You're right about the sources. It's my main concern actually (I feel the fact that the article's mainly based on an Arabic language source will raise issues). Unfortunately, I can't find other sources for the moment; in literatures on the war it's like those 'forgotten battles'. On the other hand, I noticed I hadn't not used O'Balance at all. I've added a few citations to him now, and I'll see if I can get anymore sources.
As for the wikilinks, I'm not sure I can add more information about them than what's already in this article. But if you find any sources about any them, go ahead and I'll try to contribute with whatever I can. Thank you for your help! --Sherif9282 (talk) 11:10, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Because there would be too many subdivisions which in this case I see as unnecessary. The other factions don't really have lengthy reactions and combined they form only a small passage in the article. This of course is not a major issue. As for Hamas' raid, I would've started it if no one else had, but I'm tied up this week. Glad you're taking the initiative though ;) Thank you very much for your compliments. Conversion of Hagia Sophia into a Mosque

Hallo Al Ameer

I have a question about Islam: the main historical sources tell that the church of Hagia Sophia was converted into a Mosque at the same day of the Conquest of Constantinople upon desire of Sultan Mehmed through a prayer of one of his Ulama. This I wrote on the article (and referenced it), until another user came, started a (big) discussion and canceled my statement, pretending that this is not true, and that the church was not converted into a mosque but - at least at that moment - only used as a mosque. I would like to ask you (or other users which you know and are versed in Islamic history and customs) whether the procedure used by Mehmed was (is) correct (I would have liked to ask Mehmed II, but unfortunately he is not around anymore, and maybe it is better so :-)). thanks! No, the two situations are completely different. Hagia Sophia was converted into a Mosque just after the conquest of Constantinople. What I would like to know is whether the reciting of a prayer is a sufficient condition or not for the Muslim religion in order to change the state of a building into that of a Mosque. This is exactly what the contemporary tell us about the way of converting this building. Request for adminstrator assistance

Hello Al Ameer, we have a situation at Qur'an that would greatly benefit from your assistance with protocols. A few weeks ago, some editors at Qur'an opened a poll to move the page to Quran, a non-standard spelling mostly restricted to blogs and low-quality sources, claiming falsely that the apostrophe forces undue respect for the Qur'an, despite "Qur'an" being overwhelmingly preferred by modern scholarship with plenty of evidence that "Qur'an" is the modern accepted spelling, e.g. here. The only support for their position was that there are more raw Google hits for "Quran" than "Qur'an". This was found to be due to artifacts: including the inability to place apostrophes in URLs, misspellings, and some low-quality sources such as blogs written by people unfamiliar with the Qur'an. A number of the editors who voted in the poll had not contributed at all to the pages on the Qur'an and did not know the standard spelling, so they were persuaded by number of Google hits. Specialists on the Qur'an typically edit subsidiary pages, rather than the main Qur'an page, and many of these editors, including myself, were not aware of the vote. After a 9-4 vote, editors incorrectly claimed consensus and moved the page to "Quran", but worse, one editor, Quigley, attempted to cascade this vote to other pages by replacing all instances of "Qur'an" on Wikipedia with "Quran". This drew me to the Qur'an page where I initiated conversation about the incorrectness of the name change. After showing plenty of evidence, one of the original voters changed his vote, and plenty of other editors, some also drawn to the page by the cascading effect, voted to restore the page to "Qur'an". Currently a majority of editors support restoring the page to "Qur'an". Even considering both votes, a majority of editors prefer "Qur'an", showing that there was no consensus to move the page to "Quran". Three editors however: Kauffner, Quigley, and William M. Connolley have not been persuaded, and are posting numerous combative edits, attempting to invalidate the new poll and to prevent the page from being restored to "Qur'an". They have not given good reason and all three have posted comments to the effect of "Qur'an" forcing undo respect for the Qur'an, which is an entirely invalid argument ignoring modern scholarship and modern usage. I believe we would benefit greatly from administrator oversight to build consensus, especially by an administrator, such as yourself, with experience on related topics and a history of high-quality scholarship and fairness. Al Ameer son (talk · contribs), regarding this partial revert at Homs, there actually was an attempt on my part to engage in a discourse on the Discussion page. If you could elaborate on the reason for your revert there, that'd be great. The UNRWA page the article links to doesn't give a date for when the Haifa-Acre refugees fled their towns. In the interest of avoiding carrying over any possible bias from the UNRWA page, I think that best would be either to quote the source directly or embrace your proposal of "present-day Israel." But leaving the article the way it is (and the way it was prior to the sock's intervention and the edit warring) raises POV/historical inaccuracy issues.—Biosketch (talk) 13:17, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi, We don't want to change the meaning of "E" from Yishuv to Israeli in general. The 1947-8 cases should remain Yishuv as some were pre-Israel. Our problem is that we don't want to use "Yishuv" for the 1967 timeframe. Would it be easy to create a new letter like "I" to expand to "Expulsion by Israeli forces" while keeping "E" to mean "Expulsion by Yishuv forces"? Thanks. Zerotalk 05:04, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Ameer! I'm terribly sorry for being so late! Exams are draining me and all my time!

First off, thank you very much! Your support and help really encouraged me to start a review, and I'm really grateful! I think I might give it a try at getting it to FA status, or perhaps work on getting another article to A-class, probably the Chinese Farm article. I'll decide hopefully as soon as I'm done with my exams.

And, thanks for reading my blog, I appreciate your feedback! The Arab Spring has helped enlighten people somewhat but we've still a long way to go before there's a respectable level of awareness. Turkey is indeed the finest model available and I hope we reach something along similar lines. Right now the biggest obstacle to, any kind of change really, is how the army's handling the situation and running the country. We've gotten into some heavy clashes with police yesterday, because they're still following the same mentality and brutality, and every street movement or political demand is treated as a security problem. Help on a Particular Wiki

Hi, As-salaamu 'Alaikum,

I was wondering if it would be possible that you could assist me with editing a Wiki I've been working on. I'm not very literate in terms of Wiki editing and I thought it would be useful to ask an Admin. The issue I'm experiencing is that whenever I seem to edit the article it refuses to accept the changes, and reverts back to a previous version, after the browser cache is cleared.

Merge of Amka and Amqa

There is a currently ongoing merger proposal discussion regarding merging of Amqa article into the previously created article of Amka. According to sources and geographic location we are speaking of different prenounsation of the same place name Amka/Amqa/Amca, the same as Acre/Acco/Akko and Tiberias/Tabariya/Tveriya. Zaki al-Arsuzi

Thanks for copyediting, and fixing, my sometimes very bad grammar. Question, should sentence that start with al-Arsuzi be lower case? His name is lower case, wouldn't it be grammatically wrong to upper case a lower case name? Even so, thanks. --TIAYN (talk) 19:42, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

I must say, there still doesn't seem to be much activity on Arab nationalist or Arab political articles in general. When I first took at look at the ba'athism article (look) it was pure crap. It still has major problems, but at least its readable. My focus, for the time being, is not Arab nationalism, but more specific to ba'athism... Its nice to see another editor working on Arab nationalist related articles too; I must say, cudos for you're work on the Gamal Abdel Nasser page. My plan, for the time being at least, is to expand and nominate the Hafez al-Assad, Saddam Hussein and Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr to GA-status.... When it comes to copyediting al-Arsuzi, the only thing that is important is that you're better than me; which you've proven, so you may not be great a copyeditor, you are improving it. --TIAYN (talk) 20:53, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
