Province of New York

Why are you removing my edits to History of New York and marking them as vandalism? I think you are mistaken. BradMajors (talk) 18:10, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

You just removed a lot of the article. You did say "(→New Netherlands - content merged into New York article)" but i could not see any of it. All i saw was a big bit of the article missing. I have now had a look and it looks like you have now added your extra information as 1000 bytes + were added. Maybe next time do the changes in one big edit or make a notice saying that "you will finish the article shortly". I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Ah, the reflex deletionists ...

Evidently, Addshore is a fast-acting automatic deletionist, with little prompting or reason. Sigh. He/she/it just deleted the standard, canonical Leiston-accent greeting for no apparent reason. Wikipedia was more fun before this lot took over. With this current style of "hall monitor" behaviour, most Wikipedia articles could never been written in the first place. 66.93.216.22 (talk) 00:19, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

unconstructive edit to the John Hawkins article?

Can you please explain why having a "link" to afterdeck (poop) is preferable to having a link to afterdeck (poop) in the John Hawkins article? In my edit I left a comments that read "link to Poop deck article" which you apparently think was not informative enough. Red links to non-existent pages are things that some people are trying to lessen on Wikipedia. Why have you reverted a constructive contribution toward that goal? 164.55.254.106 (talk) 17:31, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I am very sorry. You can 100% blame me for that. I do alot of reverting from vandalism but i do make mistakes. I think the reason that i reverted this was because i saw "poop", also it was from an ip address not from a user account. This is also not the first time you have been warned but i will remove my warning to you also. Please consider creating an account.Addshore (talk) 17:36, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Not vandalism

I am not vandalising the pages I am editing, I am avoiding the redirect "...On the Radio (Remember the Days)" by making the links read "Shit on the Radio (Remember the Days)", the ACTUAL name of the song. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia for everyone to benefit from, those that try to mess that up will be blocked. Addshore (talk) 16:51, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Dearest Addshore...

Dearest Addshore, I am unsure as to what your motives for denying my annotations appear to be. I simply am attempting to educate the scholarly inquiring minds of the general populous of the factual nature of the cunning beast that is the Unicorn. If you are perhaps skeptical of my findings, I urge you, with the most sincerity, to study the works of renowned German Unicorn historian Johann von Schplinkterfaltzen. His famed documentation in The Unicorn that Totally Existed (1937. Vultinschroeder Press, Munich.) is an illuminating insight into the mind of the wonderous Unicorn, showing that they indeed walked among us. I am sure that as a fellow Unicorn scholar, you will indeed observe the merit of his writings and thus better appreciate my own. My most heartfelt apologies for not including the citation in my revision - for it was simply absent from my mind at the time.

Vandal?? I admit it

Damn, do you admins have an alerter? that was one fast edit. Anyway, not to split hairs, but my second Math edit wasn't vandalism.

My first edit to Mathematics ("Math sucks", positioned at the very beginning of the paragraph) WAS vandalism, as many people don't think it sucks and I do admit it was an unfounded argument.

My second edit to Mathematics ("Many people hate math", positioned at the END of the paragraph) was not vandalism but merely a stated opinion. Many people DO hate math. Not ALL, not MOST, just MANY. Many people LOVE math as well.

Therefore, I will continue to add "Many people hate math" to the end of the paragraph. Your efforts and everyone else's to remove it constitute vandalism, because all I am doing is stating an opinion that happens to be true.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 5150pacer (talkcontribs)

Hi there. Yes your first one was vandalism and im my eyes your second one was also vandalism. I asked another guy and he says he doesn't think that it is. I am sorry anout that revert then. I will also remove the warning i gave you for that edit. Also i suggest that you move the sentence into another section of the article where it fits in more rather than just at the bottom. Would you please kindly explain your reverting my edit without even bothering to give a reason. The edit took me a while. Firstly, there is the use of the second person pronoun in the second sentence which is not allowed. Secondly, there was a complete misuse of bold face throughout the article. Titles (including songs) are wrtitten in italics. Thirdly, the right to the Eurovision videos on YOuTube belong to the television comapanies they were recorded from and may not be directly linked to from Wikipedia. Mewthree

