Not sure this is the best name for this essay... Feel free to move it if you come up with something better. Aldrich Hanssen (talk) 16:45, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

???[edit]

The essay states: "we have a situation in which overzealous deletionists are allowed to butt in and destroy others' userpages, essays, etc. for whatever reason they wish". So does the author prefer a situation in which ethically challenged morons are free to create and keep whatever libelous drivel they can produce for whatever reason they wish? Somehow I think the use of such charged terms is not conducive to a harmonious atmosphere.

In my opinion the claim of the essay that WP:OWN gives "deletionists" a licence for wanton removal of content is hogwash. WP:OWN is never by itself a rationale for deletion. It is a rule about behaviour, applying to editors who refuse to let other editors improve existing material, often in order to make it conform to Wikipedia policy. And if it cannot be made to conform, it should be deleted. Wikipedia is not a soapbox.  --Lambiam 17:26, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
