Yes, uploading images to Wikipedia is terribly complicated. I had to delete that image because when you uploaded it, you indicated that it was for Wikipedia use only. Ironically, such permission is not sufficient for use at Wikipedia. The goal of Wikipedia is to be a free content encyclopedia, meaning that others can reuse and modify the content, even if they do so for profit. Images of living people have to be truly free (in a completely unrestricted way) in order to be used at Wikipedia. To use that image, you should follow the instructions on this linked page, and that should cover you. Good luck and sorry it's complicated! -- But|seriously|folks  06:12, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Fitzgerald[edit]

Disambiguation pages can be put at "x (disambiguation)" if there is one "x" who is better known than all the others. I wouldn't like to comment on whether this particular Thomas Fitzgerald is the best-known, but I have put the template in, which had been omitted when the page was created (possibly there wasn't any need for a disambiguation page at that time if it was early in the project). But you can go ahead and add your Thomas Fitzgerald to the Thomas Fitzgerald (disambiguation) page if you haven't already. Deb 16:41, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I just looked at your new article and I've moved it as we don't normally use people's titles (eg. Dr) in article titles. See the article naming conventions for further info. Deb 16:46, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Ross Steele, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://rosssteele.com.au/info. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 04:41, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia uses the GFDL license, consequently a 'with permission' license isn't sufficient. PhilKnight (talk) 00:26, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Lycia Trouton[edit]

A tag has been placed on Lycia Trouton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 14:02, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:IrishLinenMemorialHandkerchief.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:IrishLinenMemorialHandkerchief.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 14:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:IrishLinenMemorialHandkerchief.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:IrishLinenMemorialHandkerchief.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 23:03, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lycia Trouton, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
