Non-English language names

[edit]

Regarding your email message, you are mistaken. It was not me, but editor MrOllie who reverted the changes you made to Moringa oleifera.[1] The reason they gave in their edit summary is, "This is the English Wikipedia".

Use non-English language terms sparingly on the English-language Wikipedia. Should the vernacular name of Moringa oleifera in every possible languages be included in the English-language article? Of course not, that information is of zero interest to the average reader and would make the article hard to understand. The appropriate place for the Hindi name is on the Hindi-language version of Wikipedia, at hi:सहजन. Occasionally a non-English vernacular name is relevant on the English-language Wikipedia. For example, the source cited in the first paragraph of the article uses the name malunggay, so including that name may help readers verify Wikipedia against that source and find further information. --Worldbruce (talk) 22:31, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
