Overall, you did a good job editing this article. The added information under the background section was needed and really helps to provide more detail about the feedback system. The mechanism section is well written but as you already noted, needs citations. The modulation section is a little hard to follow, specifically, within the first two parts, saying a mediating agent being released as a function of changes in luminal NaCl and then a modulating agent exerts its affects without input from the luminal NaCl. Maybe just reword and expand a little more to add more clarity. A few other small edits:
- Maybe reword the second sentence in the intro to make it read easier.
- In the sentence: The kidney also participates in blood pressure regulation and the maintenance... I think get ride of ; and make it into two different sentences.
- Do you mean fluid flowing, not flow, in the second paragraph in the background
- In the sentence: Thus, the TAL... it seems repetitive, maybe just say its transport properties allow it to act.. instead of saying it is an important segment and acts as a key operator
- TGF can stabilize (no s) in last sentence of background
- I think a citation may be needed at the end of the background section
- In the third paragraph of the mechanism section, it may read better as .. in the tubular lumen, leads to a... GFR, which is based...
- I like the quote you added in the mechanism section but it may help to shorten it and put it in your own words.
