Methods: I edited your first sentence for it to flow better. I also requested you add a citation to that last sentence in pt.1 or else delete it.

Methods to detect Pattern-based Convergence: Wheatsleaf index- I know it can be a little difficult to include algorithms/equations/mathy things on an article, but for a lot of theoreticians it might be good to include something like that (if you can find it in the literature).

Methods to detect Process-based Convergence: This section is great, no critiques.

Terms you could link to other wiki articles: - Convergence - phenotypic - phylogenetics - Brownian - bootstrapping - jackknifing - R - AIC

You've done a nice job with this page on convergence methods. I agree with some of the changes the other editors have made - it seems like mostly they cleaned things up (fixed broken links, capitalization, etc.), and removed a few places where you referred to a specific R or software package. That's considered advertising and isn't really appropriate on Wikipedia, unless you had a page that was specifically devoted to listing all the ways of addressing a particular issue with software. But in the context of a page like yours, I can see why they removed it. Some of the other users were a little mercenary - especially Sminthopsis84! - and took out more text than I think was really necessary. I agree with the removal of the ancestral state recon section, that would be more appropriately cited in passing as a first step for all or most of the other methods you talk about.

I think you could rewrite and add back in the section on process-based convergence. I think it was removed because you focused too much on a specific R package, rather than in general on methods for detecting process-based convergence. I would like to see you try and rewrite that section in a more Wikipedia-standard style and put it back in. Emilysessa (talk) 13:43, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
