Speedy deletion nomination of True Circumcision[edit]

Hello Adegbohungbe Theophilus,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged True Circumcision for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Onel5969 TT me 12:32, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's a bad idea to write an article about a group you're involved in[edit]

Information icon Hello, Adegbohungbe Theophilus. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article True Circumcision, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

You describe yourself in the article as the Media Director for True Circumcision. At the least, you have a clear conflict of interest with the subject. You may also, depending upon your relationship with TC, need to declare yourself as a paid contributor if you are paid for your work for TC, whether specifically on Wikipedia or not.C.Fred (talk) 13:02, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reiterating what C.Fred says regarding creating articles for which you have a conflict of interest, and/or have written as an undisclosed paid editor. If either of these things are true, you should stop working on this topic. As you know the article itself also has a problem - it does not indicate why this organization is notable enough to be included in an encyclopedia, and it lacks reliable sources to support any such claim. For these reasons I've deleted the article from the main encyclopedia.
However I note your comments about being a new editor, and in the spirit of assuming good faith I've kept a temporary copy of the article for you to keep working on. It's in your user space at User:Adegbohungbe Theophilus/True Circumcision. Assuming no conflict of interest and no undisclosed paid editing: If you think there is a genuine claim to notability here, and you have the sources to prove it, then by all means add those to the article and it might be able to be returned to the main encyclopedia. If not, or if you don't want to work on this article any further, please let me know and I will delete this copy of it as well.
Happy to discuss if you have any questions, or disagree with the above. -- Euryalus (talk) 13:39, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
