Adam Morris (The General E)[edit]

Hi. Could you explain why the page relating to Adam Morris (The General E) has been deleted. As far as I can tell, the criteria was related to a being a musician, and he is not, instead being a DJ on a radio station in London. Cheers. Adamiow 18:00, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. It's not just notability. The article wasn't encyclopedic. It read like a piece from a directory or a fan site. If you started again on a temporary page in your userspace and made it read like an encyclopedia article, with references, you may well be able to persuade people that we should have an article on him. --kingboyk 18:04, 14 April 2007 (UTC) (some of the links in the message above may help)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:AdamMorris.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AdamMorris.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:17, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. wangi 19:17, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have tagged the above named image. I am unsure how to tag it. I have obtained the image from the subject, with their permission and it is their picture. What tag do I use? Thanks. Adamiow 21:54, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It all depends really. Was the release with the understanding the photo would be used on Wikipedia only and for no commercial use. Or was it a complete release (to a free licence), allowing other site to use the image as well? Such a low-resolution photo has limited use, can you get a higher-res version? Thanks/wangi 22:01, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It was just for Wikipedia use. Unfortunately, no other version is available. Any ideas? Cheers. Adamiow 22:23, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately we cannot accept images that are for "Wikipedia only". We need to get an image under a free licence (see WP:IUP). In the past editors would have agrued "fair use" of a non-free image, but that's no longer the case (since there's no reason why anyone with a camera cannot take a free-licence photo). Thanks/wangi 22:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have just remembered that the that the image has been used elsewhere, other than just for Wikipedia, still not for commercial use. Sorry, I didn't have enough time to think about it last night. What tag should I use? Cheers. Adamiow 12:34, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but that doesn't make a difference - Wikipedia needs the "for commercial use" permission so we are free to use the image in derivatives. Surely, someone has a free image they have taken? Thanks/wangi 21:43, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very confused with all of this. My apologies, as I have struggled to understand this before. I have been given permission to use this photo in any way I wished. I have used this photo on here, as well as it being used on a website in reference to the person. As this gains money through ads, would this count as a commercial activity? If it does, then what tag shall I use? If not, I have another photo, which has been used as a publicity photo on a website for a radio station, which could be used, but I think this photo is more suited. Thanks. Adamiow 22:22, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Afraid I don't have the time just now to explain it fully, packing for a business trip to the States... I recommend you summarise this discussion (or just post a pointer to it) at Wikipedia:Village pump (assistance) and hopefully someone will help you out. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Core digital.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Core digital.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:21, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Galaxy South Coast Logo.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Galaxy South Coast Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

Three times now myself and another editor have removed this non-free media file from your development page. Per WP:NFCC #9, the use of non-free images are not permitted outside of the main article namespace, even on development articles. Please do not restore the image again. If you have questions about this, please ask. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 23:24, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I like it![edit]

I like the new list of past and present characters, its worked well! Well done, :) — M.Mario (T/C) 13:49, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think?[edit]

