Please sign your posts

[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --CiaPan (talk) 20:21, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Then, please remove my page immediately! Thanks, Aidong Zhang

No. It cannot be removed immediately, but only after a discussion, which normally takes a week, and for which there is no guarantee of a decision to remove. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:10, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question for Aidongzhang

[edit]

@Aidongzhang: can you tel us exactly which part of the article is not correct? I see you have removed information about your position at the University of Buffalo, but they still publicly list you as a professor emeritus so we have kept that information. Let us know exactly what is wrong with the article. Thanks. --- Possibly (talk) 21:21, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Question for Aidongzhang

[edit]

Many things there are very old so I edited it to reflect my current info. If you can just keep my edits, that will be ok to keep the page. Otherwise, I would appreciate it if you could delete my page. Also, I don't want my birthdate or any other private information listed on the page. I hope you will not list any private information in the future. But since I cannot edit the page, I think it is the best to simply delete my page. I prefer that way!. Thanks, Aidong Zhang.

Some of this information, such as year of birth, is actually not private information but publicly available information at the Library of Congress. I suggest you talk to them if you would not like this information to be public. See WP:BLP for our policies in such matters. --hroest 03:02, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About my page again

[edit]

I read all the correspondence and appreciate your effort on setting a page for me. But I prefer not to have such a page since people are randomly adding stuff which may be personal or incorrect or very old stuff not reflecting me. As this is out of my control, I prefer not to have such a page if possible. I tried to make changes to correct your mistakes but every time my edit was reverted. For example, I am not the founding editor-in-chief for TCBB. I am the current editor-in-chief. Such wrong information does not promote me instead it sent wrong information to people and they might think I made such claims. So if possible, I still think it is the best to delete my page. Aidong Zhang

Hi Aidong Zhang,
I have copied your comment from here to the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aidong_Zhang, where the discussion about whether or not to delete the article is taking place. Based on the responses so far, it seems unlikely that the biography will be deleted.
It is worth noting that your comment (the one I am responding to now) clearly articulated an error in the article, and that other editors immediately corrected it once they understood what the problem was. If there are other errors in the article, a similar clear articulation would probably have a similar effect. --JBL (talk) 16:16, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You can find some advice abut how to raise concerns you may have regarding what we wrote about you, at Wikipedia:About you. It can be difficult to get to grips with this when you're new here but please don't attempt to change things yourself, except in the exceptional circumstances described there.
