Queercraft speedy deletion

[edit]

Hi Aharris206, sorry for not explaining in any detail beyond the automated template why I flagged your article for deletion; there are so many articles created every day that we just don't have time to write a detailed explanation for every article. Since you've asked though, I'll explain. Wikipedia article subjects are required to be notable, so that the encyclopedia doesn't fill up with various articles on any old topic. To establish notability, articles need to be cited to reliable sources; without coverage in third party reliable sources, there's no evidence that anyone has taken note of the subject and thus no evidence that they are notable. I flagged your article for speedy deletion because, as with a horde of other articles created every minute, it had no reliable sources and no claim of significance. If your Minecraft server has received coverage in reliable sources (maybe video game news websites for example), please add those to the article and it won't be speedy deleted. If such sources don't exist, the server likely isn't suitable for a Wikipedia article at this time, Samwalton9 (talk) 14:05, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I will fix that asap. We have at least 3 different notable server forums. I will make sure to cite them. aharris206 (talk) 12:11, 03 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest you read the reliable sources link above; forums aren't regarded as reliable sources especially if they're server forums and thus not independent of the server. The sources we're looking for are books, Web articles, newspapers, magazines, etc. Sources with a reputation for fact checking that aren't primary sources. Would a youtube review work? I would say that they are a third-party-source but idk if that would work. aharris206 (talk) 12:28, 03 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Only if that review were by a journalist working for a publication like IGN or Polygon. Anyone can upload content on near enough anything to YouTube, that doesn't prove that it is important. Samwalton9 (talk) 14:29, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Humm, ok. I will remove the page myself until I can find a reliable source, since I have been up all night and need some rest.
I have removed the content and an admin has marked it for deletion. I am perfectly fine with this, as I do not currently have the source. I will wait until I do before re-uploading. Thank you again for your response. aharris206 (talk) 14:41, 03 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you participated in the discussion at File_talk:Samesex_marriage_in_USA.svg#Proposal_1_.28Mark_Nevada.2C_Colorado.2C_and_Oregon_medium_blue.29. I was for the sake of formality (and to help the eventual RfC-closer), if can you re-register your opinion in the RfC section. Thanks! Thegreyanomaly (talk) 22:46, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