When a page is blanked it's usually vandalism and the right thing to do is revert it; but it's worth looking at the history first, because sometimes, as with Mewthree just now, the author has blanked his own page (in this case because I had given it a PROD and, I guess, he realised it was not a useful page). In that case the thing to do is to put a db-author tag on, which asks for a speedy G7 "author requests deletion or has blanked the page". Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:08, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. I am sorry for my error and yes normally pages that get blanked are usually vandalism. I am guessing that he himself did not add the db-author tag or i would not have reverted it. In future i will try to look more carefully at the article and try to stop this mistake happening again. Thanks for telling me my error as that is the only way i can fix / stop things like this from happening. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:14, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
No problem. I think he was a newbie - I doubt if he knew about subtleties like db-author. There can be problems when a user realises his page is a mistake, blanks it, and next thing an accusation of vandalism for blanking it crashes down on him and he finds it reverted. Hey, that talkback template is nifty! I haven't seen it before and could definitely use it. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:26, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Yep the talk back template is useful. As i don't know / can't find out who made the page now and who i therefor warned for the blanking is there any chance that if you know you can removing my warning on him? If you or he already hasn't. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:47, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
It was RoyousOccasion (talk · contribs), but it's OK - you didn't warn him. If you had, I would have explained to him, but it wasn't necessary. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 19:09, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

new entry in wikipedia

I saw a company, Accupax, in a magazine and as the son of a elder parent who takes medication, I feel AccuPax should have its own page to inform seniors of how it can help them and to explain and bring to light the issues in our country on non-compliance medication issues. I was just wondering if i could make a page on accupax that defines it, what it does, and the reasons for it, and how it can save lives... and maybe like a testimonial page for current accupax users.. or something like this—Preceding unsigned comment added by Agarrettis (talkcontribs)

Hi there Agarrettis. Firstly when you comment on a talk page can you please add ~~~~ after your message to sign your comment so that the reader knows who it is from. Regarding your article on Accupax. If you want to create this page then you can by going here and then adding what you think should be on the article in the box and saving your changes. This would be recreating a page that has been deleted once under the G:11 act of Blatant advertising. If you think that you can make the article without Blatant advertising and make it a good article then go ahead. If you need any help on the article just ask here. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:53, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

It's not unconstructive

It was vandalism. the edit summary was wrong. You need proof. I have hypertension(?) at this moment. And the vandalsim was coming from an IP address. Vandalism/ Dorothy Schiff

Hi!

I didn't intend to vandalize the page, I just put the article into the category which obviously fits best. She was the daughter of Jewish immigrants from Germany, so I put her into the the category Category:German-American Jews, a subcategory of Category:German-Americans. What was wrong with that?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.60.239.141 (talkcontribs)

Hi there. You have been making a lot of category edits recently. For example on Matt Schaub id 195107011 in your contribs. You changed to . Please could you not remove the category as it still fits. Maybe just add as well as the others. I have just seen that with the ones that i did revert i shouldn't have but i should have reverted the other ones. Please can you consider keeping the old category's as well as the ones you add. Also when you add a comment to a page please sign it by adding ~~~~ after your message.·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 13:11, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Hiya. I've removed your report of User:Drudgetwat - they've made one edit only, their first ever, which could be construed as a test, and have been given no warnings. Taking them to WP:AIV is therefore a bit harsh! GBT/C 13:58, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Reverting image

Hi! Firstly, I'd just like to warn you that I'm new to Wiki, and I'm pretty crap at editing, so the picture, which I reverted wasn't at all mine. But I think that it was constructive, as it is one with the correct line-up and I just don't think that we should have a picture with Mutya on, as she is no longer a Sugababe. Sorry, if I didn't explain this but I didn't know how to interact until you messaged me.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.240.167.162 (talkcontribs)

Thanks for coming and explaining this to me. I have removed your warning as i see that your edit was in good faith. The reason i reverted the edit was because of the name "Sugagbabes gay 2007 011.jpg". I know understand what that actually stands for and i will now try not to revert this type of edit again. If you need any more help just ask here. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 14:28, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Let's find a better picture.

It's ok. No harm, no foul. You seem to be a trusted Wikipedian, so if you could find a better picture than the one at G.A.Y, but with Amelle on, then that'd be great, because, on this one you can't see Heidi's face! I would do it myself, but I'm still learning, as you know!—Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.240.167.162 (talkcontribs)

Hi there. I am afraid that i keep reverting the colours as i believe that the ones you change them to are wrong. I am getting the colours from the original article which is here[2]. This is why i keep reverting your changes to this article. I believe that the user that created this article was correct. I am just about to do some extra research and if i find i am wrong then i am sorry. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 14:54, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
You are now blocked due to other vandalism. I now guess you were wrong bu i have not been able to obtain new information regarding the colours. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 15:09, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: Request for Username Usurp

