Help

Could you maybe help me with getting more info for the references so it could be more visable on the NOTES Kelvin Martinez (talk) 00:32, 13 July 2008 (UTC) Honorific titles in popular music —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelvin Martinez (talkcontribs) 00:52, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

What kind of help are you looking for? AliveFreeHappy (talk) 20:06, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Improved cartridge

Hi Arthurrh I was going to create and “Improved cartridge” page. However, after looking around I found your post in the talk area of a 3rd archive. I don’t know if you or the community has determined if an improved cartridge page or section to the wildcat page is need. I believe there needs to be some sort of area for the improved cartridge.

To answer your curiosity, if it has not already be answered; an improved cartridge is a SAAMI or CIP (AKA factory or commercial) cartridge that can be fired in and improved chamber. The result is a factory cartridge going in [the chamber] and an improved cartridge coming out. This can be done because the improved, non-SAAMI chamber uses the same headspace as the factory/SAAMI chamber.

An easy example would be a 300 H&H Magnum fired in a 300 Weatherby Magnum chamber. Both the 300 H&H and 300 WM have the same exact SAAMI headspace; the belt. Your .243 AI is another example; .243 Win going in and .243 AI coming out (but I wouldn't try it).

It can also be said (within the contexts of experimentation and not commercial adoption) that all improve cartridges are wildcats but not all wildcats are improved cartridges. This goes to the supposition that not all Ackley improved cartridges are in fact improved cartridges. This is because many wildcats including the Pacific Tool and Gage have adopted the 40 degree shoulder to mean “Ackley improved”. P.O. made many improved cartridges with many differing shoulder angles. An example would be the .30-06’ Improved cartridge. This is a true improved cartridge. It was created by P.O. and has a 30 degree shoulder. The shoulder angle of P.O.’s design had to case capacity not headspaceing. The term “Ackley improved” and “Improved cartridge” are not the same and not interchangeable.

Let me know what you think. I'll be looking here for you reply,GregGreg Glover (talk) 17:57, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Greg Glover (talk) 18:09, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Something wrong

Hi, can you tell me why the Locator map image isn't being displayed properly (which I uploaded) on the Pakistan-Japan relations page? Since you're an administrator, I thought you might know. Teckgeek (talk) 09:13, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Well I'm not an expert on templates, but I looked at a few of the other "Bilateral Relations" as well as the |Infobox instructions for Bilateral relations. I suspect maybe you either haven't created the appropriate image and uploaded it, or you have it under a different name. Did you make a map graphic already? Bad Wiki Use

Hi AliveFreeHappy,

You wrote "I noticed you have a sign-up page in your user space. According to wiki guidelines this isn't really an appropriate place for such things. Such a page is a candidate for speedy deletion. I thought I'd give you a chance to straighten it out before the page gets removed. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 18:17, 16 April 2009 (UTC)"

-- but for some reason even though you left that message I never got the yellow "you have a message" thing alas. Then someone came along and erased the page. I put a new one back up...don't tell.

I know it is bad...but I am trying to sneak by for a day or two (until tuesday). If you know somewhere else on the web that supports such a thing let me know -- the ironic thing is the final project for the class is for each student to produce a well-researched NPOV wiki-mark-uped, perfectly formatted, imaged etc. Wiki article. alas. I think it is really stupid that Berkeley's bSpace site doesn't have a sign-up application. I always erase my little wiki work-arounds as soon as they expire. Oh well. I think I'll take a bath. love, Saudade7 05:51, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Coeliac disease

Concerning coeliac disease, could I ask you to use {{cite web}} whenever you add links to websites in references? JFW | T@lk 17:37, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

No problem. I just never remember the syntax, so if I'm in a hurry, I'd prefer to get the ref in there without it rather than have no ref. But I'll try to use it more. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 18:07, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

5.8x21

I haven't had any experience with gun articles, and until recently knew next-to-nothing about guns anyway. Can you name me any online sources for more info on 5.8x21mm? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 14:28, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I didn't find any useful reliable source that I would be very comfortable with. We probably need someone outside of the USA with access to different books than what we have here. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 21:52, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Hawken Rifle

Thanks for taking a look at the Hawken rifle article. I think it could use a little more help. Unfortunately I'm not the one to do it as I have only a passing interest in the subject and I'm not up to researching it at the moment. If you have anything to add that would be great. — NRen2k5(TALK), 12:13, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Guilty

Yeah, this 206.15.235.10 guy is guilty of vandalizing several pages. I know you guys have done this in the past, but please toast him. WATCHER

AfD nomination of a book by Jim Rawles

Sir: You follow many firearms related pages, and I noticed that you've edited a few related to survivalism. You may recall an AfD discussion last year for the pro-gun writer James Wesley Rawles. (The result was keep.) Well, now a wiki article on one of his books has been AfDed. Your sage comments, one way or the other, would be appreciated.
