Problem with your custom signature

[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 05:12, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Request reason:

I do not represent any damage and disruption to Wikipedia because I'm willing to change any mistakes on my editions, I'm not having disruptive behavior, and I even asked for other editors opinions about my first translations, that you can confirm on those pages, any mistakes on my editing I'm willing to change. I'm relatively new on wiki, and I've been translating PT pages that I've been working in, people I know and brands I use that don't exist on wikipedia. I now understand that to the wiki community that may be seen as partial, but I'm not selling anything, just adding new pages from subjects I know and follow. I've tried to be impartial in all the pages I've created, or translated. I can discuss all the edits I've done. It would be helpful if you identify were I was not impartial or advertise, since the majority of my contributions are translations and same of the pages have been checked by other editors. All the pages I've translated are about relevant subjects, people or brands, same are more relevant in Portugal, but since I've changed for the beta version the translation of pages have been encouraged. So I believe I pose no treat and that blocks should be preventative and I'm willing to edit any mistake written, I've also stopped editing in other languages until i'm able to solve this issue in the English wikipedia

Decline reason:

I've examined a couple of the articles you have written, and they're full of blatant marketing/promotional puffery. I don't care whether it's written here first, or you're writing promotional material on the Portuguese Wikipedia and then translating it for here - either way is unacceptable. And you are being deliberately deceptive by suggesting you are just the translator, when you wrote the originals that you have translated. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I do not consider block appeals sent via email.
Anyway, this is materially deceptive. You were the author of the Portuguese articles (one of which, mind you, you claimed to be translated from this wiki). Writing covert adverts on the Portuguese Wikipedia then translating them into English is equivalent to writing covert adverts here. Also please enlighten us as to how the images you uploaded on Commons are your own work. MER-C 11:58, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • AlexandreMLuz, to expand on my unblock decline, I'll examine only Draft:Carlos Santos Shoes (which I have just speedy deleted under WP:G11 as unambiguous promotion). Let me quote a few things from it: "share the same values ... The passion for shoes ... Devotion to work ... The ambition to create unique shoes to fit customers", "50 years of work dedicated to the production of luxury shoes", "a handcraft process that may require more than 200 craft operations", "The machines only complement the details that the hands cannot get"... and almost the entire thing is like that. I don't know how you have the nerve to try to claim that you've tried to be impartial, or suggest you need help with identifying any problematic words. MER-C As I said, I've been working on Portuguese pages and then translating them to English. I understand what you refer to in the Carlos Santos Shoes, but it refers to what they said in interviews, and how the handcraft is described. I was under the impression that everything was alright with the pages I wrote. Nevertheless, i'll change the pages already online. Regarding the Images, how can I prove they are my property?

Please do not email me again. Your description of the context surrounding the creation of those images should be public and therefore made here. MER-C 16:29, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
