly, Cyber's a good guy who just made a mistake. Still, he seemed to be a bit careless and hurried (or "tired", in his words). Looking at the situation, I suppose could have been a bit nicer, but I didn't feel like it. I don't want to put on the nice ("Hey! BTW, you kinda made a little mistake; nothing serious.") front. He was presenting a new, misspelled category and including it in multiple pages. Category's aren't my speciality, but I'm pretty sure they need to use proper spelling. And later, he still tried to add a nonexistent category in place of the original. Sure, his category will probably get speedily renamed and become useful. However, looking at the facts and his actions, he seemed a little rude, too. Not in the overt way you might consider me to be, of course, but still. He's assertively called on a mistake and then makes another. In his position, I'd be mortified over the first error and just avoid the second as common sense.
Oh and speaking of rudeness...who, exactly, are you to be coming to me with this? From what I can see, it's A or B. A: Someone who forgot to log in. (ooh "tired" or hurried. You have stuff in common with Cyber already!) B: a person who did not register—commonly called a "GIPU"—and yet wants to tell a registered user about Wikipedia policy. No offense, but do you have any idea how insulting that is? You either didn't think I was important enough to log in for—he don't know me very well, do he, folks?—or want to pull a "I know better even though I couldn't possibly have any idea" move.
Feh. I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what. I'll be a perfect angel when you register/login permanently. How's that? ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 19:43, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Attn ACS

I thank you for not erasing info I left on The Blue Devil section, but you didn't need to lash out with the "How hard is it to write this stuff properly?". You could have had a talk with me about it in discussion of the article. I'm no expert on the entire Wikipedia rules, but I'm sure being a long time wikipedian doesn't entitle to you snapping at someone because they make a simple mistake. So, why do you expect everyone and thing to be perfect? Try helping, not hurting.

User:71.115.210.70

You're serious? Okay, look, if I wanted to lash out, I would have given you an eye-full at your talk page. The edit summary was just...writing how I feel. Comics are comics; JLU is no different. Also, everytime the information was added it looks sloppy. I couldn't unde understand what it meant the first time and had only a bit less trouble the second. Sectioning is one thing and very relative. I could understand that. However, when you put something in the wrong section and miswrite it, I can't tell if you're talking about an episode, action figure or anything else, for that matter. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 07:37, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
  • You seem to have ignored what I said earlier. Being an Ace Wikipedian doesn't always mean you're right. This may be a new and impossible concept, but you can actually write how you feel without putting someone down (Shocking isn't it). All you had in your first edit summary for the Blue Devil section was What?, so even the all mighty ACS isn't perfect.

Lightning edit

My apologees for editing the page on lightning, however, I truly did not intend it as vandalism. However, I probably should have stated my rationale in the edit summary. On a side note, by any chance do you know of any system that regards lightnig as a classical element? If so, it seems as though someone should mention it on either the article for lightning of the one for the Classical elements. 66.24.229.233 00:53, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Blur

I can see that one might disagree with my edits, but I don't see how you could reasonably consider them vandalism. Throwing out accusations like that is inconsistent with your profession of good faith, and makes me less inclined than I otherwise would be to consider your point of view.

However, I do have a suggestion for you. Since anyone who disagrees with you apparently is not only wrong but malicious, it is important that any Wikipedia article that uses the link Blur when referring to a band must be changed. We cannot allow these biased and incorrect links to remain! If you go to Special:Whatlinkshere/Blur you will find that there are somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 articles linking to "Blur" and that the vast majority of them are maliciously referring to a band. You therefore really ought to get started right away on fixing all these links to remove the bias and direct them to the appropriate article. --Russ Blau (talk) 17:37, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Arkham Asylum

A lot of pages here use trivia. I did not know how to label the info. Maybe my mistakles is because english is not my primary language. Still, you erased all the info, that could be useful for people who are interested in the novel. I´ll try to write it better.

I will. Thank you very much.