In that case, would you be willing to make cross posts from both accounts to prove you own the account and add the link(s) to the request? Thank you! Icestorm815Talk 22:43, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure if it would since any ol' user could added the sig to the bottom of the request and say they own one of the accounts as well. Your best bet is to place a note on the bot account using the Addshore account saying something like "I own this account". Then log in as the shorebot and say, "Addshore owns this account". I'm sorry if this seems a bit tedious, it's jsut we have to make sure we don't make an incorrect name change. Cheers, Icestorm815Talk 22:49, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that! I'll add a note on the request page. Icestorm815Talk 22:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, the request can't be filled until March 8. However, you could still work on the code because once the username change is performed, all the user subpages (ie:userpage, talkpage, monobook, etc.) are transfered under the new name. Icestorm815Talk 22:56, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Yep, it will! :) Icestorm815Talk 22:59, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Suggestions for your User Page

Hello, and thank you for your welcome note. I have a few suggestions of text changes to your user page:

1. In the "Anti Vandalism" section, your sentence "I revert vandalism and many other things good", states that you revert vandalism and that you revert other things good. Do you mean to say that you revert both bad things (vandalism), and many other good things? If so, what do you revert the good things to? Or, if you mean the sentence to describe the manner in which you do your reverting, the proper sentence should read: "I revert vandalism and many other things well."

2. From the last sentence of your "Anti Vandalism" section, I was unable to locate and define the adverb "nicly". Did you mean to use "nicely"? A definition of "nicely" can be found from this link [3]. Hopefully, this information will help you make a decision as to which adverb you would like to use.

Thanks for your time; and don't worry -- I will sign my post with four Evenin' scrot! (talk) 18:15, 1 March 2008 (UTC). Evenin' scrot! (talk) 18:15, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

My User Page

Hi there,

In general, it is considered bad practise to edit another user's user page without their permission. Had I wanted my user page to be placed in a category, I would have placed it there - at the moment, I don't really want categories on my page, so I didn't.

In the future, please think about asking before simply editing.

Thanks, Ale_Jrbtalk 20:54, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok will do. I'm trying to get everyone that uses huggle to actually be in the people that use huggle category. currently it is looking very empty with about 7 people in it. Instead of adding the category to the pages i will just talk to them on their talk page. Thanks fr telling me this. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:30, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
No problem :). Ale_Jrbtalk 17:25, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Category- Users who Use Huggle

 • Just wondering, I checked this category, and it says that only 19 users are in that category. Do only 19 users have Huggle? Surely not. Steve Crossin (talk) 21:05, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Nope loads use huggle. But the problem is that none actually has the category on their page. I have been trying to add the category to as many pages as i can using the names that update the white list. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:28, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
 • I guess this is the message you placed the talkback message on my userpage just now? Yes, I noticed that more people use it. Don't mean to be short, there are just vandals I have to fight. Thanks. Steve Crossin (talk) 07:52, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
I will come and join you. :D ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:55, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Addshore - I've reverted your edit to List of tautological place names. I realise it was a good-faith one, but when you correct "mistakes" it's worth ckecking that they weren't deliberate! :) Grutness...wha? 23:30, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

I always check things i change like that and to me it looked like a total mistake. I guess i was a bit sleepy. Sorry for any trouble caused in my mistake. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:31, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
s'alright. easy mistake to make :) It does look strange, but it's simply explaining the literal (tautological) meaning of "The La Brea Tar Pits". Grutness...wha? 11:23, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

It's fine. I don't mind people editing my userpage as long as they are doing something constructive. I didn't even know there was a category for people who use huggle, or I would have added myself to it. J.delanoygabsadds 17:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

re: category:users who use huggle 3

Hey. I'd personally rather not add the category, thanks. I like to keep my user page fairly sparse, and I use a wide variety of anti vandal programs and scripts, not just huggle. I also don't see any great benefit in such a category. Will (aka Wimt) 19:33, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok. This is why i ask now and don't just add. :D ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 19:34, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

WP:AIV again

You have recently submitted a considerable number of people to AIV although many have not been sufficiently (or at all) warned, or they have not offended after a final warning was given. I see above that you were having trouble with Huggle, leading to a similar situation - is that the cause of this again? - 52 Pickup (deal) 20:28, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I think it must be as i donot as for a block my hand. Huggle should just automatically request after final warning. This is strange and i will try to sort it out. Thanks for telling me again about this problem. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 20:39, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I have to agree that it's Huggle's fault. It also happened to me. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 20:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

What is adding the category useful for? I mean, I'm very happy to do so, but I would like to know what it achieves. Thanks, Sam Korn (smoddy) 22:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

It will just show everyone who uses huggle. You probably won't gain much from it. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Huggle User Category

On User talk:BlastOButter42, Addshore said:
Hi there. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category Category:Wikipedians who use Huggle to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. Thanks. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Sure, no problem. Perhaps you could make it so the Huggle userboxes automatically add the category also. -- BlastOButter42 See Hear Speak 22:50, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Yup, added myself. Keilana|Parlez ici 23:07, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Good good. Now we can acctually kind of see the people that use huggle ^^. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:31, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Huggle. Lorem ipsum.

