Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Adamgaynor. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Adam Gaynor, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Panian513 01:29, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Panian513. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Adam Gaynor, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Panian513 01:29, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Pan,
To be honest, I have never really been sure how to use this site. "I" am actually Adam Gaynor.
But I know, in your world, it's hard to tell or prove.
Obviously I am logged into my account....but would you mind helping me understand what I need to do to announce my new project?
And am I allowed to delete my participation in Artists against Racism?
(Even though of COURSE< I believe in that!)
= ))
And PS: You guys are SO quick! I posted that like 19 seconds ago!
ahhhh!

Thank you for your response!
First off, in regards to declaring a conflict of interest (known as a COI), here's a handy guide. In summary, a good way to declare a conflict of interest is to add a template to one's user page, looking like the template below. It's important to keep in mind that, in regards to COIs, they do not mean that one's contributions are automatically meritless. It's just that Wikipedia is built on a lot of honor, so it's helpful to be open about it.

As for the announcing of the new project, there's several factors at play. Added content on Wikipedia should be backed up by a reliable source, and this is especially important on biographies of living people (BLP), due to the potential for libel. Here's a handy guide for citing sources. I hope that this will be of use! Panian513 01:49, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
