Hi Alan. First, when you leave a comment on a talk page, please sign and date your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will leave behind an indication of who left the comment and how they can be reached, for example here is my signature: Garrie 21:58, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing on: the articles listed above, were deleted through the "Articles for deletion" process. The reason the article was deleted was because "This company does not meet WP:CORP. The article has no references, and there does not appear to be any significant secondary sources that point to the company's notability."

In the context of Wikipedia, notability has a specific meaning. Please read WP:N.

Asserting notability requires that multiple sources indepent of the subject of the article be cited. References used to establish notability need to be primarily about the subject of the article - that is, a journal article that discusses odour management in the retail sector might mention that Air Aroma is a leading vendor in the Australian marketplace. While that might be a useful quote of a useful journal article, you actually need the whole article to be about Air Aroma (the company). And it needs to be "significant", not just a portion of a directory or a set of company annual reports.

With that in mind, press releases don't assert notability.

Everything mentioned in the article should be available from reading only the material which has been cited.

With the above issues in mind, from the URL's you left at my talk page:

  1. The Age - Australian Newspaper: http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2007/02/22/1171733950986.html
This is an excellent article which does lend to the company having an article based on notability.
  2. Daily Telegraph Australia: http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,21327764-5001081,00.html
This is an excellent article which does lend to the company having an article based on notability.
  3. Australian Financial Review: https://www.air-aroma.com/whatsnew-item.aspx?id=51
If you can provide a link that's at the AFR's website, rather than Air Aroma's, this looks OK. Pointing to an article on the companie's own website makes it look like a press release.
  4. SBS Radio Australia : http://www.radio.sbs.com.au/language.php?news=archive&language=Dutch&page=9
I can't access this one at the moment.

The first three references are all remarkably similar - leaving me to see them as press releases which have been tinkered with just enough for the individual newspapers to run. BUT they are sufficient to meet the "primary inclusion criteria" at WP:N.

In conclusion: re-write the article based only on material available in those references. DON'T go on with sales talk in the article you are writing: describe the company, it's turnover, shareholders, it's bredth of product (ie: don't list the products - say "the company sells XX products with a turnover of AUD YY million.

Make sure that your WP:COI won't be noticed by whoever notices the article at Wikipedia:New articles (Australia). If you write an article which is well supported by reliable sources then it won't be deleted. Garrie 21:58, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