WikiProject South Park

I have thought of creating a WikiProject for South Park since it is now near its' 10th anniversary and has more articles than ever. I feel we could all do the following things through this project:

  • Cleanup any short/poorly written/unformatted articles
  • Merge/lengthen the many character articles
  • Improve the South Park main page

I have seen your South Park fan template and wondered if you were interested in joining. If so reply to my talk page and I'll get back to you as quick as I can. Thanks, Mr. Garrison

Fictional Americans in DC

Not "just removing." Changing. Fictional Americans is sufficient when the character is already otherwise classified as a DC character. And a lot of those characters have never been confirmed as American, even if they are operating in America. Anyway, this is just an answer to your question. The change bugged someone else too, so I'll leave it alone. (As for how we do things in Wikipedia, hey, the guidelines say to be bold. Of course, then if the consensus doesn't favor the bold move, be grown up enough to let it go.) Doczilla 18:24, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

I know we've tlaked before about this, but you're kinda biting the newbs again over at the Spider-man 3 page. I know the guy asked sloppily, and so on, but don't drag it down to a forum level by replying. Just tell him that wiki's not a crystal ball, but he's welcome to help research SM4 when SM3 hits the screens, cause that's when the rumors will hit, I think. (and we could use a few more interested, conversational editors on that page to help fight off the numerous vandals and rumormongers). Keep up the good and let the newbies breathe... ThuranX 03:46, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

"I know the guy ask sloppily"?? What does that mean? Is Wikipedia for everyone, or just elitists? Anyway, like I told ThuranX, I agree to lay down arms, but I'm not deleting my posts. What I said wasn't as much an attack as it was a defense against your blatant sarcasm. ThuranX says you're a cool guy. I'm willing to believe that. Chris, I was serious about the medication. Anyway, thanks for using my talk page for this guys. (THAT'S sarcasm.) Seriously, though, I wasn't being sarcastic or even a mild dick, Rey. I just made a short—possibly unclear—comment like Chris would recommend. Then I get all this flack for stuff other users said/did to you, Rey? Not cool. (BTW, since I wasn't in this conversation—despite it being my TP—I'm excluded from Chris' "uncool" statement. I guess you losers are lucky to know me. (Irony/Kidding on the last statement.) But whatever, I don't hold grudges over this kinda stuff. I ain't mad at ya. Rey's not a "newb" though, X. Look at his contributions. I admit, I give off this "air of experience", as Clark Kent would say, but I often find my "equals" and "lessers" still have many months to a year on me. The only newbs I know are people I've taken directly under my wing or stopped from vandalizing articles. Still, that doesn't matter. I wasn't talking to him as a newb or a pro, just someone who asked a weird question on an encyclopedia site. I honestly didn't care about policy. I just saw it as an honest mistake and tried to handle it nicely. I'll try to work on my approach. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 05:59, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Stop riding me

Listen, Quinn. I don't know what I've done to be singled out by you, and I don't care either. But, you've got to have more interesting things to do then ride me across pages I've worked on.

Regarding my trivia on Episode 2 of Heroes, you must have missed the irony bus when you told me to "stop insulting readers intelligence" but then make sure to insult me on my Talk page.

Get a life, get a hobby not revolving criticizing my additions/deletions, and for Pete's sake lose the Holier-than-Thou attitude just because you've been on wikipedia longer.

Furthermore, the Spaz comment I left in response to you was on my Talk page (which I have since removed) please don't sully the discussion pages with insults, and "in the future, please make constructive edits rather than damaging the hard work of others." ---DJ Chair 17:19, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Heroes

Hey there. Hum... I was just unsure as to why you deleted my addition to the Heroes article. I added an IMPORTANT (well, seems to me that it will be very important anyway) element to the story at the main topic page, and you reverted it without any modification or comment. I just wondering why? I mean... it seems that the page was not blocked from editing for registered users, just to unregistered users. Also, I am aware that I have had no prior contributions, but that is because I did not feel there was anything I needed or could contribute to any articles prior to today. Just wondering if you could explain that to me, or alow me to re-add that information. Seems like you just want to keep the page to yourself. Sorry if that is not the case and I seem to be just judging without knowing better.

