Hello. I've noticed that you've been editing Chip's Challenge to include information about an upcoming game called "Chuck's Challenge". Is Chuck Sommerville actually involved in this project (i.e., actively taking part in it)? Eric119 (talk) 20:44, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes he is see http://www.niffler.co.uk/people.htm

Orphaned non-free media (File:Chuck's Challenge iOS.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chuck's Challenge iOS.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:16, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Chuck's Challenge 3D Unity.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chuck's Challenge 3D Unity.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. File permission problem with File:Chuck's Challenge Logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chuck's Challenge Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 17:28, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Facebook page[edit]

Please don't ad spam to the Chip's Challenge article. this edit is not appropriate for Wikipedia. Nothing has changed since the last time you tried this, Wikipedia is still not a platform for promotion. Read WP:NOTADVERTISING if you don't believe me. Grayfell (talk) 20:33, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Again? I'm not sure if you looked at the links. Could you please review them as you'll fine the page is 3 days old and it's designed so people have the freedom to ask questions about Chip's Challenge rather than doing it here on wiki. Allack (talk) 21:21, 19 May 2013 (UTC).[reply]
I'm talking about your consistent history of promotional edits. The Facebook section doesn't belong. Also, you do not need to copy this conversation to my talk page, and any new conversations go at the bottom of a talk page. Grayfell (talk) 21:34, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I placed it on both pages as reading the wiki article on replying it said you may not see it if it's only here. I did know that articles should go at the bottom. If you want I can edit it for you. We clearly have different views on promotion. I was simply letting people know where they could openly discuss Chip's Challenge if they wanted to. However if you think that is advertising then I shall not re-edit the post. Perhaps it could be a simply external link at the bottom? Allack (talk) 21:46, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, but you do not need to edit my talk page. In the future, you might consider using a Wikipedia:Talkback, but you don't need to in my case. If you create two identical discussion threads it becomes impossible for other editors to know which one is active, much like spaghetti code.
As for the Facebook section: You should read WP:ELPEREN. Facebook links are not generally used as external links (I don't believe this qualifies as one of the few exceptions). Since you know Sommerville, you have a conflict of interest. If I were you, I would at least limit my Chip's Challenge related edits to what is supported by strictly factual WP:SECONDARY sources. Grayfell (talk) 21:59, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We already had the conflict of interest discussion with several other wiki admin last year, and it was decided by them that there was no conflict of interest. As wiki needs people who are knowledgeable on the subject matter they are editing.Allack (talk) 22:06, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure where you got that impression, but I've read those discussions, and I don't agree. You have acknowledged [1] this involvement, and the majority of your article edits have been to promote Chuck Sommerville or Chuck's Challenge. The remainder of your edits have been otherwise related to Chip's Challenge. I've linked to WP:COI too many times, and I'm sorry, I know that may seem condescending. I want to make absolutely sure you have read it. It's clear to me that you have an apparent conflict of interest. Your (hypothetical) COI wouldn't prevent you from editing, it just means you need to be more cautious about those edits. Regardless, I felt your edits were inappropriate, which is why I reverted them.
Your profile talks about your professional experience as a video-game developer. Since you are knowledgeable in that area, I encourage you to contribute to some of the many other articles that need expert attention. Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games might be a good place to start. Grayfell (talk) 00:09, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiability and recentism[edit]

A couple of points: Your info about Desura is presumably accurate, but is not WP:VERIFIABLE, which is a core policy of Wikipedia. Second, just because Desura no longer sells the game doesn't mean it should automatically be removed from the page. Wikipedia isn't a directory of sales sites, it's an encyclopedia. If it was important enough to include when it was recent, why is it no longer worth mentioning now? It probable isn't, but then, neither is all the ad-like bits about Steam and Google Play. Hopefully the changes I have made to the article address the Desura issue.

The article isn't even about Chuck's Challenge 3D, it's about Chip's Challenge, a much older and more historically significant game, so including this level of detail is already pushing the limits of soapboxing. If you can find any WP:SECONDARY sources about Chuck's Challenge, especially ones that specifically mention Chip's Challenge, that would go a long way towards mitigating these problems. Finding (non-user-submitted) reviews on established game sites and magazines seem like it might be a good starting point. Grayfell (talk) 22:52, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes talk-back can be a little annoying. If you would like me to stop using it, just say the word. Grayfell (talk) 00:39, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
