Lead

[edit]

I would move the second sentence ("Students of all academic...") further down in the paragraph. It seems like there should be more important information that could come after the initial sentence. Maybe something about how long the band has been around? I mostly think your lead should be longer. If this is how short the intro is, I'm worried about how much content you'll have for the rest of the page. I would mention the history (such as the date of founding), which you could turn into its own section later on in the article. Maybe add the location of Rutgers in the first sentence or mention it shortly after.

Topic?

[edit]

Put up 2 or 3 page ideas that you would like to start working on, please. Thanks! Daclausen (talk) 14:52, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1. University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band - I have multiple sources through the band program here at UNL that would allow me to include much more information on this page. I would like to specifically develop the History section on this Wikipedia page.
2. 30 June Stadium stampede - This page is more out of my comfort zone, but after looking at the page, it desperately needs help. The minimal information that is in the page already seems interesting, so I would be interested in attempting to improve upon the page.
3. Marching Scarlet Knights - This is the page for the Rutgers University marching band. Out of all of the bands in the Big Ten Conference, this is the only band that does not have a Wikipedia page. In order to complete the record for Big Ten marching band pages, I would be very interested in creating and developing this page. Ahouston5 (talk) 17:57, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Your topics are really well chosen because it is something specific and also interesting to you. Developing a page is hard work, be sure to read the manual for each genre or mimic the structure of another page. Good Luck! Yihengsong (talk) 19:30, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Mandy. Your topic of the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Bank would be interesting to update. Since you have multiple sources I believe your work on developing the History section will be help the page. Audition Process

[edit]

Hi! Thank you for also contributing to the Marching Scarlet Knights page! It was looking pretty sparse last week. I'm editing the page for a school assignment about Wikipedia. This is my first time using a talk page so forgive me if I do something wrong.

I'm a member of the Rutgers University Marching Band so I have first hand experience of what happens in the band. Our band website is pretty outdated so some of the information is not up-to-date. I'll contact one of our staff to see if he could update it. The audition process was a pretty new addition; we officially had auditions just this year.

MSK page

[edit]

Oh cool! What instrument do you play? I talked to my band staff and they said that our athletics department is in charge of the website and that they submitted a request for them to update it, but they haven't yet. I think we are getting a new website altogether though, which is still in the works, but almost done (or so they say).

Marching Scarlet Knights

[edit]

I play trombone! And the section you put in about Knight Call is cool, but we don't do that anymore.
