Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Hello Adluvbasketball. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Adluvbasketball. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Adluvbasketball|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:38, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for advertising or promotion.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Seraphimblade Talk to me 07:05, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to appeal the block placed on my Wikipedia account. I understand that my recent edits to the Pro Basketball Association page were flagged as promotional or advertising content. However, I assure you that my intentions were solely to contribute accurate and informative content to the page, without any ulterior motives such as advertising or monetary gain.
As an avid enthusiast of basketball and a supporter of the Pro Basketball Association, I wanted to update the information on the league to reflect its current status and achievements accurately. Unfortunately, it seems that my edits were misconstrued as promotional material. I deeply regret any misunderstanding and would like to rectify the situation.
In order to ensure that my contributions meet Wikipedia's guidelines and standards, I am committed to rewriting the information on the Pro Basketball Association page in a neutral and encyclopedic manner. I will focus on providing verifiable facts and citing reliable sources to support the information presented. By adhering strictly to Wikipedia's policies, I am confident that I can contribute valuable content to the page without violating any guidelines.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and respectfully request that my account be unblocked so that I may continue to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. Thank you for your consideration. Adluvbasketball (talk) 13:28, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will discuss your block with you, but that means with you. I don't talk to chatbots. So if you'd like to discuss possibly being unblocked, please say in your own words, without use of a chatbot, why you think that is. Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:44, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe my account should be unblocked because my intentions were genuine and sincere. I was editing the Pro Basketball Association page to offer fans and other interested individuals essential information about the league's history. My motives were not driven by personal or financial gain. As a lover of the sport and an advocate for knowledge dissemination, I firmly believe that people should have access to information if they so desire. Adluvbasketball (talk) 14:01, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I made every effort to locate sources to authenticate the information under discussion. I will rewrite the information to sound more fitting for an Encyclopedia. I have a true passion for sports especially basketball. I am learning more on how articles within wiki platform should sound. Please forgive me if the langage I used made the article sound promotional or made me appear as someone who was seeking financial gains, that was wholeheartedly not my intentions. Adluvbasketball (talk) 14:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, granted I'm blessed to be given permission to edit again, can you assist me in ensuring the article is not reject and can proofread the information before submission to avoid being blocked or the article being rejected for review. Adluvbasketball (talk) 17:33, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To start with, you were asked above whether you were editing for compensation, or on behalf of an employer or the like, and instructed not to continue editing until you answered that question. You still have not answered that question. Editing for pay is not forbidden, but those who do so are required to disclose that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:31, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies, I am not editing for money, I am editing on behalf of Commissioner Angela Culliver of the Pro Basketball Association and for fans to be able to access valuable information on the Pro Basketball Association. Adluvbasketball (talk) 20:58, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Reading to fast and not seeing the full requirements, I only thought it was the language of the article that had it removed or delete because it the page itself was viewed as advertisement. After reading the question now, I see I was being asked, was my personal intention of editing the page a monetary gain. I apologize for not fully reading the requirements earlier. I only continue editing the page, because I thought the issue was the language of the article. Adluvbasketball (talk) 21:08, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you are "editing on behalf" of someone in the organization, and are affiliated with it, you would still need to declare as a paid editor. If you were to be unblocked, you would have to agree to follow the COI requirements. Specifically, that includes refraining from editing or creating articles directly in mainspace about this organization, as you did above. To propose a new article, you would instead write a draft and request articles for creation review, so that an editor without a COI can review it. And regardless, Wikipedia does not permit promotional material, and all articles are required to stick to neutrally presenting facts confirmed by reliable and independent sources. If there is not a substantial quantity of reliable and independent material available about an organization, it is not notable and would not be an appropriate subject for an article at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:27, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree to follow the COI requirements and rewrite the article as a draft and submit the article for articles for creation review. Once again please forgive me for any inconvenience and thank you for educating me on how to properly submit an article for review to be approve based on reliable sources. Adluvbasketball (talk) 01:14, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've unblocked you, subject to the conditions we've discussed above. Please make sure that your next edit is the disclosure (or requesting assistance with making it), or you may be reblocked. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:27, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for unblocking me and allowing another chance to adhere to the policies and rewrite the article. I will rewrite the article in Draft form so that it can be review and approved based on the references provided. Adluvbasketball (talk) 09:46, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Once again, thanks for the knowledge update. I recently submitted the Columbus Ga Vipers page to the Articles for Creation review. My references have been an issue, which has caused the article to be denied. I recently went and corrected all the references used to ensure they were correct. Could you please double-check my references for that page and ensure I made the correct errors? Adluvbasketball (talk) 18:08, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I hope all is well. I noticed that other pages with only three or maybe four references from the same or very similar sites and pages were able to get approved. For instance, they used the Eurobasket site as a reference. I have 16 references from the league site, newspaper articles, Eurobasket, and other news broadcasting companies. Why aren't these references working for this article versus other articles? Adluvbasketball (talk) 03:17, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I made the reference error corrections. Please review the sources again. Adluvbasketball (talk) 05:08, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