Thanks for reading.

Logan Pendragon

Hey there. Thanks for the reply and about being nice about how you did it. I'm a bit ashamed now, to perhaps let off more steam (though I hope not too much) than I should of over the topic. I'm replying right after getting your message, so I am thinking about what you said as I write.

I believe I see your point when it comes to the fact that this is an enciclopedia and thus, presents facts and not speculations. However, I believe that this does not have to be true for wikipedia. The show is in constant evolution as is the website. Therefore certain factitious speculations (n this case, just observations) should be availible to people. This is because this information is truely availible in a visible sense for people to access and begin speculation for themselves. More than this, if (in the particular case) that symbol is actually something that exists in the "real world" and has meaning in it, the availibility of this information online as a factitious piece, allows for users who come here seeking information and who might have some knowledge of some aspect of the availible information to then add it, making it less guesstimation work and more fact (even before actual development of the show).

These are however just my thoughts. I will try and become a more active participant here, and thus learn the ropes beter. I'll trust you to guide me through it in any site where you are coordinating. Seems like you have an interest in comics and movies - I can understand the passion.

Anyway. Thanks for reading what I have to say. Overall, I'd say you should reconsider and repost that information.

Laters bub.

A few bits of unsolicited advice

Copied from User_talk:Urek#Your_edit_to_.22Heroes.22

Hello. Your edit to Heroes (TV series) was deemed inappropriate. Please note that the fictional character DL Hawkins has been indicated in press releases and during the actual program. He is to appear in episode five and all information about him is true. Please be more thoughtful when editting. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 20:42, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

End copied section.

I'd suggest that, in light of the nature of the information removed, your response could use a little more polish. The continuing good of the encyclopoedia requires a friendly, open environment, and we all have a responsibility to maintain it.

Your initial edit summary on the reversion, Correcting per TVguide and other facts. Yes, I'm gonna rip Urek a new one, was far stronger than it needed to be. I'd urge you to comment on the contribution, not the contributor.

Also, it is almost always best to discuss article edits on the article talk page. If someone makes a series of edits across several pages, for example, it might then be appropiate to raise it on the user talk page. But that was not the case here.

Finally, there are a few small issues with the message itself. This is a very new user, and I usually cut new people some slack. New people also can be totally put off my a phrase like "was deemed inappropriate" since it doesn't spell out the it was just you who found it so. As opposed to some mysterious editing commitee that they don't know about.

Thanks for the time,
brenneman {L} 02:38, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Not to dogpile on you here, but I want to second what Brenneman is saying here. You are a colorful editor (and there's nothing wrong with that), just be aware that your responses may be received differently than you intend and that a harsh response can go a long way towards counteracting the whole purpose of wikipedia. I've been noticing that you sometimes skirt the lines of WP:BITE, WP:PA, WP:CIV, and WP:AGF (especially when dealing with an anon or GIPU as you call them) from time to time. Just taking a look over your talk page, I also can't help but noticing how many strong reactions you elicit from fellow editors. That might be a sign. Remember that there is a difference between having a colorful personality and just being rude.
As a newer user myself, I started out editing as an anon just to kick the tires (I had my own reasons for not signing up, but it wasn't to avoid editing accountability). In contrast with Wikipedia's goal of building a better encyclopedia, the response that I got from some editors seemed very rude and elitist. Obviously I did end up deciding to register, and I don't post anonymously anymore, but I very nearly decided that editing wasn't for me because of peer responses. Instead, I've spent three months lurking around to get the handle on posting, precisely so that I wouldn't end up dealing with an abrasive peer. Sure, it probably means that my contributions are less likely to need cleanup from more seasoned editors, but it is counter-productive from our collective goal and makes me less willing to just be bold. I would also say that I am the exception to the rule — for every one of me there are nine other people who just decide not to contribute instead. Even though it is encouraged for people to register, Wikipeda is not better off without anon contributions and everybody starts out as a newbie at some point.
Thanks for listening. SuperJerms 01:26, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Batman Begins

