Ann Dunham

[edit]

Hi. I've removed the links you added to Obama's quote on Ann Dunham. You may want to review Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Linking and WP:LINKSTYLE. We generally avoid changing quotes by adding links. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Viriditas (talk) 00:10, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Clare Daly

[edit]

I reverted your edits which labeled Clare Daly an atheist per BLP guidelines. The source you attributed the claim to did not appear to verify the claim. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion. Thanks. ChakaKongtalk 14:20, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. I actually wasn't the one who cited the source. The statement and source were already there, I just added the category to increase the article's connectivity and reflect what I thought was accuracy. But, nonetheless, my mistake. Adam9389 (talk) 09:37, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I realize the original claim was already there and added by someone else, but the source actually makes no mention of Daly identifying as an atheist. It's a good idea to verify such claims before adding a new category that may be viewed as contentious. ChakaKongtalk 17:44, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Constitutionality subsection of Federal Reserve Note article

[edit]

Greetings, Adam9389 -- you are cordially invited to an edit-war I'm hosting.  :-)   Since you recently edited that subsection, I thought I'd drop you a note about some changes I'm planning. Here are my additions to the talk-page of the article: #1 Ron Paul, #2 McCulloch. See also #3 RBBrittain, the other wiki-editor I invited over. Thanks. p.s. If this request is annoying, please accept my apologies, or if you are too busy, no problem. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 02:36, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invite, but I don't do edit wars. --Adam9389 (talk) 19:34, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I agree, me neither. Tongue was firmly in cheek, but sometimes tone is hard to convey via the internet. Anyways, the other person (who put some strict instructions in a hidden-html-comment telling me not to add cite-needed tags to his paragraph) has not responded to either my addition of cite-needed tags, or my invite, so my proposed 'edit-war' has turned out to be just myself.  :-) I'll go ahead and make my proposed changes in the main article, and see if anybody responds to those; you are welcome to do so, of course, if you feel like it. Thanks for your time. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 15:26, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Alasdair MacIntyre may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • traditions and the different ways they can split apart, integrate, or defeat one another (e.g. [[Aristotelianism|Aristotelian, [[Augustine of Hippo|Augustinian]], [[Thomism|Thomist]], [[David Hume|

Libertarianism increasingly viewed as a free market ideology

[edit]

Adam9389, thank you for modifying the "Etymology" section to fix the citation problem with the claim that libertarianism is increasingly viewed as a free-market ideology. I have a couple of comments on the change made:

  1. I don't see why we need sourcing, let alone multiple sources, for the fact that free-market libertarianism has propagated beyond the USA's borders;
  2. the sources don't say anything like "libertarianism is increasingly viewed as a free-market ideology."

I've removed all four sources used to support this sentence for these two reasons. If you feel that we need citations for the claim that capitalist libertarianism has spread beyond the USA, feel free to add them back, but I hope you won't add back the two sources for the second claim; we need a new source, one which actually supports this claim. Thank you! -- MisterDub (talk | contribs) 20:42, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MisterDub. The sentiment that capitalist libertarianism exists almost at all outside the U.S. has been a contentious issue in the past on the Libertarianism talk page -- I don't know why. Perhaps that's changed, but I just figured two sources were better than one. I mean, ultimately everything on Wikipedia needs citations anyway and it's not like the use of multiple sources is a rarity. I've re-read all four sources (one now being dead evidently) and you're absolutely right about the latter two. I'll search for something better. But, for reasons stated, I would like to re-insert the first two sources regarding the spread, if you'll agree to it. But I'll take no action until you respond/verify. --Adam9389 (talk) 05:06, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's fine by me. Thank you! -- MisterDub (talk | contribs) 17:02, 18 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:58, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge
