The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
I, holmes.sherlock, give this barnstar to ais523 because I think he is very kind to me and I trust him very much. He always answer questions that I ask on his talk page, and Ais523,, keep up the good work and receive more barnstars. Holmes.sherlock 13:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Being an admin/holmes.sherlock

Hi ais523, I have given you a barnstar because I think you really deserve one for your act of kindness and patient. At lest how many edits do I have to make before I can be an admin, and where can I request for adminship. Thanks for your really kind attention. And I have just receive I message from user:chaser saying that I have to get user's support to be an admin and I am not very experiencing to be. What can I do to be an admin. Holmes.sherlock 01:55, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks very much for putting this together, it's the most useful thing I've seen in the signpost for a long time (and that's not meant to imply the signpost isn't usually useful). Keep up the good work, Waggers 11:31, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Regarding deletion of Ocimum Biosolutions

Hello Ais523,

This is in reference to deletion of Ocimum Biosolutions. I gone through the Notability (organizations and companies) guidelines and would like to cite few independent secondary sources:

1) Microarrays for Model Organism Systems (Genetic Engineering News): http://www.genengnews.com/articles/chitem.aspx?aid=718 2) Taming the Genome with Microarrays (Genetic Engineering News): http://www.genengnews.com/articles/chitem.aspx?aid=1505 3) Biosimilars Jumpstart Biotech in India (Genetic Engineering News): http://www.genengnews.com/articles/chitem.aspx?aid=2099 4) Faster Drug Discovery (Red Herring): http://www.redherring.com/Article.aspx?a=20358&hed=Faster+Drug+Discovery 5) Eight Indian Startups to Watch (Red Herring): http://www.redherring.com/Article.aspx?a=17127&hed=Eight+Indian+Startups+to+Watch

Please let me know if these secondary sources as External Links/Refrences would be good enough to restore the page and would meet the Notability (organizations and companies) guidelines.

Thanks, Gurmukh —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gurmukh.s (talkcontribs) 09:02, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

When you deleted the Barði Jóhannson page it was obvious that some vandalist had put that redirect there, you shoulc have looked at history and reverted before you deleted the whole article, and now i cant revert your damage.

That page had no history at that title; it was a redirect with 1 history entry to Barði Jóhannsson, which was deleted by User:Coredesat, not me (with CSD A7 given as the reason). I think you might have been complaining to the wrong admin... --ais523 16:07, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

User holmes.sherlock

Having recently discovered that the above user User:holmes.sherlock has wrongly attributed a barnstar on his user page to me, I see he's also got a barnstar on his page which purports to be from you - I suspect without your having awarded it. Thought you might like to know! Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 18:35, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Just wondering...

Hi there - just wondering if it's possible to request the removal the page about me from this site (Chris Chamberlin). I'm not quite sure who made it, but if it could be removed that would be wonderful, as I'm getting quite a bit of crap about it from people in real-life...

Your help here would be greatly appreciated :)

Your response to my "helpme" (Re. double-pages)

Thanks! I'll look at the pages tomorrow. It's late here now. As for my "helpme" markup, what happened was that originally there was an older "helpme" above this one, which had been "neutralized," but that old "helpme" looked to me as though it made this current one ambiguous, so I tried to delete the old one, and what was left was the mess that you saw when you came to my page. If you are interested, you can look at the edit history to see exactly how it went. Thanks for your help!Grammarmonger 17:18, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

BRION

Hey thanks for writing the BRION section of the signpost, I enjoy reading it every week (and it keeps me up to date on what will come with the next mediawiki version). I didn't notice anything talking about the change to the image page though, the revision history section is totally different. -Ravedave 14:07, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Colour in adminrights.js

Howdy. I was wondering if there was an easy way for me to specify a new background colour whilst using your imported User:Ais523 non-admin/adminrights.js script? Some simple way of overriding it via my monobook.css perhaps? Much thanks (reply here :) --Quiddity 23:30, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

There wasn't before, but there is now. Specify
.ais523_adminrights_admin {background-color:#00FF00 !important;}
(or whatever colour you want) in your monobook.css to override the colour. --ais523 16:01, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Ragesoss

I'm not 100% sure his RFA should appear on WP:100; he didn't achieve 100 supports, and that is what is being tallied. The one you refer to in the discussion clearly expressed his desire not to go into a numbered section. I am torn. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 10:38, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Ok. I don't have a problem leaving it there; however, because of what I perceive to be the rather steadfast and rigidly maintained nature of the page's cataloging of RFAs which specifically reach 100 supports, I am not entirely certain that it will remain. Cordially, -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 10:45, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the help on my userpage!

Accesskeys

It seems that throughout the history of MediaWiki, both the Template and MediaWiki namespaces have been used to store the accesskeys. In 2005, a user moved most of the accesskeys from the Template namespace to the MediaWiki namespace, leaving behind orphaned template redirects. I don't want to break anything, but I'm almost positive that deleting the template redirects won't cause any issues. (See list here.) The templates that are not redirects (e.g., Template:Accesskey-userpage) seem like they could be deleted as well, though I'm less sure about those. Thoughts? Cheers. --MZMcBride 02:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Re: (User talk:ais523/catwatch.js) How to get started

Hey there, thanks for your message. I have done what I think you told me to do, but it doesn't seem to work, can you take a look and tell me what I have done wrong? Thanks Tiddly-Tom 06:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. It just does not appear on my watch list. It used to say 'Would you like to add pages to your watchlist?' (or whatever it says :P ) after doing nothing, it did not say that, but the page did not show on my watch list. Tiddly-Tom 18:48, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
I just looked at my watch list, and the catogry was on it. I looked back at my watch list and it had gone. Does it remove it from my watch list when the page is removed? Thanks Tiddly-Tom 19:18, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Code changes today?

Were there any code changes schheduled for today? We started having this problem about three hours ago. Not sure if it's VP or something with Wikipedia rollback code. Saw your name in the Wikipedia Signpost, so I thought I'd bug ya...see if you knew of anything...;) Dreadstar 21:45, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your helpful and informative response! We've reported a bug to the VP team, and I took the liberty of asking User:Siebrand about it too...saw that user name in the link you provided..! Thanks for the great help! Dreadstar 16:10, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

List of prominent figures in the emerging church movement, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that List of prominent figures in the emerging church movement satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of prominent figures in the emerging church movement and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of List of prominent figures in the emerging church movement during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Blueboy96 18:26, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Although I have the first revision on the article, I was simply helping out technically, didn't write any of the text, and don't know what the content in the article is; you probably should contact User:Will3935 about it rather than me. --ais523 09:55, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

In case you don't see this...

Someone made a suggestion for the next edition of WP:BRION available here. Also, do you have any thoughts about those accesskey template redirects (above)? I really am curious to hear what you think about them being deleted. Cheers. --MZMcBride 21:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Template help

I know you're far more handy with this type of thing than most people. Is there a way to amend {{Infobox 1981 Hungerstriker}} so the image field is optional? If you look at Bobby Sands you'll see the current problem if there isn't an image. Thanks. One Night In Hackney303 18:03, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Works fine on both, thanks for the help. One Night In Hackney303 18:08, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Your signature

How did you get your to affect the timestamp? I've seen some very cools stuff done in signatures, but it's always stuff that appears before the timestamp, which (AFIAK) is appended to whatever is in your signature code. My only guess is that you somehow got the timestamp into the signature code itself (via templates?) and then sign using only three tildes... Would you please explain how you accomplished this? - SigmaEpsilonΣΕ 00:11, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

I have a problem. It doesn't work! I'm using a firefox and it didn't add anything to my watchlist. I have it here, here and here. I've cleaned my cache, and browsing history for a couple of time. And reloaded my watchlist and those pages. If I made a misstake, could you fix it for me? Thanks in advance! -- Dvorsky 19:53, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering again, but the script doesn't work pretty well. It shows me only newest article in Category:Wii-only games, and not in both Wii-only games and Category:Wii games. I don't know what's the problem? PS. I tried it with my Sandbox. -- Dvorsky 15:59, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
I saw it's because of more than 200 articles, so I wanted to ask you if theres any possibility to make that script running from my user subpage so I could make limit to 300 articles? -- Dvorsky 21:26, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for taking an interest in MediaWiki:Geshi.css. :) I just read your comment about how <source lang="Scheme"> and <source lang="scheme"> are not treated identically. In my book, that's a bug, or at least a problem with an easy solution; GeSHi should map lang to lowercase before doing anything else. (Handling of special cases like "cpp" → "c++" can be done by the same bot which will one day convert all <code lang="..."> to <source lang="...">, once the bugs are smoked out of <source>.)

Since you filed a Bugzilla report about the "class source" regression (and yes, it definitely used to work, whatever they say over at Bugzilla), I thought I'd ask if you'd like to file one against this bug, too. I don't feel like getting involved in Bugzilla myself; too much bureaucracy for too little gain, IMVHO. --Quuxplusone 06:37, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

New amibox

The way the template looks as I seen it in Mozilla based browsers showed no styling at all, so it looked as if it blended in with the article's prose. Because of the nature of CSS, the rules further down in each box's category styled the side bars anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiLeon (talkcontribs) 16:31, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Username: Kalena Jordan

Hello there

I just requested a user account for my legal name "Kalena Jordan" that appears to have been registered by someone else. You kindly replied very quickly but suggested I register another name as that name was "taken". I am new to Wikipedia and I'm a bit confused. Do you allow individuals to register the legal names of others? I am well know in the search marketing industry and I suspect somebody has registered this name deliberately to prevent me from doing so or to pose as me. I tried to register kaljordan and KalJordan but those were also taken. If nobody has used "Kalena Jordan" despite having registered it back in January, couldn't it be re-allocated? Sorry for my ignorance but as I said, I am new to Wikipedia. Thanks, Kalena —Preceding unsigned comment added by 13:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC) I'm sorry, I just realized I hadn't logged in when I made this comment. My (second choice!) username is KalenaEJordan and I've created an account in that name but I'd rather have Kalena Jordan if possible.

Admins can all rollback autonomous?

A bot to revert all the edits of another editor almost certainly wouldn't be approved. (Admins can use rollback on a contributions page to do something similar, however.) Except in cases of obvious high-volume vandalism, why would you want to revert all the contribs of another user? --ais523 16:44, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

couple questions

I did a helpme a long time ago and you came and answered it. I am by far not an expert on Wikipedia so therefore I'm needing some guidance. I placed a comment on a user page ([1]) and my understanding is that the user cannot delete from their user page...1)is this the case? Is this "cautioning" not mandatory to be left on his/her page? 2) Was that not appropriate for me to place the mild caution there? The user indicates that he is not breaking the 3RR, but my understanding is, that he is. 3)How would you handle this situation (see his edits here [2] and here [3])? I went to the page because of a BLP request, and per the concerns, moved the questioned items (by many) to the talk page for discussion and a "straw" consensus. However, this user keeps reverting and placing it back in. Similarly, he has done it with other edits from different editors over different issues. I thought I would use Good Faith and not report him. How or what would you do here?

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to help and for letting me know. I know I asked a lot, but rather than react, as I have in the past, I'd like to proceed in the right manner. Thanks! --Maniwar (talk) 00:34, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

You do this by adding the line

sect-stub template ambox

Regarding Template:sectstub, you had pointed me to a discussion while declining editprotected. But that discussion was about the stub-templates which are placed in the bottom of the article, also they are huge in number. But this is the only stub-template that appears inside the article content, changing it to ambox will call for no controversy or whatsoever i beleive. Could you be bold, later we can revert it back. Regards, Lara_bran 15:33, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, i was little confused where to seek opinion. Since that is remote template hardly attracting visitors, talk page is rarely edited. Me postponing it a little, since i already have something in wt:amb :) Bye. Lara_bran 15:53, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I wish to mention one thing, that i dont think editprotected is similar to speedy delete. I noticed change in template editprotected to include "immediately", lately. Speedy deleting will make content disappear to others, wont be known by anybody other than the author. That will result in loss of content if author decides to leave it. But editprotected is visible to everyone, and can be reverted, hence being bold will result in no loss. I just felt like telling you, just a thought - thats all. Nice day.