Reason why I put it in was because I noticed that the criticism is a small stub when it used to have a significantly substantial section. (A while back, there was criticism on cinetography, manner of presentation, etc. and I wonder why that was all removed.) Its not perfect in its initial form but as it the criticism section stands, it makes it look like it is ridiculing those that find fault with the movie. GoldDragon 03:48, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

S-CRY-Ed Article

Why are you deleting that entire section on the evolution of Kazuma/Ryuho's Alters? It could use some rewriting, but the information it contains should definately be noted. -- The Norse 21:30, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for replying so colorfully to this, you're a real cut-up, y'know! The section deleted wasn't mine, it's just been there almost as far back as the article's creation and I was readding it, so there was no need to call my views and perceptions worthless and not notable. All it needed was a rewrite to make it sound like less of a personal view. As such, I still stand against the section's removal and that asinine OR rule because all information is "original research". If that section's information were published by some magazine, would it be anymore credible or valuable? No, it wouldn't. When a stale and convoluted policy asks for the removal of 1/5th of an article it's doing nothing but detracting from the site. Sorry if this sounded like a rant. -- The Norse 22:50, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Heroes, 9 Oct.

Is there a reason you reverted out my edit? If you'er watching the episode, you as well as I saw him force the cop's hand, and fly. I was deliberately accurate to the scene and did not guess whether it was telekinesis or controlling her body, just the facts as seen. ThuranX 01:49, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Because the other guy's nuts. Sylar's power is almost certainly highly mastered telekinesis, allowing for hm to slow molecules for freezing, make hiself bulletproof, or heal himself, or simply not get hit as depicted, and finally to fly. However, until that's established in continuity, merely listing his demonstrated powers is enough. ThuranX 02:00, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Gwen Stacy

It's been discussed at the comics project talk page (and the category page for Ultimate Marvel) as well. The Ultimate Marvel category isn't for everyone that has appeared in Ultimate Marvel, just the people that are Ultimate exclusive, since there is a list of Ultimate characters. So my edit was just fine, and I'm changing it back. I think next time you should read what the category says before just reverting just because I had no edit history. Civility A

Your comment [1] is hostile and fails to assume good faith on my part. Worse, you've gone ahead and reversed my work without consulting with me first. Now, I'll have to do it over.

I'm in the middle of major work on gallery policy; it's for your benefit. Wait and see what you get before jumping to conclusions. Thank you. John Reid 21:08, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Relax. Now.