I would be fine with the category, but I do not want categories to appear on my userpage. And since __HIDDENCAT__ is all or nothing, I do not see a way for this to be possible. So if there is a way to achieve this, I will be happy to do so, but until such a time, I must respectfully decline. seresin | wasn't he just...? 03:24, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Edits regarding November 2007

I noticed you reverted changes to the article November 2007. The changes were made by User:ClueBot who reverted vandalism. Please be more careful on which edits you revert as you accidentally restored vandalism to the article. Mkdwtalk 05:00, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

I am guessing that with this one cluebot reverted the edit and then i rolled it back just after but not seeing it load the edit. It is good to know someone notices these things. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:46, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Edits regarding The Kill

Addshore, I went down a couple of your most recent edits and discovered that you reverted beneficial changes to the article The Kill. You changed, 'External links, to External Links. The edit made was correct in changing the 'L' to lower case per Wikipedia:Naming convention Mkdwtalk 05:04, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. As you can tell i have forgotten many small things like this. I would like to say thanks for going back and checking my edits as people telling me what i do wrong is the only way for me to do it right next time. I have now locked this into memory and i hope that i will not make the same mistake again. Thank for informing me about these errors. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:43, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Huggle User Category

I'd love to add myself to the Huggle user category, but unfortunately I can't get it to work... 1st article

I am trying to write an article on a few pharmaceutical companies that are not found on here because they are new to the industry. I am wondering how I can write the article so it does not get deleted and can remain on wikipedia for I feel these few companies need to be in here, because as of now there is nothing about any of them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.61.222.209 (talk) 16:44, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Some guide lines are.
 1. Don't breach Copyright.
 2. Don't make it an advertisement or look like and advert.
 3. Don't just write about one line, Try to make it as detailed as you can.
 4. Try to keep it in a nice "wiki" format or the same style and layout as other articles like it.

I am grateful to be given a chance to express myself. I will make it short. The information on the page 'MAHDI' is incorrect. As a matter of fact, the books Saheeh Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim have detailed description about Imam Mahdi given by Prophet Mohammad. That would mean that NO sect of Muslims, neither Shias nor Sunnis or even any sub sects deny the MAHDI or his coming. I would request that I may be allowed to make the changes in that article without providing any references, but I offer anyone who may not agree with me to please go through the said books and verify what I stated here.Tanvir A Khan (talk) 21:03, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Just thought you should know

 • I just reverted vandalism on your user page. Your page is on my watchlist and when I saw the vandalism, I just clicked revert. I'm keeping an eye out for you :) Steve Crossin (talk) 16:46, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Just like to say thanks loads. Wikipedia needs more people like you to fight the vandals. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 16:50, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
 • Oh, it was no trouble. We look out for each other :) The recent backlash to my vandal fighting efforts has been so severe, that I've had to get my user page semi-protected. Now, I'm patrolling the Recent Changes, and the New pages. I'm trying to round myself out more. I've just graduated my adoption program :D, and I really want to start admin coaching (because I think I would be a good admin) but I think I wouldn't survive an RFA, even with my vandal fighting efforts. But my account is not even a month old, though, I feel I've contributed a fair bit. What would you suggest? Regarding Admin coaching. Steve Crossin (talk) 16:59, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Well my account is very old :E. I don't think i could survive an RFA at the moment either but i might try my luck eventually. I don't really know what to suggest, Keep on fighting the vandals. Maybe ask some admins what they think of you. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 17:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
 • Yeah, I've thought maybe I should ask some admins of their opinion of me. However, the only real thing I have to my credit is my vandal fighting efforts. I spend far too much time on Wikipedia (for the record it is 4:15am where I am). And I try helping out as much as I can with people. But I tend to have a zero tolerance on vandalism. Which might have to change. But no. I dont like vandals. I won't tolerate vandalism. Steve Crossin (talk) 17:16, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Yep i have a 0 tollerance as well. Also i kind of spend too much time on Wikipedia. I also mainly do anti vandalism stuff but i have started to tag pages and patroll new pages and things like that. I also respond to some helpme templates. I try to do as much as i can. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 17:21, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
 • Well, I mainly fight vandalism. And for the record, my user talk page just got vandalised. =/ Oh, and look at this here. Seems I've made some stupid mistake, and warned myself! [5]. Shows how fast I was going. I tag new pages as well, I'm trying to participate in XFDs, I tag pages for speedy deletion, but it's mostly fighting vandalism. Steve Crossin (talk) 17:26, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Lol sometimes i miss warn / miss revert but i have never warned myself before :D. Also yes i tag for speedy deletion whenever i see a page that should be. If anyone has any tips on what to do post here :D ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 17:28, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
