Hello Hello Hello! Welcome to our chat page. Remember, this page is on wikipedia, so it is visible to all, but it's not obvious to all, so it does give us an element of privacy. I created this talk page, if you would like to ask me any questions or if I want to ask you something. Put this in your watch list, so you will see if there's anything new.

I think I have email enabled, but if I don't and you need to use it, here it is: adam.mugliston5498@yahoo.co.uk . If I don't know the answer, I will tell you - if I think you are doing something wrong, I will tell you. You currently have a full supply of AGF from me, but depending on your actions this may not last long. As far as I see, you have been doing well, so don't worry.

Questions from Joyce to Adam[edit]

How do you make the little ^ mark appear as a link?

blah blah[1] blah blah[1]

  1. ^ a b Duplicate

For every reference that you make, do you need to put in the <references/> code?

JoyceK1988 (talk) 07:59, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The little mark will only appear as a link if the reference is also used once, you can't make it a link. Yes, you have to use the tag all the time, the only way to speed it up is to use <ref name="name here">link here</ref> the first time round and from then on use the <ref name="name here"/>.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  12:35, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'm kinda ready to move on to the next lesson now. JoyceK1988 (talk) 02:33, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, next lesson is up. Tell me when you're ready for the test.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  15:05, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Are all mainstream news considered reliable sources? I'm asking because in some local context, I'm afraid we won't be able to find any articles from global news space like Reuters or Bloomberg. I'm guesssing that it is okay, but I just want to be sure. JoyceK1988 (talk) 08:12, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, newspapers are virtually always reliable sources, however there maybe some exceptions, but these aren't predictable and are unlikely.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  15:01, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
How is the test format like? Just want to make sure I'm prepared for it. JoyceK1988 (talk) 02:40, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This time it is 9 question which simply need an extended answer. There is no practical part to this test.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  15:05, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be ready for the test in 2 days. Also, I have also drafted up a wiki article for Dutch Lady. Was wondering if it is possible for you to take a look at it and give me your feedback? If that's fine, I'll put it up on my sandbox. :) JoyceK1988 (talk) 17:00, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely, of course I will check your work. That's what I'm here for!  Adam Mugliston  Talk  19:38, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've already put it in my sandbox. Do take a look at it and let me know where I can improve. I'm ready for the test now! JoyceK1988 (talk) 07:36, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's generally quite good, but: 1. Scrap the Overview title, leave it as a sort of introduction. 2. You need to write the citations properly, I myself am not great at it, but I'll find out and tell you soon (within the hour) or at least get you a link. 3. I think the products section is too long and needs to be generalised, as it could be a bit not NPOV. Otherwise, it's good.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  11:02, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, are you ready for the test on Lesson 2?  Adam Mugliston  Talk  11:04, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback! Will look into making changes for the article. As for the test, yes I'm ready. But do I need to do it within the specific time? I'll be available to do the test at Sunday at 3pm (GMT+8) or Monday same time. JoyceK1988 (talk) 11:33, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, no time limit. I'll put the test up soon.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  11:50, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Let me know when the test is up. The article that I put up was rejected. It says that it sounded too much like an advertisement. I need it to have more details so I can revise it accordingly. Example: What words shouldn't be used, or what kind of sentence structure is more acceptable. Would appreciate your input in this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Dutch_Lady_Milk_Industries_Berhad JoyceK1988 (talk) 06:37, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Test is up, I'll have a look at the article in about 2-3 hours, when I'm less busy.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  08:20, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, well, I can see why some people might worry about Neutral Point of View. You really need to shorten the products list (although thats compromising, it was suggested you do not have that section at all) and write encyclopaedic description of each group of products. Also, the awards need to be shortened to only the ones you have a reference next to. For references use the cite web template. See here: Template:Cite web, I think that will help and will make the article look better.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  15:42, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I'll see how I can edit the article better. Thanks. I also noticed my AGF dropped 5%? Do let me know what I'm doing wrong if needed cos I do fully intend to adhere to the rules of wiki. :)JoyceK1988 (talk) 08:53, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's the NPOV problems. I was worried that since you were writing about your company, it's natural you want to write everything good about it and sort of promote it, that's why, we on Wikipedia, recommend you do not write about yourself, your company, your family and anything that links you to it in any other way, except for a simple interest in the subject.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  17:04, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, naturally so. However, I am very aware of the fact that this is not an advertising platform. I intend to get your input, as a third party on the article, in order to make it as informative and neutral as possible. You have my cooperation on this. My test is almost done. I'm still mulling over one of the questions. I'll let you know when I've filled that in. JoyceK1988 (talk) 07:46, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I'm on holiday right now, with little or no internet access, but I'll still try and get your test marked if and when I get a chance.  Adam Mugliston  Talk  16:40, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I've already shorten the product sections of my article, and also edited my referencing and citations. Do take a look at it and let me know if you have any feedback on how to make it better in terms of NPOV. Thanks. JoyceK1988 (talk) 04:39, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, still on holiday? Just wondering if there were any updates on your end regarding the test? My article has also been approved, but I'm looking to edit it to include more info in the future. Just want to say thanks for all your help! I still want to graduate from your adoption program though. :D JoyceK1988 (talk) 04:30, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