Will you please relax and stop jumping all over new editors with warnings about their edits being "inappropriate"? You really need to take a time out and read up on assuming good faith and biting newbies. While your at it, consider that maybe you aren't as smart as you think you are. Take the time to consider that others may have an interesting perspective. Elliskev 03:02, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Ace, I'm gonna have to agree here. I saw this, and jumped through a few of your recent contributions. While I appreciate your work here, on many pages we edit in common, I've also noticed that you're getting very blunt and rude with people. I used to enjoy your straightforward talk, but it seems like you're experiencing a build-up of frustrations with the true pinheads, nitwits and idiots who vandalize wikipedia. Unfortunately, it looks like your retribution's cast with a wider net, which is catching some innocent newbs and some experienced editors who don't approach wikipedia like you do. I know I've talked to you about this before, and you've said you're fine. You're not fine, man. You're really being aggressive to some editors who ARE trying to help. It's hard to tell sometimes, but try to look at their contributions list or their talk pages to see what they've already done before reverting and making the comments that people take offense to. I've been guilty of it too, but I've been working on chilling, and reserving my ire for genuine ree-rees. I don't know how you'll take this, but I hope you take it as advice from someone who actually likes 90% of what I see you doing here, it's jsut this 10% that I hope to see change.ThuranX 03:19, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
People shouldn't take offense. When I started out, I knew just how little I counted and cherished not being reverted. I never editted as a GIPU. The first time an edit of mine was reverted, I made a calm, reasonable comment on the article's talk page. The guy made a mistake! He still believed he was largely right, but met me halfway. When myself or my edits are questioned, I take it, let it go or respond redirectly. I've taken offense and gotten personal, but only brought in a third party as a last resort. You notice I'm getting more responses from people I never talked to before? I don't know if they're watching me, the article, the other user, some combination or what, but it's annoying. If I offended someone, I'd like them to tell me. I don't want someone else, asked or butting in, to speak for them. Who says I'm wrong? Who asked them? What? I can't revert? I can say "this is inappropriate/vandalism/etc."? What can I do, then? Am I suypposed to ignore it? Revert without comment, never bringing their mistakes to their attention in upfront fashion? Make a comment on the talk page when this is a user issue? What? What do you people want? I'm a volunteer, too. I'm not a bully or ill-intentioned. I can be nice. I have been nice. Do I say, "you suck! Quit editting! STFU, newb!"? What have I done wrong?! Ace Class Shadow; User talk:Ace Class Shadow. 03:36, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
YOu can revert, you can edit, and you can bring up issues with edits on talk pages and user pages. But for example, shouting 'what the FUCK?' in your edit summary on Heroes??? that's just vulgarity for the sake of shock value and temper. Ace, I'm not asking you to leave wiki or anything ridiculous like that. Let me try putting it this way. Remember your early work on wiki, and think about the first few editors who talked nicely to you and guided you. Try to approach others in the same manner, and see if things work smoother more often. (and a final note, good work on that TDK casting section.) ThuranX 03:42, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
As far as I can see, you ain't dun notin, Ace. Deez foos just don't get ya.
ACE> You're hitting the nail's head. I've gone through your edits and you are a good contributer. You make a lot of good edits (and some bad). What you need to control is your tendency to conclude that your edits are superior to others. Keep your summaries to the content. You too often editorialize on the editor. If you feel that a previous edit was better, say so -->rv to previous ver. more encylclopedic. Something like that. If you want to make a comment to the prev. editor, make it constructive like Hey, I reverted your edit because I think that you were overly speculative. If you have any questions or want some advice, let me know! <SMILE>
Just stop being so combative. You're going to get yourself into a pile. And, I have NO PROBLEM throwing jackassy newbie-biters into a pile. :) Elliskev 03:53, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Wow. First off, thank you, X. Still, Wikipedia is uncensored. I'll try to tone it done like I usually would, but the vulgarity is not for shock value. Oh and don't thank because I'm in a tight spot. We both know my best edits get me thanks quickly and for the right reason.
GIPU, thanks and stay in school.
Mister Polite coming at me with some honesty and little insult. I'm impressed. Although, the pile stuff—whatever it means—seems really gay, just so we're clear.
Don't insult me here, Ace. I made my first reply, and worked up my watchlist. the TDK edits were done, i went on... when I refreshed it, i saw you'd replied. I got it all at once. It wasn't because you're "in a tight spot", its' cause they were good, and I'm lazy. ThuranX 05:45, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Aww gees. Sorry. Ace Class Shadow; User talk:Ace Class Shadow. 06:08, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't bite newbs, especially not by intent. I've made an effort to make my comments more about edits than the user. Still, if my comments make a GIPU or new Wikipedian think "Oh, gees. I messed up. Okay." I think I'm helping, Tell me, what, exactly, brought this on? Were you asked to contact me? Did you just think "Oh, heavens! This jackass—his words, folks, not mine—needs to be taught a lessen...possibly with piling!" Seriously, what "bad" are you referring to? I don't go out and comment on a user page with the intention of "biting" or being combatantive, but I'm not going to put on an act like you, either. Tell me, if I only made the kind of comments you seem to find objectionable with senior users, would you even have a problem? If not, take a good look at yourself. That's a far worse hypocrisy than not being polite when you tell others too. I see now what the real problem is. I treat new users the same way I treat old ones, right or wrong. That's not newbie biting. It's more...equality. And if you don't like it, tell someone. Please, by all means, "pile" me or whatever. I'm obviously a repeat offend and I'd rather just get this over with. Ace Class Shadow; User talk:Ace Class Shadow. 04:40, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi,