Hey, look no one really watches Doctors. At the moment, I have been trying to update the 2012 characters by the DS spoilers or the small clip on the BBC websites. It's not really working, you can see by the 2012 list Others section. Now, I am trying to split characters which have appeared in 3+ episodes into sections on the list, and I was thinking about deleting the Others table completley. Then we just have the main characters for the year, we dont have loads of empty boxes and no one needs to watch the episodes frequently. Instead of having the Others section, I am creating this here, which I think is a much better way of keeping up to date whether characters are returning, and it will have a list with all the characters on from all the years, the actors on, the dates, but just not the storylines. I think this is a better solution, and am happy to carry it on unless you or anyone says no. However, I may have to split the list into List of Doctors cast members (A-D), etc, if there are two many actors which have appeared on the show. — M.Mario (T/C) 19:47, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, I do actually watch the show when I can. Whilst the show's pages doesn't have that many active editors that work, it all seems to work ok. Secondly, I admire your efforts on trying to get all of the characters, but it seems like a huge job! Personally, I would concentrate on the big name guests and those in 1+ episodes. This would dramatically reduce the level of work. Whilst other soaps may cover all of the guests, due to the story of the day nature to Doctors, there are at least 2 new characters, each day, 200 days a year - that's a heck of a lot of characters! I think your list on your sandbox is rather complex and again, very time consuming. Overall, I think the best way forward is present characters on 1 page, split between regular and recurring, with a future and returning characters section. Secondly, a past list, again split between regular and recurring, and finally, the year pages for characters introduced in each year. It seems to work for the other soaps, so I can't see any reason to change. What do you think? Adamiow (talk) 12:24, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should not have the Others section on any of the articles, there are just too many, and not enough sources. For characters which appear more, we can make them a section on the list. I just think it will be a lot less time consuming and look neater if we do it this way. Second;y. the page is just a list of the cast members much like other soaps have, but a bit neater. Even though it is time consuming, Im very happy to continue with it. "Big name guests" is also a bit OR. The articles seem fine at the moment, I just think we should get rid of the Others, and put the major characters of 2012 in a section. Is that okay? — M.Mario (T/C) 15:55, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So that I can understand what you are proposing, how would you expect the 2012 to look after your revamp? On the big name guests, how do you think it is original research? Adamiow (talk) 16:08, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
User:M.Mario/sandbox:Doctors Draft. I have included all the characters which have appeared in 3+ episodes. I will also try to create sections for characters who have a massive impact on the main characters, such as family members. The list will look bigger, as there is bound to be more characters which have appeared in more than 3 episodes. I think this will not just be neater, but me much easier to update. For example, the storylines for Mandy, Joe and Howard need updating, which im sure you can do?? And, its OR as in your opinion one person might be a big guest star, where as others may think not. If they are that big of a guest star, there is bound to be a source on them, meaning they would be able to be put in the list. I hope you like it! — M.Mario (T/C) 15:13, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As long as they are still put on year pages, this looks fine. On the big names, I have not be clear. I really mean those that are sufficient enough stars to have their guest appearance announced in the show, such as Lisa Riley, so it is not original research and mainly from Digital Spy. I still believe a small Others section would be useful for these type of characters if there isn't enough to write a proper chunk for a section. I think we are nearly there on this - woohoo! The only thing left is to split regular and recurring characters on the present list - what do you think on this? Adamiow (talk) 16:00, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, did not reliaze you had replied. Would you be able to update the character page's storylines? Some characetrs are really behind, such as Freya, Mandy, Howard, Joe... Also, did you watch this episode [1]? Which one of the guest actors was Kevin Tyler's relative? Replying to your points, yes the lists would still be 2012, 2011, but on the Others section it would just be a redirect to the list of cast members. Yes, those which recieve development, such as quotes from the BBC should be put in a list. But even if some characters are reported to appear but in the source it just is a rehash of the storylines, then maybe not. Others section gone! I will work hard to try and get all the "main" characters a section. And no for the recurring and regular thing, there is just not enough characters appearing. — M.Mario (T/C) 16:17, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you have AWB right? Well it looks like Doctors (BBC soap opera) is another redirect to the article, so if you ever feel a bit bored, you know what you can do! — M.Mario (T/C) 18:38, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the delay in responding. Firstly, AWB all done. On the characters, I am happy to flesh out when I have time. I didn't see about Kevin Tyler's relative, but will look into it. On the Others, are you suggesting that they would like to the list of past characters? If so, that seems like a sensible approach and prevents duplication. On the recurring/regular, a small number isn't a reason not to do it - the cast itself is small, so naturally the number of recurring are going to be small. I strongly believe there should be a split and also that the past be put back in alphabetical too. Adamiow (talk) 13:57, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, quite a lot of the characters articles are out of storylines updates. There would be a link to the past list and to the cast members list as well. If your that strongly wanting a split, then I will agree with you. — M.Mario (T/C) 14:08, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Holby City Characters[edit]

With regards to this issue, I believe as the character in question is due to appear in the next televised episode hey should be added to the cast list. I recently did this for the character Guy Self the week before he appeared and no one had any issues. As a regular contributor to this page, I believe it should be this way but I take on board what you have said. Hi, I've also updated the article, and merged in the content from UTV Radio and UTV Internet to form sections in the main article. I've also retained the former operations in their own section. Cloudbound (talk) 20:46, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It was quite lengthy, but I have condensed it somewhat, and as it forms the majority of the group's operations it makes sense to have everything together. Apologies for over-writing some of your other edits. I will add them back in. Cloudbound (talk) 20:56, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 13[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Holby City characters, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Susan Brown. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Disambiguation link notification for May 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sunday Brunch, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages John Newman and John Robins (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

University Centre Isle of Wight[edit]

Hi there

I appreciate your edits listing the University Centre Isle of Wight in various lists and navboxes, but as there is no separate article for the University Centre Isle of Wight, it is inappropriate to list it as a redirect, particularly as its parent article (Isle of Wight College) is listed in the same articles. I would encourage you to create a new article for University Centre Isle of Wight if it is to be listed separately. Bleaney (talk) 22:30, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