Your move was probably the correct one, and I have expressed support for it in the de facto "poll" that has sprung up, and protected the redirect, too. Your edit summary, though ("Obvious. If you can't see a problem, I'd recommend a mental examination"), was not helpful. Normally, I wouldn't even issue a warning for this, but it seems you've had trouble with civility before. Please be very careful to use dispassionate language. It appears you are treading close to a block, which I'd hate to see, given that the offending conduct is so easy to cease. Lists of superheroines, male superheroes

Those lists need some serious cleanup. I see that you've done some work on them. I found some pranks on the male page. My personal feeling is that every character should either (a) be linked to a Wikipedia article that names them or (b) be linked to an outside source that confirms they're "real" until they can be appropriately described in Wikipedia. I think all other characters should be deleted, but that's quite a task. You're more familiar with those lists than I am. Do you think this one's worth mentioning at the WikiProject Comics talk page? They're laughing AT you, not with you.
I was laughing AT YOU, GIPU. ThuranX 22:28, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
What??? DID YOU CALL ME A GIPU!!!?? A NERD INSULT!!?!?!?! OH NOEZ!
Thank you for comfirming that although two IP addresses were used, it is the work of one editor. This can now be used to block both IP addresses through the Admin process ACS has initiated. ThuranX 23:17, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

My edit to WP:RPP

That's what I call "a screw up." My apologies. I'll try again. Nandesuka 00:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Grant Curtis

Grant Curtis is one of the producers for Spider-Man 3. He may not have his own article (it does happen on Wikipedia, you know), but the edit was appropriate. Hard to believe he wasn't added sooner, since he's been the one updating the official movie blog. Did you have to go and rip into the poor GIPU on his/her talk page? --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 20:56, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

I wouldn't say "Rip". I never referred to it as vandalism, for one. And I agree, from what you say, he should have been added sooner. I was unsure, but acted accordingly. Revert my edit, if you haven't already and I'll admit my mistake to the unregistered user. Gees. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 21:00, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Swell. :) --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 21:14, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Blocked for personal attacks for 48 hours - second block

You have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for repeated vandalism. If or when the block expires, feel free to come back, but please make useful contributions instead, and refrain from vandalising or this account will face longer blocks, and action could be taken against the individual who uses it. You have been warned repeatedly, and your actions have caused undue stress on other editors. --Chris Griswold () 01:48, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Seven Minutes to Midnight

You reverted my erasure of "The title is likely a reference to the Doomsday Clock" with the explanation "Dude, not everything is speculation". Don't the words "is likely" signify speculation (educated guess, whatever you want to call it)? I agree that that is an extremely likely interpretation, but shouldn't Wikipedia editors refrain from inserting their own interpretation of what a title refers to, however likely that interpretation is? Or was that interpretation based upon a reference not cited by the article? Primogen 20:18, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Right. It's a recreation of a previously deleted article with no new information, thus liable for speedy deletion. The appropriate tag is {{db-repost}}. I've placed it, and the article should be gone very soon. If it continues to be a problem, the page can be protected against re-creation. Probably (without looking at the history) it was probably just a good-faith edit by someone who thought he was making a new article. Herostratus 22:13, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

DVD commentary

The cite video template is a possible template to use, though it doesn't offer many attributes to detail that it's a featurette on a film's DVD. If you look at Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith#References (a Featured Article), the editors didn't really do anything fancy to cite the commentaries from the film's DVD. Wish I could do this myself, but I don't have the movie, and DVDs are notorious for lacking subtitles or captioning in their commentaries or featurettes (except for a rare few films). Let me know how it goes. --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 23:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

This was added to the Influences section: "Other scenes influenced by Year One includes Batman summoning bats to make his exit, and the denoument regarding the Joker." Was this mentioned in the featurette? I don't know if it was something you chose not to add, but I suppose I'm suspicious of it being original research, like the editor trying to make connections on his/her own. (Wish they had a transcript for "Genesis of the Bat" somewhere online, that'd be easier...) Let me know if this was mentioned or not; I don't really think it should be included if it wasn't explicitly mentioned in the featurette. --Erik (talk/contrib) @ 15:37, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Why would I omit anything? Wasn't this user the one who just said "other "influences" includes and the Joker"? Sounds like an asshat to me. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 17:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

What's the beef?

I'm not sure your recent comment on Chris Griswold's talk page will help the situation much, but I'm sure you meant it in the best possible way. However, you seem to have an issue with administrators in general, and I thought I'd ask what the problem was? You indicate that you see admins as being exceptions to the general rules. What has made you feel this way? Hiding Talk 00:22, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Don't take it personally, Hidey. And believe me, I have no "beef" with the administrative population at large. I get that I'm not at their level. Don't worry. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 00:29, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Your only real issue is civility. If you'd calm down a little and deal with people in a way that is not mocking or dismissive, I don't see why you couldn't be an administrator. --Chris Griswold () 00:41, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm not taking it personally. I'd just like to understand what you mean, because it comes across as being made in bad faith if it isn't justified. I do worry, I'm afraid. You seem to have some sort of issues with Wikipedia, which is a shame because you could be a great contributor, but you may end up being banned because of your attitude. Hiding Talk 00:45, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm getting mixed signals. I could be an admin or get blocked? Some crossroads. How 'bout neither? If I'm ever admin material, I'd recommend revising the qualifications. And as for blocking, well, I guess if a person can get blovked for an edit summary that simply consisted of "idiot", the blocking policy might need revision, too. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 01:17, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I'd settle for neither, if you'd stop being abrasive in edit summaries and on talk pages. Any chance you'd consider that, or does the policy on civility not apply to you? Hiding Talk 01:25, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
It has to apply to me. I'm but a lowly Wikipedian. Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 01:28, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Sigh. I'll see you around Ace. And as another lowly Wikipedian I apologise for anything I've said or done that you have found incivil. Hiding Talk 01:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry

Sorry for mucking about and vandilasing in the Heroes guide. I can asure you that it will not happen again! Aussie-Alex 07:01, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Please do not remove maintenance notices from pages unless the required changes have been made. If you are uncertain whether the page requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the page's talk page before removing the notice from the page. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of a page. Thank you.

Could I suggest that mundane editorial disagreements are most likely to resolve quickly and productively when editors observe the following:

  • Remain polite per WP:Civility.
  • Solicit feedback and ask questions. This can be done without any formal procedure on article and user talk pages. For instance, "One question: why didn't you move the article to Siege of Orleans? That is certainly the more appropriate name. So, before I move it, I thought I would ask if there was some reason for your not having moved it already."
  • Keep the discussion focused. Concentrate on a small set of related matters and resolve them to the satisfaction of all parties. Afterward open unrelated issues as a separate discussion.
  • Use bullet points to organize a discussion that includes several matters.
  • Focus on the subject rather than on the personalities of the editors.

Thanks! Please do not be issuing ultimatums or threats towards other editors. Thanks. --Madchester 05:12, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Ok, you was right and I kind of overreacted, but still, his stubborness is driving me crazy, sorry...
Anyway, I´m not into threats. If he is so sure he is right, why not call the administrators, show his case and win a fair victory? THAT really made me angry, and I threw a dare. And then he threated me again with the 3 reverse rule, that he also is guilty, so...
P.S.: About the democracy issue, you was right again, but still I posted a counter argument there. Feel free to reply por talk in private with me is you want to... DinobotTM2 03:24, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Response

Hi, I just read your message, and I wanted to clear my name real quick. I'm not sure if what I did should be considered vandalism--all I did was fix the picture, which was sorta messed up. If it's on the right, right under the other, it leaves a big empty space if you Hide Contents (which I always do). It looked bad so I fixed it. - Tai112 11/09/06
